in a dogfight the only job is to kill the enemy and return to base alive if that means killing a target an ally was unable to make it's fair game anyone who complains lacks understanding of war IRL all of you are fighting for your lives, any help is appreciated and returned later, you kill a target someone else was going for but they might do the same for you, it's all good cus you're all contributing to the battle and your eventual victory in said battle
Most hated things in WT Air RB 1.) Kill Stealers 2.) Players who stay on their runway or circle their base, knowing the OP AA will kill everyone. (Literally see 7 players get taken out by AA at the same time going for one guy...) 3.) Hans operating the AA.
right on the ball, only kill stealers usually steal my kill because of my potato aim and missing half my shots, so at that point it probably isn't even a kill steal.
Just a little advice from a over 5 year player, it's an unspoken rule in air RB that if someone else crits the enemy plane you're tailing, it's his kill, so let him have it.
14:59 Quick tip, you can. It’s a 50/50 chance but if you set your throttle to zero and turn off your engine (press i, I don’t know about ps4 or xbox) and fuel will stop going to your engine, putting out the fire. If the fire is in your wing, you should bail because most of the time your fuel tank is on fire and you can’t drain your fuel.
RedJive213 the pilots werent the ones who yelled “tennoheika banzai” which means “long live his majesty the emperor” it was ground forces when they were charging, banzai charges were at least used on Makin Island, and in the battles of Tenaru, Attu, and the largest Saipan used 4300 soldiers walking wounded and civilians changing the 105th infantry. You are correct about the kamikaze pilots though, im sure the only reason they didn’t tell bonsai was because no one could hear them, but I bet some still did, a Japanese general said “people were outraged by us putting 20 yo in planes and telling them to kill themselves, but putting green pilots with 20 hours flight time against American aces was a death sentence anyway we figured might as well be as effective as possible”
Super Shot By 1944, the zero was out of date. The modern planes the US was putting out could out turn, out climb, and out dive the zekes. Not to mention the three big ones (p47, f4u, p51) all had a higher too speed than the zero in level flight and could out dive them at eveb higher speeds. Plus the zekes were known to blow apart as they had little armor and little reinforcement in essential areas, causing the wing to blow apart typically at the fuselage.
I don’t know a lot about war thunder as I don’t play realistic battles, but i know one thing to do with your plane and it’s in the to left hand corner. In the top left it tells you the status of your engine and oil. When those numbers go into red, that’s when you need to stop using WEP and slow down to let your engine and oil cool down. This will probably get lost in the sea of comments but if you by some chance see this, please like it so that he has a chance to see this. Hope this is helpful! :)
I haven’t played a whole lot of aerial fighting games but I’ve always found it quickest to turn by Decelerating your aircraft then accelerating when the turn is preformed
That’s works well with jets which have the thrust needed to push your speed back up that quickly, but with props once you kill your speed like that you’re going to need five or ten minutes to regain that. In that time anyone at a higher energy state will tear you to shreds and then be gone before you get to shoot back. Edit: when turn fighting a lot of people tend to kill their speed when they aren’t outnumbered to try and get their opponents to overshoot and pass them. The issue is that your opponent will also kill their speed to stay behind you, so then it becomes a game of maneuvers wherein you try not to crash at little to no speed while also dodging bullets. People tend to crash on both sides by stalling, either by going too slow without their flaps down properly or by turning too tight with too little speed. Kills like this are known as “maneuver kills”, and they are absolutely a real thing, but incredibly rare with anything not using or against a propeller plane.
Learned that playing GTA V of all things. I do a lot of super advanced stunting in the jets, and I noticed I pulled up or made sharp turns *wayyy* tighter if I cut off the throttle while making them.
