I think I know exactly what app you are talking about. It's called Beauty Keeper. It's so great and will even send you an alert on your phone when something expires. It even lets you add notes to each product listing, so I always will put what shade (if applicable) and my thoughts on the product so I know if I want to repurchase it.
There’s also one called Glow In Me that’s super great. And the creators are pretty active on their Instagram and actually take suggestions to make the app better. Highly reccomend!

I made a reminders app list. So if I open something that has a 1 year life after opening I’ll set the reminder’s date for 1 year. Or for sunscreen I’ll enter it’s expiration date

Just a tip for the Nars pump you are keeping. Don't try and clean it, instead wipe off the outside of the but then pump through some of the product so it gets pushed out. The preservative in the foundation will keep the pump "clean"
You don't want to risk getting water in the pump because that will introduce the potential for bacteria growth.

I love your declutter videos! I would suggest buying the LA Girl white mixing pigment so that you can lighten your foundation shades if they are too deep for you. It has been such a game changer in my routine. I also have the blue mixing pigment to neutralize when the shades are too warm for me.

I feel you on having no concept of time! I usually just search for the product name in my emails to see when I bought it, since I buy most things online and never delete anything.

Love your declutter videos - they are a great example for other influencers who are overloaded with products they never use. That said, I think makeup has a longer shelf life than people think (if you look up FDA guidance) - I would keep any product I use and love, unless it has obviously turned..
Totally agree, the expiry dates are just a guide, if the product looks, smells and performs ok you can definitely keep it ❤️

100%! If it still smells normal, looks /feels normal I'll keep using it. Once the smell changes I think it's time. I have a harder time with skincare though for some reason. I've gotten better since I stopped the whole Instagram Influencer thing and stopped accepting PR but I would forget about something for a few months and then be like eww and toss it haha but I think it was because I had so much and wasn't paying for it... you know.. lol
Use a color-coordinated paint pen system that corresponds to months of the year you opened it on. Always a fun reason to whip those paint pens out in your fun colors.
Or you could just use a different color each year and write the number of the month on it. 😉

I spent hours yesterday weeding out makeup. It’s been ridiculous for a loooong time - gotta stop being influenced by influencers. 🤣 I don’t wear makeup very often anymore so there’s no reason to have 15 foundations - I now have three. 👍🏼 (not to mention blush and eyeshadows 😳)
Write the date on the bottle with a Sharpie to know when you opened something.
I typically do this but have found the sharpie still rubs off when it’s crunch time to toss it. Then I have to remember when/where I bought said product 😅
I use little round stickers I found in Dollar Tree and place the date on all makeup and skin care. Products work more effectively and I have limited waste. I no longer keep backups and have been on a no buy since 9-2018.

Beauty Keeper not a only tracks the date you purchase and expiration date- but also tracks the date you open something and recommend shelf life because this is often ignored. Once you open a product the shelf life is usually up before a products expiration date.
I love that the app tracks everything- I use it to see what is expiring each month and decide if I want to repurchase or try something new. It's helped me be more mindful with my collection

I just like tube packaging lately. It’s just sleeker and less bulky easier to store and travel with 😉! I wish more foundations would go with tube packaging! Also never thought I would see the day when Jessica doesn’t have a Missha bb cream in her collection 😂

This was so satisfying. It would be really interesting to hear your thoughts in a few weeks on how you feel about your more streamlined collection - do you see your make up differently when it’s more curated? Do you end up missing the products that you liked that were expired, and whether you do end up replacing them.

I love declutter videos but *I myself* don’t toss something by the expiration date 🙈 if it doesn’t smell/look different, it’s performing the same, it’s not giving me any reactions I’m gonna keep it to use it up. The only exception to this is mascara, but I use one up within the expire window.

Always love your declutters Jessica. 🥰 If you have the space I would suggest spreading the foundations and primers in their drawers. Personally if I I have something in my sight I will use it. In these little bins I might always reuse the ones on top.

You can get your shade of the L’Oréal serum foundation on their web site. Also possibly Walmart. Mine has it in store. I like golden vanilla and can only find that shade there too 🤷🏻♀️ 😊

Jessica, i always put a sticker on my cream/ liquid products when i've opened them 😉. I have currently a Missha BB Cream Cover FX ( is the one with red cap ) in my project pan , probably 5 or 6 uses left and is sooooo beautiful on my skin , i love it and i will definitely repurchase it! And that L'Oréal Age Perfect BB Cream was my best discovery for 2022 , i've already used up one ! I always enjoy your declutter videos , because you cut everything that you don't like or is expired ! 🤗🤗
The timing of this video was perfect. I'm needing to get a new foundation and I totally trust your recommendations. If it's good enough for you to keep that long, through so many declutters and would repurchase again, I've added it to my list to consider.
I also think it's great that you've specifically stated that if it wasn't your job, having that many products isn't necessary. So many young people watch these videos and think that's the normal and/or necessary. Thank you for pointing that out.
Finally, just grab a fine tip sharpie in your favorite color and just write the month and year on the bottom of product when you open it. Keep the sharpie with your makeup and you'll never wonder when you've opened something again.

