The ONLY upside to being in Australia and having to wait a few more weeks for armada waves is watching Crabboks videos that explain and break down all the new ships.
Thank you for doing these videos. I have learned so much and get the game played a lot more as a result. My favorite ship right now is the interdictor.
Thank you so much Crabbok, you have really helped guide what kind of ships I have gotten in armada. I really am a big fan of a Kuat Star Destroyer loaded up with Thrawn and the Chimera. Maybe that can be a list idea
I can tell you that my favorite ship currently available in Armada is the SSD. But, I haven't played Armada. As a matter of fact I only just got into Legion. But I will probably pick up Armada as a side game once Venators and other Republic boats come to bear. Not to mention, how awesome it will be to fight a Lucrehulk on the tabletop.
Thank you so much Crabbok, you are so helpfull for all of us. This video really help me to learn more about armada. Other then that i just wanted to ask where do i see who's won the give away. Love your channel, more dakka for the Empire.
My favorite ship in armada? Interdictor. So many tricks up it's sleeve. So flexible with it's positioning, attacking, commands. Can be a tank or a support or give it some extra dice, or give it carrier abilities... Plus moving obstacles around is like one of the best and most fun things ever. can drastically change the game when used well.
one general note you discounted regarding the orbital bombardment's splash damage yes:: easy to avoid by other player however:: forcing the player to adopt a specific strategy means you can build out the rest of the build to exploit forced strategies so yeah, bad to build a fleet solely around this super weapon's splash damage, but relying on the enemy to avoid it and play into your hands is the real strength (stupid long extreme range aside)
I have to say right now the Arquitens is probably my favorite ship but its hard to not go for the ISD. I also have to say I am having fun running a Raider in my lists with Corvus and Iden, that combo makes the Raider so fun to play and much more viable in lists.
Hey Crabbok. Thanks as ever for a great instructional vid. Was scratching my head on this very topic so perfect timing. Also love the bloopers at the end 😜
I have been tinkering with a regular ISD I. With all the new cards, I've really come up with some cool combinations. The ISD is still my second favorite after SSD. Long live the Empire!
This video reminded me how much I'm looking forward to putting an Onager on the table next week. As far as my favorite ship in Armada, the announcement of the Chimaera expansion convinced me to get into the game. I'll play anything representing that sweet, sweet ISD artwork.
Ignition sounds really cool, I can't wait to see how the starhawk fairs in our little games, it's been delayed in Britian 😔. Nebulon b frigate is my favourite, idk why probably since played roger squadron and changing into an A wing on the second level I think Haha.
Great informative video. Ignition Attacks work very differently than how I expected the Onager to work, but I think FFG made the right choice for game balance. Also, both the Onager and Starhawk are sold out at all of board game shops in my area. Presumably FFG will have restocks ready to ship soon - for those of interested in buying multiples. Also, did anyone else get the Imperial Light Cruiser (Arquitens) restocks? I picked up a few, and they’re sold old again.
Thanks for the explanation. I wonder if they will include the Separatist ship Malevolence in the clone wars content. That seems like an ideal candidate for using the ignition mechanic.
I'm huge fan of both the arq and vic Alot of people gave up on the vic until harrow but I've lived it from day one and have found ways to boost it to have better guns than the isd2 and maybe even the a starhawk
This boils down to how it's worded. Sometimes damage will say "Defending hull zone", other times it'll say "Defender". When it's Defender, they get to choose.
In all honestly, I'm a big fan of the victory-class, mostly because of the crimson command and how cool the idea of an orbital-bombard-and-run unit. Also I think better looking than the ISD
My personal favorite ship....has got to be the mc75. I always try to make it work as the point in the spear(followed by a assualt frigate and gr75s) in my ackbar fleet. Fun to fly, but when I get that starhawk we will see.
Thanks for the explanation, I was wondering about when the target ship is between the onager and the ignition token...wasn’t totally clear between line of sight to target hull zone vs distance from the token. Ver clear now, thanks. Favorite ship is the MC75 !
I have a new phrase for my Onager "Radical Redical Crits"! I have to say my favorite is the Interdictor, I love to use its abilities to frustrate my opponent's moves.
I'm guessing the potential for multiple ignition attacks per ship might be foreshadowing the possibility of the Malevolence coming out at some point in the future when we get clone wars era armada.
