Those days were fun back then weren't they? Even all the heart-ache was worth it. The Drive, The Fumble..........and go back a little further - Red Right 88! (Jeez, I'm making a good case for the "curse" on Cleveland sports teams!)
Thanks for the post. This takes me back to the 1989-1990 season. At the time I lived within 30 minutes of Cleveland, and the local stations would play Browns songs like this. I remember another version of Bernie, Bernie (same group, different lyrics), the Bernie Shuffle (which parodied The Curly Shuffle) and Browns Really Got Desire (parodied We Didn't Start the Fire).
Bernie Kosar is omnipotent and multi-talented. His football card sits on the console of my mixer for every radio show I do. I think to myself "What would Bernie do?".
@TheWarriorchamp Didn't play, yes I agree. But when Dallas picked him up as a back up for Aikman he did play in 4 games. And he played well enough to help the Cowboys go to the Super Bowl and win. Did he get a Super Bowl ring? You bet he did! "Diminished skills" my ass.
Oh yea how you can throw... Super Bowl!! Great Song Love to hear him on Tony Rizzo's Show on Wknr...even if he alawys sounds drunk!! Bernie is Awesome!!
+20 years since i heard this too....Instant Nostalgia!.... [Cleveland Heights and Bedford ~ '82-'93] Props for this video and the dudes who made the song!
Hey, now that was a classy thing to say! We were all very proud of Bernie for winning a Super Bowl after getting hosed by Modell and Belichick. There has never been a more intelligent QB on the field in the NFL. How many QB's could draw up a play in the dirt and get a touchdown with it? Not many.
Glad you all dig the vid. I had a blast making it. Yep, Kosar was and still is my all time favorite Cleveland Brown. Hell of a nice guy too. To Albinous Rex - you are one of the creators of this song? Really? Cool. I don't claim to own the song or anything like that, I just always dug it and figured i'd make a video for it. Why not, right?
Awesome. The couple of times I have had the pleasure of meeting Bernie, he has been a very gracious, and giving of his time. I still think he would be an excellent coach, or player/management liason.
If you are a Browns Backer Club member, you can log into the Backers page on the Browns website and post that you are looking for this song. Somebody there would be able to help, no doubt. Personally, I'm not sure I remember this song......
In 1989, with Bernie Kosar as the QB, the Browns visited Pittsburgh and laid all kinds of hurt down on the Steelers - final score 51 to 0! Don't believe me? Look it up........
Other fan produced songs from that era that were pretty good were: "One Down Then Another," "Bernie's Back," and "Big Bad Bud." "Bernie's Back" had three versions that came out at nearly the same time, but the best version was by The Final Score!
Another bad moment in Cleveland was when safety Don Rogers, who was destined for a great career, dying of a cocaine overdose in 1986. Maybe we couuld of used him in The Drive the following year, but a bad decision by him cost his life. Someday, Cleveland might finally reverse its curse, but it is so painful to see the tragedies, but we can remember the good times of Cleveland sports.
Remember The 12 Days of Cleveland Browns Christmas? It was from 1980. The Kardiac Kids days. Remember that little gem? I'd give anything for a copy of that!
Possibly the best throw I've ever seen was Bernie's TD in, believe it or not, the blowout loss in 1993 against the Falcons in what was 1 of their forgotten Cinderella seasons. I have looked for it online everywhere.
@c ruther . The "Talking Tribe" from WKNR and WUAB/Fox Sports Ohio is on here just search for Talkin Tribe it will come up, I forgot who uploaded it but its on here
@jfntihnuero I'll add one more player - Ozzie Newsome. Tough as nails, dependable, a clutch player. Sure, he went with Modell to Baltimore, but I hold him blameless for that. A job is a job. #82 would be welcome in my home any day of the week.
That game with Cincinatti two weeks ago was great, got a win, and leaving the stadium the fans were just so happy.............It was great, the next good team the Browns field is going to be filled with support, they are just waiting up there in Cleveland for it. The city will explode again, screw lebron
Well Razor, I'll put it like this - I'd sooner call Schottenheimer "coach" than I would that damn Belichick! Seriously - he wanted Testeverde over Kosar, after Kosar had already spent so many seasons behind an offensive line of swiss cheese! Devil his due - Billy B. has done pretty well in New England, but Tom Brady is one hell of a quarterback!
All i know is that if Bernie ran for President this country would be in better shape and the decision would be SO much eaiser for millions of Americans! ha
Yes sir badddogg Coach Schottenheimer made him look good (5-19) alltime vs. ELWAY oh my bad do ya'll call Marty Coach up there or do ya'll cuse him? Bernie was a damn good QB luvd the side arm throws damn he could get em sum tight spots between the defenders.
and throw he did. until that first injury to his throwing arm and shoulder. then, he was only able to get the arm over about 3/4. kind of a sidearm delivery. blame it on having no offensive line for protection you can!
now, now. lets all play nice. devil his due, don't forget that the steelers have 5 super bowl championships. and you know, thats exactly half the amount of NFL championships the browns have!
Hate to disagree with you Felch - but it wasn't Bernie that made Elway look good. Not in the playoff game. It was Marty Schottenheimers prevent defense that did it. The only thing that the prevent defense will do is prevent you from winning the game!
O yeah man you forgot The Shot, 95/97 world series 2007 ALCS up 3 to 1 against the Red Sox, 2006 NBA Finals, and to a lesser extent 2006 and 2007 National Championshits in football and the 2006 Championshit in basketball, I mean it is OSU but it's the closest thing to Cleveland ...and the closest to a title we will ever get. It is only a matter of time before James is gone too, good ol' Cleveland, wouldn't have it any other way...embrace the horror of the curse of Rocky Colavito!! WE ARE FUCKED!
uh-huh. ok, sure. say, what team is that that is now tied with the steelers for the lead in the division? oh, yeah, it's bernies old team the browns. and hey, remeber when bernie "the bum" beat the steelers 51-0? gosh, that must have been embarrassing!
To the Atlanta game comment below: Bernie only played the Falcons in '87 in a 38-3 win against the Falcons. In '90 the Browns won a tight game with running TDs and in '93 the Browns lost because Philcox was the starter.
HAHAHAHA.....5 illegitmate illegally gained championships when half your team was roiding and one other superbowl due in large part to the worst officiating in playoff history!
Those days were fun back then weren't they? Even all the heart-ache was worth it. The Drive, The Fumble..........and go back a little further - Red Right 88! (Jeez, I'm making a good case for the "curse" on Cleveland sports teams!)
THE MVP OF THE AFC
The only player other than Jim Brown that can walk on water in Cleveland!!!! Those were great years when I was a young Cleveland Browns fan!!!!!
the MVP of the AFC!