That's incorrect, ENERGY is life, Altitude is insurance, with speed alone you cant do anything, but with energy you can.... Alt you can turn into speed, but speed is not what wins you engagements... As someone who learned me energyfighting told me this: "The E Fighting style (energy fighting), is often confused with the BnZ fighting style (boom & zoom fighting), when in actuality that couldn’t be more further from the truth. Yes BnZ is part of E fighting but that is about as far as it goes. The Energy fighter is the purist of the combat fighter pilots, one who has attained the skills of the boom & zoom fighting style and has combined them with the skills of the turn & burn fighting style (stall fighting). He is aggressively offensive by nature yet maintains the patience needed to quarrel his victim until the most opportune time. To Energy fight you must think both offensive (attacker) mode and defensive (defender) modes at the same time. You must never enter an engagement with less energy, whether your advantage is in altitude, speed, or both. This doesn’t necessarily mean you must always have the alt advantage by no means. One can still have a greater E advantage and still be the lower opponent of the two. For this to work though you must have the ability to tell upon a glance that you are in the catbird’s seat though. SA (situational awareness) plays a big role here. The E Fighting pilot has taken into account every aspect of the fight offered to him, he has studied his plane in and out and knows his plane’s limitations from one end of the flight envelope all the way to the other (from blackout to stall). He has studied each and every type of fighter he might come up against and has learned the advantages and weakness of each, according to how they compare with the plane he is flying, so he knows upfront what he can and cannot do depending on which plane he engages. The E fighter pilot will use his advantages and make his opponent fly to his opponent’s own weaknesses, not letting his opponent use the advantages of his opponent’s plane. Working the process of E fighting means to use low G pulling maneuvers and banking your energy (converting speed to alt) until you bleed your opponent of his energy. At this time you carefully use your SA skills in watching his plane and the way it acts in relation to you and the maneuvers you exercise against him. At times the energy Fighter will be able to use Higher G maneuvers when he is sure he is out of the way of danger and has a substantial energy advantage to do so, most times these High G maneuvers will be in the vertical or near vertical plane of flight, to acquire and store more E to cash in on when needed. As the E fighter bleeds his victim down to a wobbling chunk of metal in the sky he is also scanning the skies of Aces High to keep a look out for any incoming threats. In case there is, he has that saved up E to evade, extend and setup again, but if the skies appear clear he then uses his E advantage and pounces his prey. He has bled him to where the prey cannot evade his onslaught of attacks now and the E fighter has scored another pelt, all by using patience, SA, and aggressiveness. The Energy fighter does not give in to the opponent whether the opponent is a BnZ type or a Turn n Burn type, no sir. He makes the Boom and Zoomer bleed his E to where the BnZer weakens and then turns the tables to acquire the E advantage, He hides his energy well and gives the BnZer a false presentation making the BnZer think he has the advantage when he doesn’t, it is often too late for the BnZer once he realizes the tables have turned against him. As for the Turn and Burn fighter pile-it, The E fighter will act as if he is going to turn with his victim, yet he does not commit to the full extent, he uses oblique turns and out of plane maneuvers to bleed the TnBer until he knows he has the substantial Energy advantage then he suckers the TnBer into thinking he can attain a guns solution and leaves him wollering nose high when he turns the tables and attacks. Fear the Skilled Energy Fighter Pilots ( E Fighters ) they know their stuff and are prone to take you to school!" I have become one of these energy fighter pilots after a lot of practice and a lot of effort, but it pays off every time.
Level 100 Player Here, first off its really good seeing new players coming in, im glad you are enjoying the game. Anyways here are some tips for Realistic Battles (RB) and the game in general. 1)Look at your minimap more often they tell you where the enemy targets(that are close) and could help you. 2)Check the kill feed(bottom right), it tells you who killed who and also what you damaged on the enemy targets that you hit. 3)This is for more experienced players but play with yaw controls a bit (Q and E), they can be helpful but a little weird to get used to at first. 4)The best way to figure out what your aircraft is capable of is by playing it, sure some prior knowledge is helpful, also watch some WT guides on aircraft. 5)Flaps can be your friends, although dont try and use them at high speeds since they can rip. "F" changes flaps for the conditions in which your plane is in (i.e. in regular flight only Raised and Combat, when gear is down Landing and Raised) however some flaps are really good for certain situations and you can manually switch to any flaps by pressing the [ ] (bracket keys). 6) Yes combat flaps can be good for turning but Landing/Takeoff flaps are better for turning than Combat, however when you deploy Landing/Takeoff flaps they do decrease your speed somewhat drastically, but you can turn better so use them wisely. 7)Upgrade your crew. While in the hanger click on and hover on aircraft/tank> Crew. Various upgrades can increase pilot survivability, awareness, G-tolerance etc, as well as reload and repair speeds. Crew points can be earned by playing the game. 8)Last tip(sorry for so much info) Dont be afraid to play with your throttle, sometimes its better to reduce throttle when your approaching an enemy from behind that way you dont overshoot them(overshooting a target could give them a short moment for them to take you out). Its also good to reduce throttle when diving from a very high altitude since in RB you can Rip your wings from high speeds. Also reducing throttle will cool off your engine when over heating. (Dont hold WEP (afterburner) for so long it overheats engine). 9) Have Fun! Hope you try tanks too!