The mc80 (liberty) Endeavor! General Dodo commander cuz I just put a nav crew for the maneuverability, gunner team of course some other bells and whistles, and it is just nasty. My kiddo loves his chimaera, I needed something to contend and haven’t even looked at other ships since.. I don’t even want a home one anymore, and Ackbar the shit and all, but now I just want more corvettes to support this monster. No wonder the empire blasted it first in RotJ!!
My favorite ship is the ISD. Sorry to say that as I play my Onager I find that the Ignition attack is very easily dodged and almost never comes into play. Perhaps if the arc was wider maybe. But the area of effect is so small that a Navigation token or dial is enough to slip right past it. It was cool idea but needed more play testing. Unless your opponent wants to be hit you are never hitting anything with it.
Favourite Ship I love: Hrm... Rebels side I like the MC80 (Home One) , Imperials I like the Chimera , though the Onager and te Nadiri might rapidly take up those roles when they arrive. (COME ONNNNNN AMAZZZZZZZOOOON)
You have to use the ignition weapon 1st before you make your 2nd attack from another hull zone, but could you just give up on the ignition attack altogether after you placed the token so you would have the freedom to attack just from other 2 regular hull zones?
I doubt the rebels get it. But the other use is likely the mulificent from the cis in clone wars. It's a side arc superweapon. We know clone wars is coming at the end of this year allegedly. So in the coming years I can absolutely see that ship coming with clone wars.
I think you have a mistake in your video. Ignition [Long] means the token can only be placed within long range. Not in medium range. (This is the same as with Krennic. He can also only reroll on medium to long range. Should the defender however be at close range Krennic does not allow you to reroll) So if you have the Orbital Bombardment Particle Cannons equipped you can place ignition token either within long range (from the end of medium range to the end of long range) or within close range, not however within medium range.
I don’t know, that makes no sense to me that your super cannon can hit something far away or at close range but whiff in the middle. It makes more sense how crabbok explained it.
@Puzzu It may at first sound more intuitive but according to the rules it is still wrong. Krennic is perfect precedent for this. With Orbital Bombardment Particle Cannons you cannot put the ignition token at medium range.
One of the dot points for the ignition rules says: 'At the beginning of a ship's Attack step, if its targeting token is in play, that ship must perform an ignition attack against a ship in the special firing arc that its targeting token is within as its first attack this activation, if able.' I note that it doesn't specify it must attack an enemy ship, so does that mean if the only ship in the arc is a friendly ship it must attack the friendly? Or does the 'if able' imply that it excludes friendlies? Or does the 'if able' only refer to no ships at all in the arc?
You can’t attack your own ships according to the last bullet point under Attack section in the rules reference: Ships and squadrons cannot attack friendly ships and squadrons.
I don't think you are allowed to attack friendly ships unless otherwise specified. If the only ship in ignition arc is friendly, the "if able" part does come into play, and you skip your ignition attack.
What happens if an enemy ship overlaps the Ignition token? Does the Onager get to choose any of the overlapping ship's hull zones when making its Special Battery attack?
I love good ole ISD. Iconic, tanky, and huge.
The Malevolence is the only ship I can think of that would have 2 Ignition arcs at base (giant ion cannon on each side, don'tcha know).
The venator can be upgraded with a close range ignition
@@Mutzlandalso applies to victory
Thrawn’s ISD the Chimaera is my favorite ship in Star Wars Armada. Like a regular ISD but an awesome paint job on both top and bottom!
The ONLY upside to being in Australia and having to wait a few more weeks for armada waves is watching Crabboks videos that explain and break down all the new ships.
Thank you for doing these videos. I have learned so much and get the game played a lot more as a result. My favorite ship right now is the interdictor.
Interdictor has some mean synergy with the onager. Use grav wells to herd enemy ships to the onagers suoerweapon
I really like the gladiator. The ability to move first and then shoot is clutch.
Thank you so much Crabbok, you have really helped guide what kind of ships I have gotten in armada. I really am a big fan of a Kuat Star Destroyer loaded up with Thrawn and the Chimera. Maybe that can be a list idea
MC-80 Liberty is my favorite! So cool and so powerful
So excited to start using ignition attacks! Thanks for the explanation Crabbok!
thanks for the explanation! just bought my Venator and was a bit confused on how it worked :)
I can tell you that my favorite ship currently available in Armada is the SSD. But, I haven't played Armada. As a matter of fact I only just got into Legion. But I will probably pick up Armada as a side game once Venators and other Republic boats come to bear.

