Worth mentioning that SnapTap and similar functions from other companies are already being banned in many competitive shooters, and in terms of Anticheat-detection these types of inputs are easily detected, Don't buy products based on software features that are subject to change. The real benefit to these keyboards is for the people who don't like buying new products often, as the, Avg. Rated Presses for Optical/Hall Effect Switches make the numbers for Mechanical Keyboards look like a joke and Membrane Keyboards which already were far behind Mechanical now don't even qualify as Also-rans. With that said, I'm a bit skeptical about the addition of Silicone sound dampening in this keyboard, as when it inevitably deteriorates it could lead to uneven feeling and sounding keypresses, and maybe even interfere with the optical sensors, doing the complete opposite of what it was "designed" for, since this isn't a custom keyboard where the user is intended to be able to replace and repair parts of it, this has the potential to harm the longevity and vibe of what would be an otherwise long-lasting product. Probably better off going with one from Keychron, Wooting or Razer if Optical/Hall-Effect Keyboards are something you're interested in right now, but you're not wanting to go full custom.

It took me a while to notice that this was a ShortCircuit video because the thumbnail that I saw didn't have a LTT worker in it, and after looking at the channel I noticed that I did miss like 3 other videos for the same reason. If I had seen that Plouffe was the one giving is first impression of the keyboard I would have watched it sooner
I've used a few Corsair keyboards and they've always had too many compromises that are very evident long term. They are doing creative and good things with their design and technology but the price and compromises keep me from staying with them long term. I stay with keychron for the most part. They're priced right, almost no compromise, and they let you customize the keyboard where a company like Corsair will either not let you, or lock that behind a pretty high cost to entry keyboard. I think the main stream companies that are making these boutique keyboards need to see the actual competition and what they are doing, what they're letting consumer do to their keyboards and the price they're selling those keyboards for.
I want to thank Corsair guys for noticing the message, and Sir Plouffe for reviewing K70 Pro. I've got my hands on attack shark and fell absolutely in love with hall switches. Looking forward to buy K70 Max - it has numpad!

I have had the 60HE. Might have to get the 80HE. Best friggin keyboard made. The fact that you can update firmware and change all the setting with a web site and not even install an app is amazeballs. Long live Wooting!!!!
I am so glad I got the wooting 80he, holy hell it sounds amazing, feels amazing, web config, and supporting a small company. No reason at all under any circumstances to get this when you can get the wooting.

Seems like Corsair finally decided to fully step up their game after their half-baked recent attempts. Loved Corsair as a brand back then but seeing how they were slacking off recently made me lose confidence in them, but this board seems to be a turning point.
That wrist rest logo placement is the most absent minded design I’ve ever seen lol. It would look so much better in one of the corners and wouldn’t interfere when using. So silly.
I got the K100, and you never notice or feel the logo placement on the wrist rest. I don't think I ever had a problem using it. When gaming, you're not really thinking about the wrist rest anyways. I've been using the K100 keyboard since it came out as well
the only thing with hardware that will make you better is it being more comfortable. as long as its 1k polling and has decent response it will serve you just fine.

this keyboard gets many extra points for being TKL instead of 75% and having the knob, but not being compatible with open software like VIA takes away half of them
@@ashleigh. Yeah, I don't really use the knob either, I have a separate volume control I would use. I don't really use scroll lock or pause/break, but I use printscreen, delete, home and end all the time. Insert is used occasionally but not as much. When I was programming regularly I used it all the time though. Luckily I do have a separate numberpad that I can replace all of that with.
Switched to Razer keyboard from Corsair was the biggest mistake ever! Huntsman v2 will randomly press buttons during games. Like, WASD randomly does it's thing for a few seconds.
I really like companies that do the product has they want it and don't change it based on reviewers opinions, because you are one and we are millions. Take influence on improvement from comments maybe.
Just a heads up, snap tap like features are seen as cheats in some games. CS2 won't be the last to ban it, might as well not overpay for an mid quality keyboard when you can get better quality for less, but without questionable features like that.
I would buy the wooting for the amazing support and firmware, you can use rapid trigger and that alone will feel better than any normal keyboard when gaming

i have a strafe mk2 and my pc stopped booting on restart. i had to unplug my keyboard to restart my computer normally. the icue software was doing something that was interfering with the boot. uninstalled it and haven't had problems booting. it was such a nightmare to figure out i will never get another corsair