Magnus Thoegersen Lol, I don’t wanna see this game die. I invested amount of time and some money so I’ll be sad the day this game dies. The elitists think that this game can’t be saved. While I do agree this game has taken some negative steps (mainly tier 6 premiums that are just hidden under the mask of a tier 5 tank). Anyways, when I see new players I want to help them out. And if their a RUclipsr even better since they can actually reach out to other people. If you ever wanna play my ign is: APVP_7
Other tips include: Learn each plane's strength and weakness especially which altitude the plane performs best, radar besides the minimap can help to spot nearby enemies. Sideclimb for stock planes, fly close to teammates and also the team chat is a great tool for communication, especially if you can get into a squad.
I ll add you..I'm 21lvl playing for some years . I think the problem with this game is the RP system. Tanks and airplanes would be in one game mode cuz now it's like 2 different games (soon 3 with the Navy) so it needs LOT of playtime for a player in order to have a decent amount of tanks and planes. An Army+Aviation arcade/realistic battle would be very interesting. Btw, almost never used Q and E while flying, only sometimes when I try to avoid fire. Any tip for Q+E? Is it really helpful?
Hey nic, if you didn’t know, you can hold your throttle for WEP (on most planes). WEP is basically a boost in power, and depending on the plane is pretty long
those do17s can take enough bullets that the guy who's shooting you can run out of ammo, give up and head back to base but if they hit any of your control lines you're doomed
You introduced me to my new favourite game. I’m tier 4 now with Germany and 3 with Japan, haven’t spent a cent and I’m having a blast. Please play more warthunder, even if you’re not the best warthunder RUclipsr you are one of the most enjoyable to watch. Thanks Niccaman!
Stuck within tier III borderline tier IV because I'm grinding in tanks too which i always get knocked out start of match they have very insane peripheral vision damn i need a second check with binos to see where are they
Cedric Canaveral yeah dude tanks are hard, I’m a much better pilot. I actually enjoy ships right now, especially because a lot of the pilots in naval battles aren’t that good and focus on ground pounding.
The technique was fine, however your tactics were a little off. What I mean by that is that you dropped 6,000 feet for one bandit. Ideally, you want to avoid throwing that much altitude unless there are no feasible targets at altitude. Take that with a pinch of salt though as you helped clear the 406 and freed up 2 or 3 friendly aircraft. Also, the next highest enemy was likely that Hurricane and he looked to be 5000 feet at most. I've shed thousands of feet like that and made a tactical mistake or two myself. More often than not. Not a bad effort overall. (Tl;dr: Yes and No.)
@xXBagel NutzXx Far from being a pro mate, just enough experience of having got it massively wrong ;p. Strangely my highest air kills have been in the A-20G and some of the heavy bombers. Yeah, fear me when I have a turret XD. As for fighters in general, Spit Vb/Trop is nice, as is Tiffy 1b/L. Think my best fighter at the moment is the 109 F-4. Twin 20mm, twin Mausers and twin 15mm cannon when you unlock pods. Hello and goodbye to the enemy's face.
Hey he is still learning, newbies makes mistakes and he'll learn. I mean he already took a massive step by going from Arcade to realistic. Now he just needs to learn when to use his flaps for tighter turns and for better control within loops and proper throttle control. He turned on his flaps which was good, but then he turned off his WEP and went down to 68% throttle instead which lowered the torque to pull him through the turn.
