Turnpike Troubadours come up with some the best melodies, hands down.
Completely agree! They are haunting
Wow, "Lonesome feels better in motion" hit me hard.
Fellas-glad you’re doin’ alright.
I’ll see you all at the Ozarks Amphitheater tonight.
Lonesome feels better in motion. Subtely one of the best lines I've ever heard
Lonesome feels better in motion come on now that's some great writing❤❤❤❤
There’s an argument to be made this is their best song. Evan delivers his most powerful, beautiful vocal in the line “glad you’re doing alright” then follows that up with his most powerful lyric “I wonder who’s keeping the baby tonight.” Combine that moment (times 3 in the song) with some of the most beautiful harmonies and instrumentation - I think this might be my new favorite song by them.
It's hard to pick their best but I tend to agree with your position on this song. For myself as a musician, their use of traditional Country instrumentation while managing not to sound generic is what hits home. This has been what draws me to TT from the start and Lucille exemplifies that.
I can’t get over the first bit. “The neons were new, Robin Egg Blue, Brandin’ Iron Red, They Got Nothing on You”
Personally I like the bit about the moonlight being pearl handle white, as a pearl handled revolver. I think it adds a bit of a darker undertone.
Absolutely
Good lord lorie
This has a real townes sound in the verses. I love it.
Love that fiddle!
This might be their best song yet
Getting some of those darker Townes Van Zandt vibes on this one! Great songwriting!
Reminds me of “Rake” by Townes
@@kidelli2759Definitely! Similar in the way he sings the verses.
That second verse! Baritone tele and steel parts evoking some dark cloud prairie stuff in my head.
I can’t get over the bridge. The choir is huge but I love how the choir gets even bigger when he gets to the “windows wide open” part
Every time I listen to this I want to drink my worries away…
So I listen to it often
Did not disappoint, looking forward to that blue vinyl!
Can’t get this song out of my head I love it! ❤️
This is by far my favorite song by them!!! Absolutely amazing!
"Your bonfire that burned in the back of my mind"--awesome!!!
Geez I wish we could hear a vocal track only for the bridge! That huge choir sound is amazing. Hands down the best vocal work to date in my opinion.
Shooter Jennings did a great job of producing this--the whole record has a hymnal quality to it, and I think the production on this song is masterful.
They finally came to CT in February.I really wanted them to play this, they didn't. But the show was incredible! And they played the rut, I think for the 1st time live, at least that's what Evan said, not sure if he was joking. This has 92k views and at least 1k of them are me. Sooooooo good!
If you'd have told me a few years ago that Childers, Bryan, and the Troubadours would drop albums close together, and these guys would have the best, I wouldn't believe you. But this whole album rocks. I've listened to it almost daily since it released. Hardly looked at the other two
Your pedal steel player is the genius💯💯💯💯👍
Absolutely he is
Hammerin' Hank Early.
Each night I would find as if by design your bonfire that burns in the back of my mind❤❤❤❤
Totally agree--great line--this song is full of 'em.
I've been listening since the days when they played at big rock in Idabel oklahoma. So long now i have no memory of falling. This song just might take the spot as my favorite turnpike song. Fantastic job on the new album, not a single song disappoints.
"Oh, lonesome feels better in motion"......
I adore this group. Can't wait til 12/30.
Whats happening 12/30??

I was kinda bummed this album had some old songs on it. But they are new takes. And they are good.
But the new songs are excellent