Unfortunately, the best keyboard brands (keychron, steelseries, ...) are smaller and can't carry layouts for smaller countries like Belgium, so we're always stuck with the big guys like Corsair or Logitech.
My problem is I don't type enough to warrant a new keyboard... I mistype often enough on my rather cheap Dell membrane keyboard but without knowing whether it's the board I'm not going to spend nearly 400 bucks on new keyboards. I always use the same at work and at home so you immediately double the cost.
getting used to new keyboard is fair. But dude...membrane...Mechanical proper keys are so much better. If you using basic ass free membrane then you will find it better. Especially if you also game. Oh and 200 each...well if you buy high end sure.

If you want quiet look into brown or red. Membrane sucks that is all. There are to many brands to list, but go to a store and see if you can find switches of different specs from red to black etc. Avoid blue for noise...Just google this or youtube videos. Its the same thing with ppl who have never tried more than 60 hz, missing out big time.

For people complaining about how this hardware is not cheating, one could consider that having everyone switch to nonstandard hardware that is in most cases way more expensive than the standard would be unfair for those who can’t afford it. Scripting is banned in most every e-sports scene. The keyboard feature is a script. The hardware is cheating because it allows inputs that no human can do. If that isn’t cheating, then having a program click on your opponents head also “isn’t cheating”. People who say that are idiots.
i've had corsair keyboards, the k65 and the k65 mini and they both have faults with the space bar and other keys not registering everytime. So im inclined to never buy another corsair keyboard.

Ive got the K70 MkII from Corsair and its been great, but it kinda sounded like shit. I put a full set of PCMR pudding keycaps on and it made it sound so much nicer, still not great but better. Im no keyboard snob, by a long shot, but this new K70 tkl sounds good, and honestly ive been debating on going down to a tkl from a fullsize. Maybe its time. Ugh, idk, i still wanna build my own keyboard someday
I hate this trend of replacing print screen/scroll lock/pause with media keys, I use the fuck out of those keys. You're not a TKL, as you've taken away more than the numpad, you're 3 keys short godamnit!
I haven't thought about purchasing HE keyboards because I'm not much of an FPS players and wouldn't really benefit from it, the choices of switches are still limited, and they don't sound as good as mechanical.
To be honest keyboards should all work like this: As soon as you press down, it registers as a press. As soon as you lift you finger, it registers as a release. No matter how far it was pressed or released before. That's not cheating, that just proper input management. And how you handle n-key-rollover (if this so the correct term here) should also be the user's choice. Either send all pressed keys simultaneously (n-key rollover) or just the last one (proper gaming peripheral). That's not cheating but again just proper input management. 0-key rollover would then be kinda like only sending the first pressed key. This would be useful when simulating a typewriter, but since it is an option, it should therefor at least be an option for the user.
And it wouldn't even be cheating it you can manage your n-key rollover settings individually from key to key. Because if that isn't allowed, it should also not be allowed to change keybinds in the first place.
n-key rollover just means keys can be registered simultaneously. my old IBM model M for example only has 2-key rollover (any 2 keys can be registered at once) but it really depends on the actual matrix. it can register way more than that but if one of the keys blocks part of the matrix for another it won't register. holding e+r, the f key will not register for example but ctrl+shift+space all do
@zerorig yes, I know. Being able to a handle all keys and sending them simultaneously, is n-key rollover. Sending only the first key and ignoring the rest, is 0-key rollover. But what would be the equivalent, if only the last one is send? -1 key rollover? Besides that though, all 3 should should an option the user can select in the software, from key to key individually.
Ahh yes, we will forever remember the days of blaming the gaming chair; usher in the new era of blaming the keyboard. On a serious note, as much as i want to get a new keyboard cuz lots of them are niiiice, i cant justify replacing my 8,000hz EVGA optical mechanical (that i got on clearance for $50 usd) that's going strong for around 4 years now.

Yeah, I really hate the move to 80% and 75% instead of full TKL. That said I already went with a melgeek 84 pro on the kickstarter.

I mistype often enough on my rather cheap Dell membrane keyboard but without knowing whether it's the board I'm not going to spend nearly 400 bucks on new keyboards. I always use the same at work and at home so you immediately double the cost.
getting used to new keyboard is fair. But dude...membrane...Mechanical proper keys are so much better. If you using basic ass free membrane then you will find it better. Especially if you also game. Oh and 200 each...well if you buy high end sure.