0:59 reminded me about how I wanted to be a fighter pilot. I spent years wanting to be a fighter pilot so badly that I spent months learning Basic Fighter Maneuvers (BFM) and eventually Air Combat Maneuvers (ACM) which are more advanced. When I say that I learned them, I mean properly studied them, and everything. I took notes, I found several-hour long videos and watched them from start to finish. I found diagrams, learnt the terminology, and even tried to practice in flight simulators. And then, in the end.... I never even applied. So I recognised and remembered every single one of those diagrams in that little clip 😂
@@havochurricane5660 idk, I have been trying it recently, but there's something about it that isn't really me. I think it's the fact that you have to unlock all the newer aircraft. I don't really like older planes as much, and would much rather just pick a jet such as an F14 and fly that, instead of having to fly older planes and then unlock the newer aircraft. That's part of the reason why I wanna get DCS
Only happens when on the same LoS (Line of Sight) but if you are on a different angle and not pure pursuing just lead pursuing you can go for the kill or if you accidentally shot down a teammate be prepared because it will be a 3-way engagements hostile and friendly aircraft against you, you will be a imaginary team of your own lol
@@Resinless-ov3sr Lol true but still some angles yes, but not all the time, yet I always in the begginning of the game before they patched it I would MG my ally bombers as a bomber and be the dominant one. But still especially in a 1 on 1 dogfight a wingman can always draw the fire or of course take down the enemy plane fighting you.
Boom and zoom was a technique that technically wasn’t dogfighting. The idea was that your in an aircraft that has poorer turn characteristics than the opposing enemy. Like you stated with energy, your aircraft will loose energy far more quickly than that of the enemies. Thus, instead of attempt to turn and get a clear 6 advantage, you simply engaged at high speed and then disengage with that energy in a climb. Often also called fighting in the vertical, if the situation ever sees the enemy aircraft turning into your attack, you would use your superior altitude to disengage from that enemy and attack someone else. The only problem with boom and zoom in video games however is that its actually an ambush tactic. In a game, where you can see 360 degrees around you, and everyone has markers, it looses its number 1 value. In the end, when it comes to BZ in video games, it only really works with a ton of speed and excellent climb, and only with one enemy per pounce.
I acutely try BnZ when I was fighting alone again enemy plane that has faster turn rate.......it work...manage to get out his range couple of time and climb back again until he give up and I repeatedly harassed him with BnZ took me quite time to finely land a critical blow well since he flew far away from his allies I am having a blast.
I've used it before on cloudy maps, having a squad mate tell me where they see enemies, and me flying over their location and diving. Only works in a plane that can REAAALLY dive hard and survive, and only on realistic battle. I've done it with a Hitlerbolt at least 2 out of 6 times successfully, granted, my skill level isnt too high, could work with more practice
Hey I’m gonna recommend this because when you first used the Bf-109 against the spitfire I noticed this, when doing a head on if they are not going up or down aim below them. I learned that once I played arcade and saw the aiming assist BELOW the enemy plane in a head-on.
It's amazing to see people getting into it fresh. I've been playing War Thunder for a number of years now, started as a kid, now I play War Thunder as an "adult" if you can call me that.
For altitude and distance I use meters and kilometers. But for speed it depends on the plane. If it is US/UK, then it is on mph as to better know when it is safe for me to deploy my flaps (Spitfire as an example has it saying that you should deploy the flaps below 140 mph) Just I dont destroy my flaps or landing gear because of speed. I using km/h for any other nation that I know or had seen using the metric system (Still a nightmare in case for the soviets and japanese planes, as I cant read those XD )
As a total propeller-head and retired WarThunder Bf-109 main, i can safely say that you have no idea what you are doing, but it was entertaining nonetheless :) Edit: Hey Niccaman, i just downloaded WarThunder again after a long while away and i'll say i'm impressed with the new sounds and how smooth the mouse controls are now. Well if you ever want a wingman just hit me up, it's nice to see someone genuinely enjoying the game anymore.
Hey I was surprised by how much he improved in a single video, he's doing incredible for being a newiee, he searched for tactics, adopted them; he still has to get better in a lot but, you can't deny he's learning fast
Actually, as a veteran of WT myself, you are doing very well in this first battle. As best as I could expect, not always will you be able to fly fancy tactics to save your life heh.
I remember never being able to take off. The engine torque or whatever would throw me to the left even when moving stick fully to the right to counter the torque with ailerons. Speed up on runway > barely lift off >plane flips and i die. About 25 tries i gave up. I really enjoyed that game.
