As a bilingual person myself, I CANNOT express my gratitude enough to my parents for forcing me to learn a second language when I was younger because it has been sooooo beneficial in so many different areas for me. I'm hoping to be trilingual in the future!
I speak 5 languages (ok, one just basically😂) and I couldn’t agree more! It makes such a huge different in how you see the world, live, travel, how many more advantages you have professionally, etc. I am also so thankful for the efforts that my parents made when I was young to make sure that I learned English, and then other languages. I often wonder how my life would have been without that and I am pretty sure, that if every single person in the world spoke fluently two or more languages and traveled, there would be less conflicts and wars in this planet ❤ Hate usually comes from lack of understanding of others’ culture and traditions, and this greatly due to lack of proper communication 😢 Peace to all, we all need to pray (in any religious believe) for humans finally understanding each other 😊
Im so happy you signed up for a Bible study!! 😊 when you mentioned wondering what ages would be there, it reminded me of something that i experienced. After i graduated college, i moved cross country for a full time job with a company i had already interned with. During the internship i had tried out a church, went once or twice. I liked it, but since i was only out there for a summer, most weekends i was busy and couldnt make it on sundays. Once i moved there full time, i started going more frequently. My first sunday there, they announced an adult Bible study would be starting that Wednesday. Being new to town and recently single, i thought, "ohh! Maybe i can meet some friends and maybe a guy my age!" So i signed up, and showed up Wednesday night. Everyone there was more than double ny age!! But you know what, i built some amazing friendships and mentorships with those people, one of them being basically like my stand in mother out there. In 2018, we went on a mission trip to Mexico together. I have since moved away, and have lost touch with some of those women, but i will forever cherish those friendships and relationships and they helped form me into the woman i am today! So, all this to say, that if you show up to your first study and its not what you expect, dont give up on it! You dont know what God has in store for you with this group. He has a reason for all the timing lining up perfectly!

Jessica, I have signed up for several Bible studies over the years...some I knew many people, others I knew no one. I can tell you that some of the best friendships I have made have been in joining those. I have found mentors, and also those I could help out. Some were better than others, but in each one I grew in my faith and I have never been sorry I did one. Just remember that "awkward" part of not knowing where to go, who will be there, etc., goes away after the first one :-) Good luck to you!

The scariest thing about when I went to Jordan was 100% the language barrier. I realized after being there the smiles, facial expressions, etc are all the same as anywhere else. I’m so glad to know that you are back home, I was starting freaking out because of the uncertainty of the situation there. A part of my family was receiving rockets on Tel Aviv just two or three days ago. I know how tiny is the country and Egypt is so close. I want to be a source of encouragement for you for signing up for that Bible study. I know exactly what you mean by being nervous. I am a millennial mom with two little girls just like you and was thinking the exact same thoughts. I signed up for a women’s study, and was super nervous. Let me tell you that now I do not hesitate to sign up for one of those each time one is offered. I realized that while some people do know each other, a lot of people are in the exact same boat. You get to know other people and hear their stories share your own stories fellowship together it’s so great. I was a little hesitant about age groups as well, but it ended up not being a big deal at all. There were some ladies my same age, and some my mom’s age. But you learn so much from the women who have been there before they provide so much wisdom and insight and become almost mother like mentors that are a refreshing familiar face come Sunday morning. At the end of the day you will glean some thing from the Bible study itself to. They’re never not worth it. You should be proud of yourself, it’s gonna be a great experience. First day is a little awkward but it’s like cute awkward you know?

I’m right there with you with the language barrier. I went to a very small area of Italy where really nobody spoke English, and it was very overwhelming. It was the first place I’d been where I didn’t understand the language at all (I speak enough Spanish to feel comfortable with that language). It is overwhelming, and it makes me really feel for people who visit the US and don’t speak English bc it’s scary!

One time, years ago, I was standing in the locker room of my high school. It was new to the school and wanted to connect with people and stay busy. The volleyball season was over. It was time for winter sports. I'm not good at basketball or swimming. That left cheerleading. I thought to myself, "if I cheer, then I can say that's something I did". (The quintessential activity of cheerleading, if you will.) It was then that I decided to gain as many experiences in life as possible. From that moment on, I approach every decision with a "why not" attitude. Sometimes there is a good reason "why not" but most of the time, there isn't. That has gotten me out of my comfort zone so many times, and led to having life experiences beyond my years and often times beyond my means. I've been able to go see the world, add really unique things to my resume, and meeting so many fascinating people! I highly recommend to everyone to take on a "why not" approach any time an opportunity presents. Unless there's a valid reason not to, it will lead you to wonderful places in life! (I hope that makes sense. I'm writing before getting out of bed to take the early shift of volunteering at a conference today.... we shall see what saying yes to this opportunity will bring!)

There are so many awesome destinations in the world, but there is something magical about Egypt. And you will not find a more friendly and welcoming people. Can.not.wait for the vlogs!

Clear bag is not required in the US anymore, but it is in a lot of other countries. So when traveling international I would highly recommend to keep liquids in a quart size clear one.