Other then that i just wanted to ask where do i see who's won the give away.
Love your channel, more dakka for the Empire.
Just opened up my Onager. Very helpful video!
The Interdictor is my favorite! I love its model design.
one general note you discounted regarding the orbital bombardment's splash damage
yes:: easy to avoid by other player
however:: forcing the player to adopt a specific strategy means you can build out the rest of the build to exploit forced strategies
so yeah, bad to build a fleet solely around this super weapon's splash damage, but relying on the enemy to avoid it and play into your hands is the real strength (stupid long extreme range aside)
The SSD is hands down my favorite ship. I will forever be including it in my list I dont care how chunky it is lol!
I really enjoy my Tanky MC80 with it's swarms of B-wings around it! Definitely still my favorite ship and squadrons!
Thanks for the run-down of the Onager. My favorite ship in Armada is the Assault Frigate.
The imperial light cruiser. I just love it!!!
Thanks for this. Its a good primer for the use of the ignition attack.
So I found a co-worker who likes star wars. We're going to start playing Armada during lunch! Super pumped!
Nice explanation, thank you. I love the super star destroyer.
The ships I love:
Playability in Armada: Arq's
Just in general: ISD
I have been tinkering with a regular ISD I. With all the new cards, I've really come up with some cool combinations. The ISD is still my second favorite after SSD. Long live the Empire!
I love the Super Star Destroyer--just feels like the Emperor is aboard every time it takes the table.
Totally agree!
This video reminded me how much I'm looking forward to putting an Onager on the table next week. As far as my favorite ship in Armada, the announcement of the Chimaera expansion convinced me to get into the game. I'll play anything representing that sweet, sweet ISD artwork.
Got both wave 8 shipped today, excited to see in action!
Great explanation. So many options with this new attack.
VSD has been pulling its weight for me so far, but the gladiator is really pulling my attention.
Imperial Light Carrier!! Thanks for the videos your doing awesome stuff!
This will change up my game like crazy. Probably my favorite ship is Imperial Star Destroyer!
Ignition sounds really cool, I can't wait to see how the starhawk fairs in our little games, it's been delayed in Britian 😔.
Nebulon b frigate is my favourite, idk why probably since played roger squadron and changing into an A wing on the second level I think Haha.

Thanks for the explanation. I wonder if they will include the Separatist ship Malevolence in the clone wars content. That seems like an ideal candidate for using the ignition mechanic.
I love playing armada and this wave just gave some spice!
Great explanation of ability. After your last Batrep, I had a few questions
Great video! My favourite ship has got to be the SSD!
SSD is my favorite ship I think in Armada...will be using it in my upcoming CC
Love it. Getting mine this month. My favorite ship so far is the Interdictor.
Thank you for explaining this!
I'm huge fan of both the arq and vic
Alot of people gave up on the vic until harrow but I've lived it from day one and have found ways to boost it to have better guns than the isd2 and maybe even the a starhawk
My favourite ship will probably always be the Chimaera, simple yet so beautiful and intimidating!
Thanks for the explanation. Helps to clarify this new rule.
Favorite ship is a toss up between the awe inspiring Executor, and the tactical necessity of the Interdictor
Dude this video really helped you just got another sub! Tysm!
_"When it says 'Damage' you can choose where you want it to go"_
I thought you would always have to take it on the attacked hull zone. Cool!
This boils down to how it's worded. Sometimes damage will say "Defending hull zone", other times it'll say "Defender". When it's Defender, they get to choose.
Crabbok so does that mean the the crit still counts as 1 hit as well as the modification makes it take a additional damage?
In all honestly, I'm a big fan of the victory-class, mostly because of the crimson command and how cool the idea of an orbital-bombard-and-run unit. Also I think better looking than the ISD
Favorite Armada ship: Victory Star Destroyer! I'm happy with my fleet of three and use at least one in every game.
i got 3 too
I love the Vic also, I almost never play a game without it, it is the best ship because it can do everything really well
Really looking forward to playing with the Onager and Starhawk.