@@framebot Ok i just googled, apparently there is a propeller pitch settings that you have to adjust. Without it tuned correctly the rudder wont work. Considering its a rolling affect, that should be countered by ailerons, not rudder. correct? anyway, what a game
You gotta keep thinking "what's my energy state" Literally always. Remember maneouvering bleeds energy Flaps will do that even more but are usefull in right situation. Don't forget height isn't automatically the highest energy state. A slow high aircraft vs a very fast lower aircraft could mean the lower aircraft has a higher potential energy. You can use this to trap unwary pilots. Certain planes suit the boom and zoom, especially later ww2 planes like 190s and p51s. Try this in these planes, make yourself never fall below a certain speed. Make yourself fly disciplined. As soon as you bleed speed dive away and retain your energy. Eventually you'll get to know what planes can or cannot match you. Also learn the "yo-yo" maneouver, high and low yo-yos. And "scissors" You'll find yourself using these the most early days.
As someone with years of learning about aviation, history and playing simulators including: a lot of Il2 1946 and maybe even more of this game I can see a lot of mistakes. But I commend your effort and I like how you try to teach people the science behind it. ;) The mistake that bugged me the most was when you kept talking about potential energy and the importance of altitude , but then proceeded to lose all your altitude and dog-fight a Hayabusa at sealevel but otherwise it's a good effort and keep on getting better. :)
@@alexipestov7002 too bad my irl friends have no desire to play these kinds of games with me (and in like csgo and shit I'm too good for them so it kinda sucks lol)
To be fair, the US planes show up late because they mostly climb like an asthmatic 90 yr old janitor on his way to the penthouse, so they have to take the scenic route to battle.
6:00 your plane actually hasn't taken that much damage, your lucky in a head on if you get that little of damage. Just a little tip, your if your wing or really anywhere which isn't that important and it's yellow, your fine. I know you don't know everything about the game but I just wanted to let you know.
You're getting a lot better from the start Nicca. Since you've decided to graduate yourself from arcade to realistic, I recommend watching magz. He's the one I learned to dog fight from.
Yeahyeahyeah.... RB leetism righ from the fuckin bat, learn to at least be respectful to Arcade, it's not JUST A STEPPING stone for those to go to RB. AB has its merits and is so far a place you can have better fun without relying on team nation composition.
@@oliverbarnes8191, oh really. Go try beat the best AB player in AB then. Do AB guys keep saying RB mains are just leetist trash that just go minmax? Do we keep telling every fucking RB youtuber to make AB content because fucl what they like? Do we keep being dicks anywhere to the guys who show preference for another mode other than RB? Do we bash you for saying you are good when barely any of you have Simulator time, where TRUE pilot skill is actually needed? Do we? Respect the damn fact that AB is a mode on its own that DOESN'T SERVE TO BE BASHED by you there RB leetists. Who never wanted a bit of less High skill ceiling shit to play for FUN? Go on, keep that attitude, gonna really attract LOTs of players that could give extra life to the game....
As a WT regular, yes you have gained my interest, and honestly this is probably one of the better intro videos. Realistic definitely has a learning curve and you will need to spend a little time reading the wiki if you aren't a super aviation history fan and already know how the aircraft you're flying is supposed to perform, as well as vs the enemy teams aircraft. So good job! Keep up the good work, and I look forward to your phly video.
Tier 1 realistic is a good introduction into the mode, although keep in mind, there's no lead indicator, limited ammo, and if you dive to fast you can rip your wings. Thankfully most bi-planes in war thunder are very forgiving in those areas. It will just take some practice.
Your friend got ripped off or he got one of the premium packages for an early start or a package to gain access to some closed beta test (helicopter/tank/boats) or he's playing in a XBOX that needs XBOX live while the PS4 doesn't need PSN Plus.
ME-163 used to do the boom and zoom. Wildcats used to chase the Zeroes, and then stall out and fall. During that stall the Zeroes would roll over and shred them apart
I wouldn't consider myself an expert, but I can say I'm quite experienced. In my position, I would say you got the basics right (Boom and zooming, energy conversion/retention...), now it's just a matter of practicing and getting better. You still make some basic errors (when aiming or turning against enemies) but the concepts are well understood, those problems are solved with time. Now, keep playing and have fun ;)
17:41 Do *not* turn your side towards the enemy when in a vertical loop. Stay upside down and keep turning upwards from the point of view of your plane in the Bf 109 E series. You loose *so* much energy when you try to turn sideways.
