Does anyone know the name of this game?

Back in high school I learned about this game (I'm pretty sure). I created it this version around April 2018, but don't know much about it except the rules.
Each player gets 3 stones and take turns placing the stones. Once all stones are placed, you can move via the roads to a free spot and you can't move to the spot you were previously. Eventually, someone with control of the middle spot is forced out and a straight line of stones through the middle wins the game.
Anyone know what it's called or originated from?