I’m proud of you for stepping out of your comfort zone and signing up for the Bible study and am interested in hearing how it goes. I’ve lead women’s small group Bible studies for years. The first couple weeks tend to be a little nerve wracking for most. I’ve made some of my strongest friendships in bible studies. Five weeks is a good length when you’re just getting started. Once you get used to it, I encourage you to try a longer study. That’s where the beauty really is.
I lead a Bible study with the women, young and old, in my extended family. We share so much more than we ever have, encourage each other, and especially, learn what God has to say. It is a blessing like no other. The walk with God is precious. I’ll be praying for you.
I watch you before bed on my iPad. My fav way to close my day. I’m hanging in there. My husband had a major heart attack…the widow maker. And it took me a couple hours to talk him into going to ER. I could have lost him. I have a tear in my wrist. Work is stressful…and this war just makes me want to cry. I’m so glad you and Tyler made it home safely. I’m so glad to know that you are back home, I was starting freaking out because of the uncertainty of the situation there. A part of my family was receiving rockets on Tel Aviv just two or three days ago. I know how tiny is the country and Egypt is so close. I am not going to explain the geopolitical situation here, it’s not the place for that, but I think that it’s very good that you are back home. I’m sure that Egypt must be gorgeous though…

I want to be a source of encouragement for you for signing up for that Bible study. I know exactly what you mean by being nervous. I am a millennial mom with two little girls just like you and was thinking the exact same thoughts. I signed up for a women’s study, and was super nervous. Let me tell you that now I do not hesitate to sign up for one of those each time one is offered. I realized that while some people do know each other, a lot of people are in the exact same boat. You get to know other people and hear their stories share your own stories fellowship together it’s so great. I was a little hesitant about age groups as well, but it ended up not being a big deal at all. There were some ladies my same age, and some my mom’s age. But you learn so much from the women who have been there before they provide so much wisdom and insight and become almost mother like mentors that are a refreshing familiar face come Sunday morning. At the end of the day you will glean some thing from the Bible study itself to. They’re never not worth it. You should be proud of yourself, it’s gonna be a great experience. First day is a little awkward but it’s like cute awkward you know?

I’m right there with you with the language barrier. I went to a very small area of Italy where really nobody spoke English, and it was very overwhelming. It was the first place I’d been where I didn’t understand the language at all (I speak enough Spanish to feel comfortable with that language). It is overwhelming, and it makes me really feel for people who visit the US and don’t speak English bc it’s scary!

Cinderella is my favorite of the live action Disney movies. I do also appreciate how it was a different enough retelling of the same story.
One time, years ago, I was standing in the locker room of my high school. It was new to the school and wanted to connect with people and stay busy. The volleyball season was over. It was time for winter sports. I'm not good at basketball or swimming. That left cheerleading. I thought to myself, "if I cheer, then I can say that's something I did". (The quintessential activity of cheerleading, if you will.) It was then that I decided to gain as many experiences in life as possible. From that moment on, I approach every decision with a "why not" attitude. Sometimes there is a good reason "why not" but most of the time, there isn't. That has gotten me out of my comfort zone so many times, and led to having life experiences beyond my years and often times beyond my means. I've been able to go see the world, add really unique things to my resume, and meeting so many fascinating people!
I highly recommend to everyone to take on a "why not" approach any time an opportunity presents. Unless there's a valid reason not to, it will lead you to wonderful places in life!
(I hope that makes sense. I'm writing before getting out of bed to take the early shift of volunteering at a conference today.... we shall see what saying yes to this opportunity will bring!)
I was so excited to hear that there will be Egypt vlogs! We visited Egypt in 2007 and it really is such a special place. There are so many awesome destinations in the world, but there is something magical about Egypt. And you will not find a more friendly and welcoming people. Can.not.wait for the vlogs!

My 8 week old is napping in her bassinet. I did a quick workout and am now relaxing & watching! I have to say my 2.5 year old son loves books like Gigi! Our playroom always has books everywhere. Good problem to have! And he LOVES if you give a mouse a cookie!

cinderella is absolutely my favorite live action disney movie. i think they did a phenomenal job with it. it's a perfect movie, and i wouldn't change a thing! but the little mermaid was also incredible!! it made me love prince eric when i've always thought he was kinda boring 😂

Clear bag is not required in the US anymore, but it is in a lot of other countries. So when traveling international I would highly recommend to keep liquids in a quart size clear one.

I’m proud of you for stepping out of your comfort zone and signing up for the Bible study and am interested in hearing how it goes. I’ve lead women’s small group Bible studies for years. The first couple weeks tend to be a little nerve wracking for most. I’ve made some of my strongest friendships in bible studies. Five weeks is a good length when you’re just getting started. Once you get used to it, I encourage you to try a longer study. That’s where the beauty really is.
I lead a Bible study with the women, young and old, in my extended family. We share so much more than we ever have, encourage each other, and especially, learn what God has to say. It is a blessing like no other. The walk with God is precious. I’ll be praying for you.

I watch you before bed on my iPad. My fav way to close my day. I’m hanging in there. My husband had a major heart attack…the widow maker. And it took me a couple hours to talk him into going to ER.
