    You're not on a 737-800. You are on a Max, you can tell by the winglets. They must have made a last-minute aircraft swap which is how you got the NEXT interior. I was just on a UA Max 8 a few weeks ago and I loved the interior.

      Damn, looks like you are right. Again I really wasn't planning/expecting to film this. I have no exterior shots of the plane, or even of the engines. My ticket when I bought it said -800, so I just assumed it was one with the newer winglets. But MyFlightradar24 indeed says it was a MAX9. Thank you and Pinned.

    I recently flew United and I'm delighted to say that was one of the best flights I've ever taken. Very modern and clean interior, modern touch screens that worked and had good movies, friendly staff, good food.
    I never in my life thought an American airline could be such a great experience

      Agreed-- Delta really shot themselves in the proverbial foot when they overhauled their Skymiles program. Still, it's about the best in-flight experience of the big three domestic airlines. United and American are in a race to the bottom when it comes to friendly crews. And say what you want about Delta, but they seem to have far, far fewer mechanical problems than the others--and when Delta does have a problem, it's discovered and resolved before flying, which means all the passengers and crew are still safely on the ground. United doesn't seem to care that major problems are discovered at 35,000 feet above ground.

      I wish. Sam had just finished the race to Key West and didn’t want to talk about the season/spoil it (see discussion of the webcam in Key West on the Layover Podcast on Nebula). He only said that he had “just finished filming a season.” He was reviewing a cut of the Wendover video about the Oct 7 attack before his flight, so I just said hi but let him work before he flew to Colorado. He did see my IG post, so yes, I guess Sam actually knows who I am IRL.

    As for that video of Kirby, it really was pretty cringe wasn't it? Not because he was in drag, like do whatever you want, he's just really bad at dancing. I mean the guy makes $18 million a year, you think he could afford to take lessons or something.

    At 1:30, you actually expected a United crew to give helpful or friendly information to a passenger? Hahahahaha! Well, that joke is on you. United can switch to the most sophisticated IFE in the world, but until their employee attitudes change, they will always be my last choice when flying. Good old United--taking off with a visibly broken wing, losing aircraft parts mid-flight, and nasty flight attendants along the way makes them a terrible choice for flying. But glad to know they have Android tablets in their seatbacks--much like putting lipstick on a pig.

    Yep, airline points aren't worth having. I fly my own plane, so on shorter trips I don't need to fly the kerosene queen, but on those occasions I do, I would rather get the cheap seat than let the airline keep my money, interest-free, until I finally get to go in one of their chintzy overcrowded airport lounges. Why spend time in the airport at all, if I don't need to?

    I am sad that Delta has fallen off its grace. United has gotten a lot better. Like I said, they took the pandemic to reset and got ahead of Delta. I would even argue that AA has better hard products than DL but the AA is less punctual than DL. Bluetooth connection on IFE works great! DL is so behind on this.

    • @K4Ediamond
      @K4Ediamond Месяц назад +5

      IMO Delta still has a much better hard product than American, at least for short/medium haul. But I haven’t flown Delta long haul in a decade so I don’t know about that one.

    • @ajs11201
      @ajs11201 Месяц назад +1

      @@K4Ediamond I fly a lot of Delta, albeit almost exclusively domestic. That said, I've flown short-haul, long-haul, and regional connectors, all of which have been fine experiences. I can't think of a single Delta flight over the past 5 years that hasn't landed before its stated arrival time. I'll grant you that Delta made a hot mess out of its Skymiles program when they recently revamped that, but their flights and crews are still working quite well in my opinion. United may have glitzy new screens in their seatbacks, but they can't manage to figure out the airplane's wing is cracked without a passenger pointing it out as they're about to take off. So, yeah, I'll stick with Delta.

      @@ajs11201 Delta is on time partly because it pads the schedule. Go look at an identical route and it always takes longer on Delta as far as scheduling is concerned. Delta has its share of delays and issues. I've gotten stuck in LAX, DTW, ATL, JFK more times than I care to remember.

    • @ajs11201
      @ajs11201 Месяц назад

      @@_w_w_ Yes, they absolutely pad their schedule. As a passenger, wouldn't you prefer to see a landing time of 4:00 and know that you've touched down at 3:40 rather than seeing a landing time of 4:00 and touching down at 4:10? Have you ever heard a passenger complain because they landed a few minutes prior to the scheduled arrival time? And, yes, all airlines and airports have delays. I've never said I wasn't delayed or inconvenienced on a Delta flight, but the numbers of in-flight problems and delays on Delta are far fewer than on any other domestic airline. Delta's problems make the headlines about twice a year. United's make the news about twice a week.

    • @_w_w_
      @_w_w_ Месяц назад

      @@ajs11201 Your thinking is too simple. By padding the schedule, it can create illegal connections that would be otherwise possible. You have to think about connecting to other DL flights and SkyTeam partner flights. I am a DL DM and MM. Your perception is old and distorted. UA did get a bad storm of issues but if you look at DL, it equally had blown tires, fallen off wheels, engine fires... If you know where to look, you will find these issues just as much on DL. Especially with aging 757/767, there are more and more issues nowadays. It's the media narrative that DL is best and UA Is not, so they focus on UA negativity only. UA was not great but they took the pandemic to reset and now is ahead of DL. I started to fly UA because of the crazy SkyPesos change last year, and UA is actually better than DL in my opinion. For one, I leave a UA international flight without being hungry whereas DL's flight leaves me hungry. They both got rid of old FAs and hired a lot of new younger ones, so there aren't a lot of differences. UA was bad when it comes to food but they really ramped up in 2024.
