Hello, It is recommendation to avoid damage on the motherboard. It depends on the model you have, some laptop have the battery inside the case, so you cant really remove it, you can disconnect it. On other models the battery is external, in that case 100% remove it before doing anything. Hope it helps Thanks for the comment
Hello Dilip P, Being honest I never thought about that......but know I want to test it out. I have a similar laptop at the office, I will test it in the coming days and let you know. I almost forgot, the extra HDD, if it works, would have to be a M.2 SSD. Another easier way to do it would be if the Laptop has a MicroSD reader, most nowadays have, get a 500 GB or 1TB Micro SD and just plug it into the Laptop. That would be like connecting a old school USB Thumb Drive. Thanks for the comment!
Hello Dilip P, I tried to add a M.2 ssd along with the 2.5 inches ssd and there isn't just enough physical space for both. If you need more storage, the fastest solution is to add an SD card to the laptop. Hope it helps!
Hello, mine came with the NVME and it seems to be failing, I don’t have that Sata plus power connector. But I have an SSD 2.5 inch Samsung ready to install , what can I do?
Hello Roberto, If it is the exact same model as in the video the answer is yes. This model support 2.5 inches HDD/SSD as well as M.2 SSD. Now, if your NVME is still working, which means you still have access to Windows, I would clone it. In other words I would make a copy of the current SSD (NVME) and copy it to the 2.5 Samsung SSD. For Samsung SSD, most of them, you can download a free cloning software from Samsung's website. If that's not the case i have some videos where i clone hard drives with free software. However, you will need a Sata to USB cable in order to do that. Here is the video link: ruclips.net/video/VQ9jQd-SeJw/видео.html Hope it helps Thanks for the comment!
@@robertzottiify Hello Roberto, The cable is called Sata to USB cable. Here is the link for Amazon so you can see it better: amzn.to/2VrEmaa Thanks for the comment!
My IT Workshop thanks for the link, but I need the cable at 7:30 that actually connects the ssd or hard drive to the mother board. Mine didn’t come with it since it came with an nvme.
Do you know why Dell said the battery must be removed before replacing the HDD?
