I'm late by like 2 years but OMG this was SO helpful. I have 0 experience in drawing flowers (and I've tried, I just suck at it lol) much less drawing from real life references but I decided to try this out just now and IT WORKED SO WELL!!! I just immediately understood the process and breaking it down into those simple rough shapes helped the process click in my head. Even if you never read this, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to both Becca and Meghan, you guys helped me SO much!!!

I become attached to peonies and related flowers because it was (and is becoming for me) favourite flower of my grandma, who's very dear but no longer with us. Thank you for the instruction. The particular kind my grandma like, I believe, is in peony family but so far I wasn't able to find the exact word transition for English. For those who are Koreans or know Korean, it is 동백꽃. Thank you for the instruction video! p.s. even your "rough" sketches are my goal because to me it already looks perfect! Especially the leaves!
