SumoBoi By any chance do you know where and when and IF there will be TV COVERAGE of sumo exhibition tournament after Olympics closing ceremony?? Thank you in advance SUMO RULES! xoxo Jo-Anna
Dude i think i was watching from your channel qhen this was being held. Are you the original one who made the edits? I cant quite remember the channels name and i just got back into watching them after not watching when hakuho retired.
@@Justice-kr1rz I made this video by combining footage from NattoSumo & a twitch streamer who used to stream sumo. The twitch account was taken down & the person who originally used to make videos "SumoNatto" got copyright striken and lost his channel. Very sad, and that with Hakuho retiring made me not watch Sumo any longer. Is it still good to watch? How do you watch it?
@@sumoboi667 mostly from nhk japan now, as of the current basho Teru is showing force with day 11 and 10-1. He's the only rikishi at the yokozuna title and the one's closest does not have that yokozuna aura that Hakuho and Teru has. Most of the sanyaku rankers were promoted fast due to the regular makuuchi rikishi getting injured. Takakeisho is still at ozeki and probably will get demoted after this yusho. Its kinda stale but Kotozakura the shin Ozeki is showing promise but they lack the intensity from Hakuho's era.
Thank you for posting this. Watching The G.O.A.T. winning is truly inspiring. I continue to miss his presence. Now ( Jan 2023 ) he is about to finally have his retirement ceremony. . on 1/28/2023. So looking forward to seeing Hakuho with short hair. No doubt he will be even more handsome. There will never be another like him.
Reliving this tournament, a couple I took note of: A) I started watching sumo in March of that year (2021). Three years later and this is still the most exciting tournament I've watched. B) That stare-down is still epic! Watching it live, it seemed like they stood there for 5 minutes. I remember getting chills. C) Man... I sure miss NattoSumo. He's the true Yokozuna of our time! 😂
Hakuho is not only the best sumo wrestler of all time, he is perhaps the best athlete of all time. That he dominated the moment from a very young age until his last tournament and retired with a Zensho Yusho (which no one has managed since) is simply earth-shattering. He is the Sumo Kami.
43:18 Can anyone knowledgeable in Sumo tell me Haukuho's reasoning in stepping so far back here? Relatively new to the traditional sport and never seen this before.
Because he dont wanna go for tachi ai or clash because his opponent, shodai is strong. That move is usually for smaller sumo wrestler (as you can see in this video the match beetwen him and tobizaru). Thats why i like hakuho, being known as the strongest but still he would do anything to win. That is a true Yokozuna
he said after that he was running the bout in his mind the night before and was convinced shodai would overpower him in the clash and he for the first time ive ever seen decided to stand back. this really threw off shodai and the audience was very confused as well
All mind games. Presumably by this point Hakuho's knee was hurting terribly and he knew that he'd have to face Terunofuji on day 15. It remains one of the more controversial bouts in recent history. A yokozuna should not be doing this kind of sumo.
@@Warokanji You could make an argument that Hoshoryu was of sufficient rank at M5, however when he got his KK on day 11 (8-3), Hakuho was set up to meet the sekiwake and Shodai, before finally fighting Teru.
@@JimmyN.Buhurt All of the moves (techniques) Hakuho used were legal and worked for him. Yokozunas are expected to maintain their high level of sumo as a challenge to younger rikishes to do their best. A lot of ppl have been critical of Hakuho's slaps and elbow blows but ANY OTHER wrestler is able to do the same moves if they wish to. imo, Hakuho was never mean he was only doing what he needed to do TO WIN!!! Welcome to the greatest sport in the world (imo). Suggest you watch past matches from years gone by to be able to see just how sumo has changed and to enjoy wrestlers like: Asashoryu, Akebono, Harumafugi and Chiyonofugi and etc. Have a good journey. ❤ 🇯🇵 💪
Anmol Wadekar Those are not "cheap tactics". Those are moves that ANY OTHER rikishi can use if they choose to. Hakuho has perfected the techniques that help him win. Yokozunas are expected to do THEIR BEST to show that they earned the title of champion. Also to show younger wrestlers how to do it. NONE of Hakuho's moves are illegal or 'cheap tactics" or mean spirited. I think if YOU WERE ON TOP you would do everything YOU could to STAY there. Think about it. Or not. Some ppl just enjoy tearing down those who are successful so they (the critics) can feel better about THEMSELVES.

He hair pulls though at 6:11. Did they change rules?
Only he knows the pain he had during his last tournament, and still being able to win every single bout, amazing.

Thank you for this!!! Big hakuho fan
Hakuho is just a monster, I feel a little bad for his poor opponent.
Incredible. Hakuho looks like a warlord plucked from pre-history, a lion shaped like a man.
He looks like a great khan. You see guys like that and know why mongolia was the greatest empire to exist
His reaction to the last match was like Tiger Woods if Tiger Woods was an actual Tiger.
What a beautiful story. Even not being a big sumo fan I can enjoy this immensely. Thank You!
What a way to go out! Truly the one and only G.O.A.T ❤

His ceremonial act is really solemn and with complete emotion.
Tobizaru was hilarious... I still laugh whenever I watch that bout.
What was up with this match? Why was it different than the other ones? Almost like if it wAs an exhibition.

Never in any sport has one man truly been the greatest without peer moreso than him, Hakuho holds records that will simply never be broken.
I am excited by Onosato, The Youngling seems to have what it takes
@@Yquan151 he could be as great as Taiho or Chiyonofuji and he still would not touch most of Hakuhos records, but I agree, hes special.
Babe Ruth, he could hit and pitch, probably hall of fame at both.

Isn't this from Natto Sumo?
I’ve never seen anything like Day 7!! 😮
Great!
I am new to watching sumo and want to ask a question. What are the white envelopes that are handed to the winning rikishi?
I am new too! Its money from sponsors!
Man why didn't he fight Hoshoryu or Kotonowaka. Only wanted to see those matchups :(
Obviously because they were of insufficient rank and did not show the result necessary for the fight against yokozuna.

Hakuho last match with tereofunoji was very much rough with his cheap tactics of elbow hitting
I'm fairly new to sumo, is the elbow strike and hard slapping illegal? Or is it just disrespectful?