War thunder realistic battle is as good as it gets, on the other hand, bf5 piloting is straight up trash, all fighters have identical speed, maneuverability, turn rate, and climb rate, which makes the the game not skill based, it just comes down to who spots the other first the simplest way of improving planes is making planes different, in war thunder spitfire can out turn a bf109 easily while bf109 is faster and its 20mm cannon shreds planes, they should each have their unique strengths and weaknesses
Umm, 20 early 109s have MG-FF 20mms not MG151 and they have lower explosive filler than the mineshells used in the 151s. Spitfires also have 20mms you know.
Harrison I’m talking about war thunder arcade mode which is probably as simple as a plane game can get, and it’s still far more realistic than the floating air boats in bf5. If you think floating air boats with no skill gaps are fun, then I guess bf5 planes are for you
The Luftwaffe’s pilots and service men were expelled from the Nazi Party, they weren’t allowed to join for some reason. Just clarifying that it’s truely German tactics and not ”Nazi”
The same is true for the "Heer" (Ground Forces) and the "Kriegsmarine" (Navy), and I don't think you want to be suggesting that Soldiers of the SS were no Nazis only because they couldn't join the political party.
Ya but the Luftwaffe ran the concentration camps. I realize that it wasnt pilots or anybody stationed at airfields that partook in atrocities, just sayin'....
It was a meaningless expulsion, a pre-war concession to the military as it wanted to stand apart from the Nazi party (But not actually oppose starting an enormous war of enslavement). The policy was waived not long after the war started, as this surface-level detachment from the Nazis was made pointless.
I'm kinda confused by your comment. Are you trying to say that the Luftwaffe was filled with Nazis or just telling him that some could have been Nazis without officially being in the party? Cause it kinda sounds like you're trying to say the former, no offense.
What u guys think - I might even be teaming up with the almighty PhlyDaily in an upcoming video ;) - bit.ly/2Ck0ewK Check out War Thunder for free and get a premium tank or aircraft - v2.xyz/WarThunderWithNiccaman
German engines run off of pure sauerkraut. They can still be bright red and outclimb a lot of planes. Especially, but not specifically the 109f series.
Oh, I remember playing realistic mode! My engine overheated while taking off, my plane went down, bent its propeller, lost both its wings and some tail parts and stopped somwhere in dense bushes! ...I guess I'm not a very good pilot...
I’ve been playing War Thunder for 6 years now and I had really high anxiety at the start of this video lmao. I thought you were going to rip your wings. Btw, if you have enemies on your 6, fly towards teammates as you will make great bait.
put your roll controls on "A" and "D" and Pitch up to "S" and Pitch down to "W" and when in a dogfight use that. only use mouse for more fine aim like slow turns or changing climb degree.
ONCE YOU KNOW HOW TO AIM, use only stealth. Until then use Air Targets or Omni-Purpose for most guns, and play around with stealth. Once you get good enough with those specific weapons that you don't need tracers, stealth is always the way to go. Unless you just want to intimidate the crap out of people with tracer belts, which aren't super effective.
Aim is a bit off, but you will get there! Glad to see more content creators coming to WT... Best of luck! (also do not camp the airfield, that's an unwritten law of War thunder air rb)
Im pretty good at this game so im gonna help u... Never (really never) shoot at a plane that is faster than u unless u are on its tail... Always know the enemies planes, to know their charapteristics... Use the right kind of ammo (even universal could be good) Do not get too much G force, it influences the maneuver speed for the whole game. Hope this basic tricks helped u!
When he wrote "How to fly like a man" then paused and wrote "mango" instead of "man", I laughed so hard myself parents thought I was having a seizure.. Subbed dude
When you want to gain Altitude you should use the Chandelle Maneuver to do this you need to 1/4 looping up, straight vertical (full power) until the aircraft loses momentum. The aircraft falls backwards, tail first, until the nose drops through the horizon to a vertical down position. 1/4 loop (push or pull) to recover to level flight.
The Flying Tigers were experts at boom and zoom with P-40s against Zeros in China. I did notice that you were employing rolling scissors, which will bleed off excess speed and help you change direct easily.