I haven't heard this song in over 20 years. THANK YOU for posting this.
If Bernie ran for President he'd get my vote 100% no questions asked.
Bernie's the man! I wish he was still announcing like he did in the pre-season. He was hilarious!
Hell yeah, The good old days. But I see good things coming for our Browns! Hang in there, it's gonna happen!
Dan Richards
Amen
Oh yea how you can throw... Super Bowl!! Great Song Love to hear him on Tony Rizzo's Show on Wknr...even if he alawys sounds drunk!! Bernie is Awesome!!
he DID play. he took the last snap of the game.
+20 years since i heard this too....Instant Nostalgia!....

Great time to be a Cleveland sports fan! Seriously is there any song about one player that's even half as good as this one?
The MVP of the AFC!
Go Browns! I think I have this on a 45 somewhere.... Also I have Masters of the Gridiron with Michael Stanley.
Hildy Krish
LOOOOOOVE THAT SONG 🎶🎶Hard die the heroes🎶🎶🎶
Glad you all dig the vid. I had a blast making it. Yep, Kosar was and still is my all time favorite Cleveland Brown. Hell of a nice guy too.

Definitiely a song remembered by TRUE Browns fans! THE MVP OF THE AFC!
Awesome. The couple of times I have had the pleasure of meeting Bernie, he has been a very gracious, and giving of his time. I still think he would be an excellent coach, or player/management liason.

Yeah, it would have been interesting though. He played for the Browns for a few years, and was a special teams coach as well, I believe.
On this Primary day in 2016 I voted for Bernie Sanders. I thought of this song as I left.
UGH
Our math teacher sang this song so much, that he has a facebook fanpage for it!!!!!!!!! :D
Good job man. I can't find that old "Talkin' Baseball and the Tribe song".
The greatest NFL Player song EVER!
Remember The 12 Days of Cleveland Browns Christmas? It was from 1980. The Kardiac Kids days. Remember that little gem? I'd give anything for a copy of that!

I still sing this song today.
Since '98, the Browns have had the Coaches-Go-Round. Give Romeo a decent shot. Get him the horses that can run the full race.
Hell yeah! Bernie for President! I'd vote for him!
Feel the Bern (old school).
Thanks Doc!
this song beats that annoying "here we go" crap any day of the week. hopefully next year we can sing "Brady, Brady"
@c ruther . The "Talking Tribe" from WKNR and WUAB/Fox Sports Ohio is on here just search for Talkin Tribe it will come up, I forgot who uploaded it but its on here
@badddogg147 video is good, we all appreciate your efforts. glad you could get it online!

wasn't there a song from this era with lyrics "bernie, take me to the promised land and let those footballs fly?"
That game with Cincinatti two weeks ago was great, got a win, and leaving the stadium the fans were just so happy.............It was great, the next good team the Browns field is going to be filled with support, they are just waiting up there in Cleveland for it. I just want to tell everyone that Bernie started out a lot like Colt McCoy....
he sure made elway look good
Anyone know where the dudes who made this song are now? Trying to track them down for Channel 3 News!
When was Bernie on the cover of Madden? Is that photoshopped? I wore a Kosar t-shirt under my uniform every game my junior year.
and throw he did. until that first injury to his throwing arm and shoulder. then, he was only able to get the arm over about 3/4. kind of a sidearm delivery. blame it on having no offensive line for protection you can!
I need this on cd...how can I get it?
now, now. lets all play nice. devil his due, don't forget that the steelers have 5 super bowl championships. and you know, thats exactly half the amount of NFL championships the browns have!
bernie bernie oh baby how you can throw
where are the squeelers going?
Mike Pagel?! Oh boy! Is there any other NFL city that has had as much QB controversy as Cleveland? Think about it.........
Hate to disagree with you Felch - but it wasn't Bernie that made Elway look good. Not in the playoff game. It was Marty Schottenheimers prevent defense that did it. The only thing that the prevent defense will do is prevent you from winning the game!
That doesn't seem that fortunate.
GO BROWNS
Go Browns.
O yeah man you forgot The Shot, 95/97 world series 2007 ALCS up 3 to 1 against the Red Sox, 2006 NBA Finals, and to a lesser extent 2006 and 2007 National Championshits in football and the 2006 Championshit in basketball, I mean it is OSU but it's the closest thing to Cleveland
