Sadly, $2 in 1997 is only $3.81 in today's money. Had this been a season one episode in 1989, it would have been worth $4.93 though. So, obviously we should split the difference and pretend it aired in 1995 and that it is worth $4.01 now, right? I don't think anyone can accuse Homer of being lazy. He had to re-position the platforms several times in one afternoon...he brings one UP the stairs for his first demonstration, then he takes it DOWN again to put it at the fridge, then UP again to put it in the bathroom (since he seems to shout to the toplevel at Lisa) only for BOTH to end up in the kitchen. He carried one of them up and down twice! And they don't look particularly weightless. Unless Marge had to carry it...
I don't know what's funnier: That Homer offered him 35 cents, despite it saying 2 dollars or that Frink decided to sell it for such a cheap price, despite it being one of his greatest inventions. xD
Either Homer was trying to downplay the usefulness of the machine in order to get a cheaper price or he's so ignorant that he doesn't know what matter is and pretends to have a grasp of the situation.
One of my favourite "screw the audience" jokes: Homer making a disgusted-sounding noise after drinking the cat ear medicine and then it's revealed he actually likes it
The best one is the school bus crashing into the highly unstable American Civil War cannon. "Of course, for safety reasons, we don't keep the cannon loaded. That's just common sense."
Maybe Homer would then chase Lenny and Carl around with an axe as they would end up messing with it. If Homer was willing to do that to his son Bart over that, there's no telling what he'd be willing to do to them over that.
Let's say that moving the machine is a 10 on the effort scale, while getting a snack is a 1. That means that moving the machine once is less effort than getting a snack 11 times.
The most amusing part of Lisa getting hit to me is that, not only was it directly in front of the toilet so she either stuck her head over to look in the transporter or decided to use the toilet despite the transporter being right there, but Homer specifically put it into the bathroom connected to his and Marge's room, not the hall one the kids usually use so Lisa has even less reason to be there lol
Professor Frink was brilliant enough to build a two-way matter transporter, but apparently he didn't think that maybe installing a door and a button to transport stuff manually on it would be a very good idea.
For some reason, the funniest part for me is that the thing is just the most unwieldly size and shape for using it around the house, and yet he's so entertained by the novelty of having a teleporter in the house, that he doesn't even think about using it effectively, like leaving one half at work and the other half in the garage.

I don’t know if the Scientist is smart for inventing a teleportation device, or if he’s dumb for selling it for $2.00 but instead gets 35 cents for it.
Considering how much some scientists in history got paid for their revolutionary inventions... 0.35$ for a teleporter isn't even satire. Just look at H. Tracy Hall who invented synthetic diamonds and made General Electric billions of dollars in profits, while he got rewarded with 10$ savings bond.

Ever since I was a kid I've said "Goodnight, LOSERS" to my friends, I only just realised I got it from this 🤣 That's how much the Simpsons is in my subconscious.
Why doesn’t Homer just put his head through the transporter when it’s next to the fridge? And why doesn’t he just step through it when it’s next to the toilet? That way he could see what he was doing.
$2.00 for a teleporter like that might seem cheap, but remember this came out a while ago. That's equivalent to about $4 in today's money.

It's relatable though. Who hasn't gotten really overexcited by a new gadget at least once?
The problem with putting it somewhere else is that other people could suddenly start showing up in your house.
Only problem is that the transporters are only useful where they are for as long as the user needs to be at said "where"