Engage combat flaps at high speed (300+) pull up as hard as you can and flip to face the person behind you and shred them. You’ll turn on them so fast they’ll almost be unable to dodge your shots.
Oi Nicca, the thumbnail says “using nazi tactics” but just a heads-up, it would be more accurate to say, “using Luftwaffe tactics,” because even in WWII, not many of the German Luftwaffe pilots were Nazis. Keep up the good work!
if by not nazis you mean they weren't a part of the NSDAP you are correct, but they surely agreed with what the government was doing, as was the rest of the population
weeed ington sure, they complied with their superiors who were, indeed, Nazis (they’d be killed for treason otherwise), but the average Luftwaffe pilot wasn’t a Jew-loathing fundamentalist-he was just fighting for his country. Of course there were exceptions, but a majority of Luftwaffe pilots were following orders and not clued into the atrocities being committed on the home front. Many of even the most prestigious Luftwaffe aces left Germany disillusioned and ashamed of what their country had done after the war (Gunther Rall and Franz Stigler are two prominent examples)
weeed ington we killed far more German civilians in bombing raids than the Luftwaffe killed raiding Allied cities-and yet we have the luxury of being the victors, so we can say that they were evil and we were justified. It’s easy to sit back 75 years later and casually cast judgement. It’s not always so simple however, and hindsight may skew our perspective or blind us to developing a full and complete understanding of the terrible, cataclysmic events of war as they happened-both sides killed with reckless abandon. Does that make those who firebombed Dresden Nazis any more than the German kids who hit London?
weeed ington you seem to be misinterpreting my point that the average Luftwaffe pilot was not a fanatical party fundamentalist and assuming that I am being a Nazi apologist somehow. Allow me to reiterate: _of course_ the Luftwaffe high command were Nazis, and of course the missions of the Luftwaffe were planned and ordered by Nazis. That is, as you have clearly indicated, undebatable. Goering was pure evil-one of the worst of the worst; he was a paranoid, vile man. And the Nazis themselves were, of course, evil. My point was about the average Luftwaffe pilot. You’d likely be incorrect if you assumed that your average 109 pilot was a fully-involved Party member whose political, ideological ambitions motivated him to climb into the cockpit every morning. Sure, his superiors at the highest point in his chain of command who were calling the major strategic shots were Nazis, but the average pilot was doing what he was ordered because to refuse orders in wartime is treason. You make it sound like each of the individuals in the Luftwaffe was a concentration camp guard which is simply untrue-like each individual pilot couldn’t wait to take some black and white paint to hand-illustrate swastikas on the sides of their aircraft (as if any other country’s air force abstains from painting identifiers or symbols on their aircraft, standard across squadrons during wartime). Sure, they may not have paused when ordered to hit civilian targets, but plenty of nations specifically target civilians during wars of large scales. Targeting civilians and major population centers, while regrettable and terrible, was a tactic employed by both sides during the war, since during total war, every influential city is seen as a means of war production and is therefore considered a valid target. London, the center of an enemy government, could be seen as just as strategic a target as we saw Berlin, for example. The targeting of civilians was a tactic employed before the Nazi ideology was even considered and it will likely still be employed even after it is forgotten. The Nazis were awful, and by extension, the missions on which they sent their pilots during the early war were awful, but the pilots themselves, as members of the military, had to comply with their orders or die, and many of them were not the vile, racist scum which comprised their high-command.
@M. Asotic And what is that supposed to mean? They are just tactics the Luftwaffe used. They were not influenced in any way by the political powers of that time, they would also have been in existance if Germany had been ruled by social democrats at the time. Quick tip, you can.
I usually pitch up and the fire is out most of the times. Not 100%
If you have self-sealing fuel tanks wing fires may go out before spreading and you’ll be fine.
I hear ripping off the steering controls and yeeting them into the engine has the same effect too.

I see so many planes that think they are more fucking manuverable than my zero.

If you don’t know this you shouldn’t play realistic...
I haven’t played a whole lot of aerial fighting games but I’ve always found it quickest to turn by Decelerating your aircraft then accelerating when the turn is preformed
:) when speed is increased in a turn your turning radius is decreased so yes exactly!
