    Eurovision 2022 has officially finished with Ukraine taking the crown and winning the 66th year of the contest.
    As we slip into Post-Eurovision Depression, I thought i would look at all the songs Ukraine has blessed us with for the past 19 years since entering the contest in 2003.
    What's your favorite Ukrainian entry? Let me know down in the comments!

    Definitely in 2019 Ukrainians were right about Maruv. She's in russia now and just keep silent about the war. No matter how good song is, Eurovision is the place where you present you country and you should deserve it.

    • @ponkrjulia
      @ponkrjulia Год назад +5

      omg Eurovision is a song contest nor political. Maruv wasn't in Russia, she had tours in Russia, which is logical. Russia is bigger, there are more people there, so you will get more money. And the national selection for Eurovision in Ukraine that year was very scandalous - instead of choosing songs, they interrogated every artist about Ukraine, Russia and Crimea. Maruv herself later wrote about a contract with a company that would accompany her to Eurovision, and many points there were very controversial.

    Ukraine is a powerhouse of Eurovision for sure! The only country that has qualified every single time! (and def would have qualified with Maruv's Siren Song, Go_A's Solovey or Alina Pash's Shadows of forgotten ancestors as well, even most likely finishing really high in the top with all of these 3 entries). Also the only country that has won 3 times in 21st century 🔝❤

    There is a cool trend for mixing traditional and modern music in Ukraine right now, and that makes ukrainian music unbeliviably cool and unique. Like Dakha Brakha, Onuka, Dakh Daughters. And thats mind blowing like how ukrainians react to the war with misic: Jerry Hail & Verka Serduchka "Геть з України", Via Bayraktar, Mixes of group "Мюслі", and so much more. Will be nice to see u react

    A little info on artists who performed those years, not about everyone, just those who had some story.
    Ani Lorak, Loboda and Maruv are pretty much cancelled in Ukraine, because for understandable reasons we don't tolerate much people who made career in R*ssia AND never clarified their position on Crimea, or Donbas, or upcoming war, telling "what's the difference"
    Andrii Danylko (Verka Serduchka) and Tina Karol are among most respected pop artists of all time in Ukraine. Both were multiple times in ESC Vidbir Jury, as well as Jamala.
    Mika Newton now lives in USA and doesn't perform much,, However, she was the artist who appeared in 2022 Grammy Awards alongside John Legend with strong pro-Ukrainian message.
    Zlata Ognevich in 2014 has been elected as MP (from Radical Party, pretty populist power), however, she later withdrawn and returned to singing career. Also sho was in Bachelorette show in 2021.
    Alyosha has her own career and also is a wife of Taras Topolya, frontman of Antytila band, who has now feat with Ed Sheeran.
    2016 was our year of glory. We had competition in Vidbir between Jamala and THE HARDKISS. And if you'll check the second band, they freaking SLAP. We could easily win with therm as well.
    Ruslana in 00's was a hero of local Wardrobe Malfunction. Yes, it was the Wild Dances costume and too short skirt without underpants. You get what happened.
    Melovin in 2020 came out as bi, what is quite a bold move in Eastern European country. It didn't affect his career much, so, I see no reasons to remain in closet for some other artists)
    Hope that someone found interesting facts in these comment. Best wishes to all, except r*ssian aggressors and their supporters)

      @ask3372 2 года назад +4

      So you cancel artists because they want to have a career outside of Ukraine and don't want to express an opinion on a subject they don't have a clear understanding of the whole thing?

      @anastasiaproshenko8345 2 года назад +62

      @@ask3372 just to clarify, because they want to sit on two chairs at the same time. Also, I think that if the war was in your country you would like to hear support from people who earn money from you. For example, Ani Lorak who became canceled because of her stupidness decided to change everything 4 years later, and in an interview, when she was asked about the war in Donbas and Crimea situation she said: I am the tree of love...
      What the fuck is that? Her Turkish ex-husband helped Ukraine much more than she did, by the way.
      All I can say is that to understand why we do so people need to know a bit more about the relationship between Ukraine and russia for the last 400 years, it is more complicated than just cancelation because of a career outside.

    2:47 this brings me back to seeing the news covering the Orange Revolution (I was a kid so I don't remember that much). The song was essentially the anthem of the Orange Revolution "together we are many, we can't be defeated". The Eurovision song removed the references to politics ("Yushchenko- yes! Yushchenko- yes! Yes! Yes! This is our president!") though I hear that they left in "Fraud- No! No to lies!"

      If our partners help Ukraine well and stop trading with f russia, it will all be over very soon. But some of them are still hesitating so Europeans can go on demonstrations and ensure that Eurovision is safely held in Ukraine. All is in your hands

    Congratulation and thank you for such a nice show.
    This is my second time watching you. And, I plan on watching your shows as much as possoble. I have signed up for notifications. Lol. True story.
    Anyway,
    The countries that participate in the Eurovision should be required to sing in their own languages. The idea of singing in English, unless that's your native language, sounds like cultural imperialism. And, I don't like imperialism. For me, the whole idea of watching the Eurovision is to listen to all the variety of languages and see all the different fashions that make Europe culturally so rich. So, when I hear someone singing in their non native language I feel cheated and consider it a tragedy.
    Also, I wasn't please with Ukraine being the winner. Lol
    But in a way I'm ok with that; Because, all the participants were and are real champions. And, they all brought us and not only Europe but the whole world some beauty, which at this point in history we could use more of.
    Keep up the good work. Soon you'll have a million followers

      They shouldn't be required, only because they already tried it, during the 90s there was a language rule and in that time Ireland and the UK won like 6 times in the decade or something crazy like that, mostly because English had become such a global language. So making it required will only hurt the success of other countries

      @@mattww7 I heard that argument before. I respectfully disagree with that type of sacrifice. And I know plenty of times that songs in other languages won.
      Yep, I'm all for making it mandatory to sing in one's own language.
      People have been so brainwashed and some have given up any sort of pride and decency.
      We need to change that attitude.
      Perhaps there should be some subtitles customized to the audience in each country. But that's it. No to cultural imperialism and no to linguistic superiority !

    Ukraine weren't robbed in 2007 although only Molitiva was worthy of beating Verka but they were in 2008. I'm not keen on 2011 and 2013 and 2014 was mainly about the hamster wheel but I think Green Jolly and Be My Guest are underated. 1944 does indeed get in your bones. Time isn't that bad but I guess not great in the year of Salvador, Blanche, the return of epic 🎷 guy, Origo and Yodel It - getting lost in the shuffle was an uneviatability.

      Time eas much better at national selection. It seems they made specifically cringe staging to avoid high placing
