Imo this is really underrated. "Parodies" do it in general, but his corruptions of these songs really change perceptions of the originals. To me it fits in his "mental illness" album designs as Caretaker, but instead of alzheimers or dementia its like a auditory version of what love songs sound or come across as when depressed, angry, heartbroken, a song you shared with someone who cheated on you real bad etc. Where songs about hope and love are twisted into something that overpowers and agitates, or sound cynical and hopeless, like hearing one when nobody invites you to a dance while youre in the corner watching your crush happy with someone else. I dunno i just feel like this and Haunted Ballroom get passed over too much in favor of his later stuff

@@pedroivog.s.6870 the caretaker was originally just another subset of v/vm, as he made a lot of different tracks under many different (mostly hodgepodge) names at the time. look at releases like "the v/vm christmas pudding" and youll see that most of the tracks are made by him, just under different aliases. like "butcher claws" or "professor broxburn". but it started forming into its own after the release of selected memories from the haunted ballroom

@@StomachAcid I know it's Granada. I initially made the comment before I knew the actual origin of the Hell Sirens sample. The only reason I edited it to say PROBABLY not is because I have no idea if Kirby actually sampled the same track at the timestamp as well, just that it sounds similar to that segment in Stage 4.
From what I heard, Kirby was kind of ashamed of his earlier music and that's one of the reasons why nobody has posted all of his stuff to yt. That's why I've been spending the past half a year trying to find it all.
Kirby tries to keep it off of the internet, people say he’s ashamed of it but i think he wants to keep it to the physical copies, like it was back when vvm was running.
I also think that this shouldn't be played to anyone at any time anywhere forever. Never ever. Or everyone everywhere all the time forever. Or maybe in moderation? I'm not sure.

The first song of this album make you feel sexual harrased for an ugly creature that only desire you
So yes that is the intention

vaporwave on krokodil and PCP
Makes a rpg maker surreal horror city exploring game with custom assets with this album as the soundtrack in my head
I bought this on an off chance at uni and as soon as I heard Take my Beef Away I knew I was in the presense of genius. Take me back.

@@NosemanYTjust a one off of a take on the Shining's dance hall scene of warbly, echoey waltzes and Caretaker took off..
oh flashbacks of him singing Lady In Red at the Scam Event in Hasselt (BE). just brutal noise and grunt vocals, loved it!

Kirby was Vaporwave before Vaporwave
Because it's plunderphonics invented by John Oswald in '85. Anyway Leyland is a genious!

I concur ❤😊

Leyland Kirby is basically the OG vaporwave artist.
Yes he and Daniel Lopatin

this was a bad decision
These are the beginning of Kirby.
We have lost something beauty 😭😭😭
Am I the only one who finds it weird that a lot of v/vm songs and albums have been online for several years, and only now is it getting popular?
i think they are getting popular because of the popularity of EATEOT and people are going down the Leyland Kirby rabbit hole 🤷♂
Stop it, I like it.