My personal favorite ship....has got to be the mc75. I always try to make it work as the point in the spear(followed by a assualt frigate and gr75s) in my ackbar fleet. Fun to fly, but when I get that starhawk we will see.
Starhawk is amazing! What a great companion release to the Onager
I really like the interfictor since it is a really good support ship that can't die.
This reminds me of the death star laser MOTF used in their Battle of Scariff BatRep.
Thanks for the explanation, I was wondering about when the target ship is between the onager and the ignition token...wasn’t totally clear between line of sight to target hull zone vs distance from the token. Ver clear now, thanks. Favorite ship is the MC75 !
Very informative, thanks! How about SSD vs. Bellator?
Do you think I should get an onager or Starhawk? I would love to get both but I would like to save money for a Disney world trip
I have a new phrase for my Onager "Radical Redical Crits"! I have to say my favorite is the Interdictor, I love to use its abilities to frustrate my opponent's moves.
This is a great mechanic! Looking forward to more
I haven’t used my Onager yet, but so far it looks like a good new mechanic without being overpowering our game breaking
I love those MC 30s!
This is extremely helpful! I can’t wait to get this ship!
Good to know, thanks for the information
Thanks for this, the onager rule book was a little confusing on ignition.
I'm guessing the potential for multiple ignition attacks per ship might be foreshadowing the possibility of the Malevolence coming out at some point in the future when we get clone wars era armada.
Of all my ships so far: The MC 80 Home one variant.
I love the MC-75. Has kind of a big daddy look of the Nebulon.
Hey you got one of our patches! Nice!
I know it’s not the most powerful ship but mine is the tantive IV, when it first appears in the movie it the most amazing thing I ever saw

If you wish to attack from 2 other hull zones, you can opt to NOT place an ignition token on your previous turn. That's the only way around it.
I love the Chimaera expansion. An ISD and some squadrons too...sign me up
Thanks for all those clarifications! Favorite ship has to be the ISD. There is no more iconic ship in star wars.
Imperial Star Destroyer will always be my favorite.
If I had to choose one to call my favorite, it would be the Arquitens light cruiser.
Ignition is an interesting mechanic. Would love to see how it develops in future and how Rebel ships might get to use it
I doubt the rebels get it. But the other use is likely the mulificent from the cis in clone wars. It's a side arc superweapon. We know clone wars is coming at the end of this year allegedly. So in the coming years I can absolutely see that ship coming with clone wars.
My favorite ship as been the Star hawk since the after maybe comic
After math*

Doesn't really matter though med range is pretty easy compensated for.
Its like making me choose a child, lol. Arquitens and ISD Cymoon have to be my favorites, though the Onager is worming its way into my heart quickly.
My favorite ship is still SSD, with ISD second and Onager a close third!
i get all teary when i think about the nadiri
The Malevolence expansion for Clone Wars will have ignition out each side. My favourite ships are still the ISD and the Raiders.
I love the Executor it is so detailed and it is so powerful! Long live the Empire!
Maybe the Malevolence will come out for CIS and have and have a left and right firing arc for its super weapon.
Finally found how to properly use this ship
The only ship that i can think of the would use 2 ignition arcs would be the malevolence with it's massive ion cannons
Can't wait to try this ship. My favorite ship is SSD.
I've just bought a venetor that I use with the SPHA-T upgrade card. Any chance you could do a video explaining this? Does it work differently?
Works the same, just uses the side arcs instead of the front ignition arc.
shall I determine if obstructed by measuring from the ignition token or the yellow spot on my ship?
Neat, i may have to see if i can pick one up
Love to play with Nebulon and Home One, btw.
My favorite ship is a toss between thrawns chimera or the indictor star destroyer
One of the dot points for the ignition rules says:
'At the beginning of a ship's Attack step, if its targeting token is in play, that ship must perform an ignition attack against a ship in the special firing arc that its targeting token is within as its first attack this activation, if able.'

What happens if an enemy ship overlaps the Ignition token?
Does the Onager get to choose any of the overlapping ship's hull zones when making its Special Battery attack?
Don’t crits do damage anyway? I don’t get the heavy particle cannon’s effect.
My favorite ship in Armada is the Arquitens Class Light Cruiser