@@RetiredRhetoricalWarhorse Mate its not about good enough. If you havent tried a mechanical keyboard your missing out. Even just laptop keyboards can be C tier or S tier. If you want quiet look into brown or red. Membrane sucks that is all. There are to many brands to list, but go to a store and see if you can find switches of different specs from red to black etc. Avoid blue for noise...Just google this or youtube videos.
Its the same thing with ppl who have never tried more than 60 hz, missing out big time.
I seriously cannot stand loud keyboards. I sold my membrane to get a scissor switch keyboard. I would love a recommendation of a quiet/silent keyboard that is pretty decent/good.

For people complaining about how this hardware is not cheating, one could consider that having everyone switch to nonstandard hardware that is in most cases way more expensive than the standard would be unfair for those who can’t afford it. They’re banned because they do offer a substantial advantage in the competitive scene. Feel free to correct me if I got something wrong… or the whole thing wrong 👀

Scripting is banned in most every e-sports scene. The keyboard feature is a script. The hardware is cheating because it allows inputs that no human can do. If that isn’t cheating, then having a program click on your opponents head also “isn’t cheating”. People who say that are idiots.

i've had corsair keyboards, the k65 and the k65 mini and they both have faults with the space bar and other keys not registering everytime. So im inclined to never buy another corsair keyboard.
About 10:45 when Plouffe says going from 1000 Hz to 8000 Hz is "way faster! One hundred per cent!" my brain suddenly went "Akshullyyyy it's 800% faster...."

Ive got the K70 MkII from Corsair and its been great, but it kinda sounded like shit. I put a full set of PCMR pudding keycaps on and it made it sound so much nicer, still not great but better. Im no keyboard snob, by a long shot, but this new K70 tkl sounds good, and honestly ive been debating on going down to a tkl from a fullsize. Maybe its time. Ugh, idk, i still wanna build my own keyboard someday

I hate this trend of replacing print screen/scroll lock/pause with media keys, I use the fuck out of those keys. You're not a TKL, as you've taken away more than the numpad, you're 3 keys short godamnit!
So far Icue is the easiest to use software ive found. Only thing I dont like about it is that is a closed environment

I haven't thought about purchasing HE keyboards because I'm not much of an FPS players and wouldn't really benefit from it, the choices of switches are still limited, and they don't sound as good as mechanical.
To be honest keyboards should all work like this: As soon as you press down, it registers as a press. As soon as you lift you finger, it registers as a release. No matter how far it was pressed or released before.
That's not cheating, that just proper input management.
And how you handle n-key-rollover (if this so the correct term here) should also be the user's choice.
Either send all pressed keys simultaneously (n-key rollover) or just the last one (proper gaming peripheral).

0-key rollover would then be kinda like only sending the first pressed key. This would be useful when simulating a typewriter, but since it is an option, it should therefor at least be an option for the user.
And it wouldn't even be cheating it you can manage your n-key rollover settings individually from key to key. Because if that isn't allowed, it should also not be allowed to change keybinds in the first place.
n-key rollover just means keys can be registered simultaneously.
my old IBM model M for example only has 2-key rollover (any 2 keys can be registered at once) but it really depends on the actual matrix.
it can register way more than that but if one of the keys blocks part of the matrix for another it won't register. holding e+r, the f key will not register for example but ctrl+shift+space all do
@zerorig yes, I know. Being able to a handle all keys and sending them simultaneously, is n-key rollover.
Sending only the first key and ignoring the rest, is 0-key rollover.
But what would be the equivalent, if only the last one is send? -1 key rollover?
Besides that though, all 3 should should an option the user can select in the software, from key to key individually.
This won't make your scores magically higher, so just get if you want to brag about hardware instead of wins.

Ahh yes, we will forever remember the days of blaming the gaming chair; usher in the new era of blaming the keyboard. On a serious note, as much as i want to get a new keyboard cuz lots of them are niiiice, i cant justify replacing my 8,000hz EVGA optical mechanical (that i got on clearance for $50 usd) that's going strong for around 4 years now.
What even is the point of this at that price point? Ok if it was max 100$, but at this price you better off adding 20$ for a real wooting instead.
