Restoring a Tri-ang Princess Elizabeth from scrap to runner.

So, I bought a Tri-ang "Princess Elizabeth" on ebay for £15.00 spares or repair, it was in a bit of a sorry state. These locos can be resurrected quite easily and cheaply.
I had a spare tender which went perfect with it, if anyone knows where I can obtain some replica decals please leave a message in the comments.

My early Triang trains foul the plastic frog on all the points and lift the loco off the tails causing loss of power.
Is there anything that can be done to alleviate this issue please?
My track is the older "rusty" type, with single nail holes in the middle of the black plastic sleepers.
Can the loco wheel flanges be turned down, ground, or replaced with smaller flanged modern wheels, or whatever, please?
What's the consensus of opinion - replace the track with nickel, will this cure it?

Unfortunately, if you have Triang locos, it's best to use the old Triang track as the flanges are huge on these locos and don't like newer track.
