Excellent man! I'm still using this old stuff, and when you stop using it for 3 years, forget everything, let's say that is not the most intuitive device to set up , jajja
Fantastic tutorials, great help. Just a quick question on this though - once your phrase is made in this way does the SDPS remember the tempo you recorded at, and allow you to change this tempo afterwards, or is your phrase now just saved as a solid sample which cannot be edited in this way? Thanks so much! Mike
i realise this video is from 2010 but if you are still actively looking at your channel i wondered, is it possible to plug this into a computer then just use a recording device on the computer and record sessions (maybe with soundforge or audacity) so they can then be chopped into loops and arranged inside a daw such as cubase etc?
You could connect it to your computer via the analogue audio jacks and "play" the samples into your compuer for editing, but there's no digital interface (like a USB) for direct editing on the SPD-S. The only other way is to use the Compact Flash card but it's still effectively "sneakernet"
@@ozthekeymaster I have a audio interface mixing console with some inputs , red and white audio, xlr, and jacks, which i use to record a xlr mic inside pc..would i be able to plug into the jack inputs then record in the same way I record the mic,.i assumed that's what they're for (or guitars or something.) so far i just use it for the xlr input shure mic i have and my decks using the red and white inputs. haha now i have said this outloud it seems obvious and think i already know the answer i just wanted to be sure before i spend 500 on the spd-s! I could use drum pads in ableton, but rather have pads i can use with drum sticks. thanks for advice!
Do you know how to set up a patch to tap tempo so that loops will playback at the tempo you tap? I think I have all the settings set right (one pad to "TAP TEMPO" and the pad with the loop set to "TEMPO SYNC" but my loops all play back at the same tempo.
At the end of this vid chris points out that no effects are recorded when making a phrase, and you say you'll be covering how to apply effects to samples in a later video. I can't seem to find that vid, and I'd like to apply some verb to a phrase I've just made. Please advise...
Can you help me? I have purchased an FD7 and a KD7 for my SPD-S, but I have no idea how to connect them so that I can control my hihats and kick. I have looked through your videos and can find no info. I would appreciate it greatly if you could point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Your tutorials have been really helpful. Haven't looked at the manual once! Much appreciated.
Glad they helped :-)

Can anyone tell me, is it possible to record a sample, assign that sample to a pad and simply be able to start and stop by just hitting the pad?

How can you change the tempo once you have done the phrase making? ....and you have already resampled it
This is great! Thanks!
Thanks sir
