Tbh I quite like FM synthesis at times. Late 1980s and early 1990s Williams pinball machines had some really excellent FM synthesis music on them - Rollergames, Swords of Fury, Black Knight 2000, even slightly later ones like Getaway and Addams Family. The combination of crunchy FM synth and vox samples really popped. They used the Yamaha OPM rather than the OPL2 though.
I went back to the track at the beginning and I really think you need to fix that keyboard, I love FMSynth, though maybe my ears are full of 80s fluff. I have composed quite a few songs on my channel using the SBPro. You can find those in my "Just the Music" vids. I think the appreciation of these Synth sounds is unbelievably subjective. Some people think any synth sounds like crap. Where I totally agree with you is that Prophet 5, it sounds great, I'd love to hear what you've done with that. Hoping you get that working 100 percent. Assuming you get the VZ-1 working again ( and what's this "Zee" business) I think you need to sleep on it before you throw it in the bin. Some of those sounds were pretty cool.
yes!!!!!!!!!! he's back!
