    Had a kid in the Braves organization sign for 125K... so about 65k after taxes. Used a fake ID to run up a 30k bar tab at House of Blues in Downtown Disney one night. Considering he came to mini camp with a new Expedition on rims I’m sure his bonus was gone within a week. Crazy.

      Hi I just watched your video on getting paid in the minors and had a question.
      Do you get a signing bonus and then a salary? You said you played mlb for league minimum

    • @easysnake205
      @easysnake205 5 лет назад +1

      AB 87
      You get the signing bonus for signing the contract. After that you make your salary which is separate. For a minor leaguer it isn’t much. After you make it to the majors you start the clock on your arbitration years. It takes 3 years after you start your clock by playing a minimum number of mlb games (I forget the amount of games) to reach your arbitration years. Before your arbitration years the team has 100% control of how much they play players. Once you reach the arbitration years your agent and the team’s reps present arguments infront of a neutral arbitrator who sets the salary during the arbitration years.
      After 3 arbitration years, in any year a player is not under contract they are a free agent and can sign with any team. This is where the players can make the huge money. Some teams will offer players contracts earlier in the process to lock them up. Players often sign for the stability of guaranteed earnings.

    I worked at Tower Records in LA for a while back in the 70's, we use to talk about how you could tell when a pro football or baseball player would suddenly come into a lot of money. They'd be in the store for hours buying dozens of records. I remember several times guys coming to the register with literally stacks of albums, maybe fifty or more at one time. I remember one guy in particular who played for the Ram's buying over three thousand dollars worth of records, and he had a little blonde bimbo with him that kept asking if she could pick out some records for herself. All he would say was "yea baby, we''ll do that sometime".

    Some cars appreciate in value, such as low production number Porsches (GT3 RS, Cayman GT4), last generation Supra and some others. Although, this is the exception, rather than the rule.

    • @chrisreynolds6391
      @chrisreynolds6391 5 лет назад +1

      You can't daily drive those cars and expect them to hold value! You need a garage to park them in (not cheap in San Diego) and still none of them really beat the stock market rate of return.
      Investing in exotic cars is stupid unless you are a professional car salesman.

      @chrisreynolds6391 5 лет назад

      @Bruce Bashore the point is when you are selling a $30k+ classic car, the grading process is brutal. A few missing records, and paint scuff can bring the value down significantly.

      @chrisreynolds6391 5 лет назад

      @Bruce Bashore here's the thing, I'd love to see your car. I even googled it to see examples on ebay.
      But right now you don't even have a thumb nail picture and you are saying you are ready to market a $30k collectors item with a myriad of style variations. You are looking a huge expense in photography costs.
      I saw one example of your truck for $22,000 one for $35,000 and I couldn't easily tell the difference.

      My Dad and step Mom both bought Jags. She'd had hers for a year, never any problems. So, Dad decided to get one. (Both bought brand new btw). His broke down with major problems, on the way home from the dealership! In a 90 day period, it spent about 70 days in the shop. In and out, ....Finally, the lawyer got involved and Jaguar bought it back at full price.
      Step Moms? She kept it 2 more years. No issues at all.

      Not EVERY British car is unreliable, just a majority of them are, uh, questionable.

    Lots of people are probably wondering if you're talking about 10K, 100K or 1.5 million, etc. (it can be looked up on google pretty easily, but it's not my business to post it on here).
    Guy from a high school in my division (Matt White) in the mid 1990s got a little more than $10M, and I don't think he ever pitched in the majors. I don't know him, so I don't know what he did or where he is now, but I'd bet he's not living in Waynesboro, PA - if he is, he could live pretty large there.

  • @thebassbuilder
    @thebassbuilder 5 лет назад

    I know this is an old video and you may have answered this already but how much is a signing bonus or yours anyway? Not asking for exact but $500k +/-. Just a ballpark idea. You hear about these but never know what they are unless it is someone who gets drafted and gets some crazy high dollar contract or bonus. Based off your video I would have to think yours was over $500k with what you were able to buy and still be able to invest most. Just did not know if these are normally in the million plus range. Sorry for being nosey just had me thinking after watching the video. Great videos regardless and keep it up.

    Back in 2008 you should have bought a Mark IV Toyota Supra Twin Turbo. I believe they made the Mark IV until 2002 or 2003. The Mark IV Supra steadily increased in value due to the 2JZ engine and it being the hero car in the original The Fast and the Furious.
