Far and away the best marching show in the country in 2013, and maybe the cleanest Texas show I've ever seen. An absolute master class. Really. Every designer should study that opener. It's clever, immediately establishes the theme, flows seamlessly, unfolds magically, has a wonderful sense of space and integration of the color guard, and is, of course, totally thrilling. Keep trying new things, Woodlands!
Certainly, Hebron has never performed a show as clean as this. In fact, visual-related captions are what cost them the national title in 2015. They are, of course, fabulous musically!
Marcus' show was indeed clean in 2012, but it was not as clean as this, especially when you take into account that this show was much more difficult visually. Marcus 2012 also tied for the visual caption at SA, which makes the cleanest ever argument a bit more difficult to substantiate. Nevertheless, Marcus 2012 is one of my favorites!
Julia Cooper i go to a high school close by the woodlands (not really but i’m in the same area for uil as them) and they are definitely one of the bigger bands here. i know some ppl who go there and they rlly encourage the marching band program
This show won? It seems odd and without a compelling drill. I just see a huge amount of people crammed close together. They do SOUND excellent though. I'd like to hear their wind ensemble and concert bands.
Marimbas, Vibraphones, and Xylophones. usually less Xylophones than the others (they are way louder and usually the top percussionists in the 'pit' play them.
Alex Croney Nope. I mean it seems like a lot, but whatever works for them works! If thats what it takes to almost win BOA San Antonio (they got 2nd) and go to State finals that year then thats what it takes! A lot of it has to do with how spread out their show is and whether or not time can be seen on the field by everyone at all points in the show. They only had 5 this year though. Just depends on the show and the leadership they feel is best suited for them I guess 🤷🏼♂️

Trixie Hebron
Cleanest Texas show ever was Marcus in 2012

+Trixie well yes visually the tie w/ TWHS is alright, but their music book was flawless, which TWHS here isn't quite
I'll never forget seeing this live at BOA Conroe finals after my band performed. Truly phenomenal
Saw it live on Finals night. Greatest show I’ve ever seen. Period!
I was sitting up front and I trust me I hear that brass
2nd favorite BOA Grand Nat. performance ever, right after Broken Arrow HS 2011!

Division 1...my opinion
Why so many xylophones?
Marimbas, Vibraphones, and Xylophones. usually less Xylophones than the others (they are way louder and usually the top percussionists in the 'pit' play them.
That's just how TWHS rolls
5 drum majors? Interesting...
Alex Croney lol lots of Texas schools have five drum majors
Oh my Lord.
Alex Croney they had 6 in 2016
Are you kidding me?