I love the CT beautiful skin foundation (I'm on my second tube now, sh: 2 neutral). Apply with my hands tapping in, and sometimes finish with a sponge. Looks so natural irl but its light coverage for sure. Only down side is that it doesn't last more than 6+ hours on my oily combo skin (still looks okay but a bit faded, especially during summer). 🌸
I have really been loving that new essence foundation....I think they are really gonna do good on that product!!!

Last weekend I decluttered my lipsticks and it was hard for me to throw some away. But they we’re so old. 🙈
The Shesheido radiant Synchro Skin is my absolute HOLY GRAIL foundation‼️‼️‼️I have yet to try ANYTHING that can stand up to this foundation and I’ve tried so many over the years!!! I am 60 years old in April!!! I do mix it with a bit of the L’Oréal serum foundation in the summer to darken it just a bit when I’m more tanned. I get constant compliments whenever I use it👍🏼❤️❣️ and my age is definitely starting to show! Love, love, LOVE❣️❣️❣️I use the Revlon photo finish primer in the white plastic bottle with the pink cap on my face beforehand, just where my pores are a bit large. I use the Lancôme Tente Idole concealer under my eyes and the LYS powder to set my under eyes. I use the Dior Powder no Powder as my finishing powder. For my eyeshadow, I love using the Persona Identity 1 palette. Thrive lash extensions mascara. Wet and Wild Semma brown eyeliner. Maybelline lifter glosses!!! Ta da!!!😂! TMI?Blushes and bronzers vary.

So affirming to hear that you needed to declutter after thinking about how long you’ve had certain products. I recently reorganized my makeup and found myself thinking, “I had this pre-COVID.” Then I realized that meant some of my products were at least 3 years old… definitely time to toss ‘em.
I firmly believe that covid ruined everyone’s sense of time entirely and it will take us years to get it back. I was thinking about something that happened pre-covid the other day and it literally took me fifteen minutes to realize it was not “just last year.” I moved across the country during that time, so it should be very easy to use that as a timeframe, but I CANNOT accept that multiple years have passed since quarantine.

Lol I also have no concept of time, and covid really messed with it - to me, it feels simultaneously like no time has passed, and also like many many years have passed, and I've felt this way basically since halfway through 2020. Like we're just in a black hole of time.
I do try to remember that pre-covid times means 3 years, but it's just strange.
I also used the "this was here pre-covid." Thats the only way i was able to get rid of some makeup.
The Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin is hands down the best foundation I’ve tried this past year!!!! It’s gorgeous and flawless. I apply with a beauty blender. I have gfs purchasing it now bc it’s become such a HG for me. Try a shade that works for you Jessie. It’s beautiful ❤❤❤

Hey Jess! Thank you for turning me onto the Missha BB Cream #23. That's my favorite foundation ever! I just bought the NYX Born to Glow and wore it once. Broke me out all around my nose and chin, so we didn't get along. You must try the CT cream eyeshadow in Rose Gold. I think you'd love it and it's what the Pillow Talk one should have been. It's a shimmery, peachy one & done shadow. Thanks again for all your great recommendations! 😍

Jessica, I just did the same. Had a box of powdered foundation & other stuff, realized it’s been well over a year since I touched these. Figured , ewwwwww, shouldn’t use them at this point anyway. Felt good to clear out, and goes hand in hand with a desire to work with what I have this year and use products up. It is so easy to get sucked in and buy yet another lip gloss, or another powder, but I am really going to try to tell myself no new purchases until something is gone. I had the same feeling with the CT foundation; it just sat on my skin and wouldn’t sink in. Returned it and bought the new Nars foundation and love it!

You should try the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen. It is unbelievably good. I’ve always had issues with sin screens and white cast, breaking me out and this one looks beautiful on the skin, even works well as a primer, you can find it in Amazon. This line of Korean products is amazingly good an affordable. I’m on my second tube
I love that Charlotte foundation! It’s become one of my favorites. They sent it by accident instead of my lipstick lol. I couldn’t find a purito shade that matched me. I just decluttered my makeup last night. I like the missha too based on your recommend haha.

The Missha BB cream has been the best everyday base product I've ever tried for years now. And I have combination skin. Nothing looks as skin-like and wears so nicely throughout the day!

I wear warm ivory , I think it would be close to your color. I also pair it with the CoverGirl priming glow mist, I spray this on before and after makeup. I'm 53 with dry skin and this is my combo! I get so many compliments when I wear this. I'd love to see you try it!!