If you have more than 1 Enemy shooting at you
This tactic is a Death sentence
Learned that playing GTA V of all things. I do a lot of super advanced stunting in the jets, and I noticed I pulled up or made sharp turns *wayyy* tighter if I cut off the throttle while making them.

Speed is life, altitude is life insurance.
Is it on xbox one?
Speed isn't life...
SPEED IS KEY!!!!!!!!!!!!
SoldiersCaptain HAPPY WHEELS!!!!
That's incorrect, ENERGY is life, Altitude is insurance, with speed alone you cant do anything, but with energy you can.... Alt you can turn into speed, but speed is not what wins you engagements...
As someone who learned me energyfighting told me this:
"The E Fighting style (energy fighting), is often confused with the BnZ fighting style (boom & zoom fighting), when in actuality that couldn’t be more further from the truth.
Fear the Skilled Energy Fighter Pilots ( E Fighters ) they know their stuff and are prone to take you to school!"
I have become one of these energy fighter pilots after a lot of practice and a lot of effort, but it pays off every time.

Appreciate the tips, buddy!

The technique was fine, however your tactics were a little off. What I mean by that is that you dropped 6,000 feet for one bandit. Ideally, you want to avoid throwing that much altitude unless there are no feasible targets at altitude.
Take that with a pinch of salt though as you helped clear the 406 and freed up 2 or 3 friendly aircraft. Also, the next highest enemy was likely that Hurricane and he looked to be 5000 feet at most.
I've shed thousands of feet like that and made a tactical mistake or two myself. More often than not. Not a bad effort overall.

Now he just needs to learn when to use his flaps for tighter turns and for better control within loops and proper throttle control.
He turned on his flaps which was good, but then he turned off his WEP and went down to 68% throttle instead which lowered the torque to pull him through the turn.

I spent years wanting to be a fighter pilot so badly that I spent months learning Basic Fighter Maneuvers (BFM) and eventually Air Combat Maneuvers (ACM) which are more advanced.
Air-headed Aviator it's close enough
Well there's Simulator mode in WT that locks you into cockpit view only and more realistic control setup.
any energy fighting is considered dogfighting ; it's just a different form of it.

You gotta keep thinking "what's my energy state"
Literally always.
Remember maneouvering bleeds energy
Flaps will do that even more but are usefull in right situation.
And "scissors"
You'll find yourself using these the most early days.
The higher aircraft always gets through.

"Got a tail gunner, you ass"

I thought this game cost money. My friend had paid for it. (I play on console, not sure if it's different from PC).

Do *not* turn your side towards the enemy when in a vertical loop.
Stay upside down and keep turning upwards from the point of view of your plane in the Bf 109 E series.
You loose *so* much energy when you try to turn sideways.
Every Japanese plane: "I am turn" *proceeds to circle around you like there's no tomorrow*
War thunder realistic battle is as good as it gets, on the other hand, bf5 piloting is straight up trash, all fighters have identical speed, maneuverability, turn rate, and climb rate, which makes the the game not skill based, it just comes down to who spots the other first
the simplest way of improving planes is making planes different, in war thunder spitfire can out turn a bf109 easily while bf109 is faster and its 20mm cannon shreds planes, they should each have their unique strengths and weaknesses
Umm, 20 early 109s have MG-FF 20mms not MG151 and they have lower explosive filler than the mineshells used in the 151s. Spitfires also have 20mms you know.

The Luftwaffe’s pilots and service men were expelled from the Nazi Party, they weren’t allowed to join for some reason. Just clarifying that it’s truely German tactics and not ”Nazi”
I believe they simply called it "Impartiality." Not sure if that's just an accurate term or what they actually referred to it as at the time.

They were flying for Nazi Germany, their tactics were Nazi tactics as a plain descriptor.
6:00 “I have taken a lot of damage” Boy u ain’t seen s*it
The thumbnail rubs me the wrong way. There is no such thing as "Nazi tactics" in the Luftwaffe.
@M. Asotic And what is that supposed to mean? They are just tactics the Luftwaffe used. They were not influenced in any way by the political powers of that time, they would also have been in existance if Germany had been ruled by social democrats at the time.
There is no such thing as "Nazi tactics".
