  • Yuko shows you how to make Japanese Garlic Rice (ガーリックライス). This is the kind of fried rice that is served at Teppanyaki restaurants. It is easy to make at home with simple ingredients.

Did this and stirred an egg into the rice plus some leftover shrimp. Really good! Thanks for the recipe!

Damn, couldn't resist and ate both portions after another. Its a good recipe for times when there is to much month at the end of the money. :3 The combination of the "tanginess" of the olive oil and soy sauce with the creaminess of the butter and freshness of the onions. is awesome. Definitely goes into my cooking rotation.

Can it be made in advance, if it can, how far in advance?

You can if you want but it won't be as good. A proper fried rice uses a day old rice already, by the time you make it in advance the rice will be hard.

(I always make a salt-MSG solution to wet my hands when making onigiri (I use rice paper instead of nori) and they taste wonderful and can last >6 hours at room temperature).
