If Balrog is trash then his statement is doubly true
The wording is a bit unclear. Balrog gets bonuses for hp lost. Mad Ryu gets bonuses for hp missing. Does that mean that Balrog keeps his bonuses after getting healed? If so, does his 6/6 cars mean he can reach insane crit rate and crit damage levels by taking damage and getting healed? There's no mention of a bonus cap for his 6/6 cars
I don't think he necessarily has to be close to death before he either starts to hit hard or tank better. He just has to lose the HP. If he's paired with a healer on his assist slot or you have a healer in the line-up, he'll retain the accumulated damage and damage reduction stats and still be closer to full health as long as he gets healed by a healer.
My issue with Balrog is that he came very late. If he had come a few months ago, he probably would have been great. But at this point, he's been very heavily powercrept by all of these great tanks like Gouken, new Honda (heck old Honda too) and both Abels tbh. He just came out too late to be worth the diamonds.
S.Yang, Bison, Balrog, Gouken seems to be a pretty decent PVP team so far.
I tried him in the trials and he seemed pretty good and usable but for me personally I compared him to Evil Ryu and it felt like they was ultimately very similar with a few exceptions. The way they play (survivability by shield or damage reduction and decently big hits) felt very similar and particularly when looking at their overall role.
I think anyone summoning for him is getting a decent unit but I'd prefer to push other units I'm already building. I have Sagat at SS and Trendy Cammy at SS and it feels like both of those would be more useful to me personally. Not to mention with first anniversary coming around I wouldn't mind keeping my options open for if anything else shows up.
Solid advice here, so thank you. I've been very underwhelmed with Balrog when using him in his trial so far. Having said that, I'm currently stuck on the Sagat challenge fight in the Balrog trial, so if you've got any advice on the best combination of units to use for it, that would be most appreciated 😅👍🏻

I got Rhonda Sss+1 and can NOT wait to at least hit +2 for Soul Power. I got x1 Copy of Balrog & I am DONE and Moving On!
Thanks for the advice. The half off price had me interested at first, but I was still worried that I was going to waste my tickets on a character that might be mid and hold me off on leveling up my Evil Ryu. After seeing this, I'll just stick to trying for more E.Ryus.

i can see why the other guy said roll for balrog right now. i think he ment for the long run when u have got all your champs at sss so u can maximize your level cap??? thanks hayzink i was on the fence about getting this champ..... theres better champs than him and id rather roll for other ones instead. with his kit i consider him a A tier champ. definitely not a broken champ like others.....
Do you think Rich Honda is worth getting the grants for to get him another 2 copies? Going for Suit Abel through the Choice Recruit as I can get 5 copies through that but I don’t know if Honda is worth spending actual money on 🤷🏻♂️
alot of the top rankers, if you take a look at their builds, you will see Rich Honda quite a bit ..

Fashion blanka is the only true full proper f2p unit.

I watch video's from the both of you HAYZ and pika before we also had pain and rokage etc. Did you guys notice a BOXER has a wrestling style in balrog? There's better units in infernal the only reason I see people SSS him is for the +5 levels. If it was infernal viper at half off I would have dropped everything for her but this guy is a joke an infernal unit with no soul damage come on.
What a hell are you talking about? I level up 12 on the monument, from 356 to 368 are you a joke or what, is obviously a push on every acc, more for f2p players

I’ll be skipping Balrog for now although I did want him for collection purposes. I’ll build up my other infernal characters first. thx for this information 🫡😎
