    I did a similar decision process of Hamilton field watches a couple of months ago & landed on the [42mm] Murph which I’m very happy with. With another brand’s field watch (Vaer) I had found having the somewhat traditional 12/24 hour markers was redundant & therefore took away some of its appeal. The Murph’s simplicity is part of why it resonates with me.

    To truly go old school you would want one with no day date complications. That being said that was then and this is now. My favorites are the Khaki King in black or champagne or the manual wind in black. I own three Hamiltons and black in any version gives you tons more strap options. All said and done they are all great watches including the quartz models. I can’t seem to take them off my wrist leaving my others gathering dust. Whatever you decide will be a great choice. Enjoy

    I am ready to pull the trigger on one. But why do people complain about the water resistance/ damage? Are these watches allergic to water? Is the lack of screw down a problem? A field watch that survives a war, survives water?

    • @adventureswithtime
      @adventureswithtime  4 года назад +1

      I think it is all psychology. I for one will probably never go in the water deeper than 5 meters (about 15 feet). So certainly a 100m watch is more than I need. But its that fear, not a rational fear, that we shouldn't subject a non-diver to any water. In fact, I only use certain watches in the water; not even some of my divers. Perhaps it's a fear of scratching the watch on something; or that I might not have fully secured the crown. I'm not saying this is logical; rather the theory of "why take the chance" during those infrequent times I go swimming. I do tend to baby most of my watches except for what I consider my beater watches. Its something I'm trying to get over.

    • @pendantdrop3710
      @pendantdrop3710 4 года назад

      @@adventureswithtime Thanks, very rational thinking. Even for dive watches, the promaster for example, Citizen states that it should be serviced yearly to maintain it's 200m divers rating. At the end, everything can leak when not taking care of.

      I totally agree. I tried it on in a different color and then ordered the one I wanted. By doing this I discovered that I didn’t like the Murph on my wrist.
      Thanks for watching and your insight

    Hamilton is lovely, but get the real deal :-). Go for an IWC Mark XVI at 39mm with the legendary ETA 2892-A2 movement. Three hand movement with date complication. In my opinion the perfect field watch. Buy it secondhand so the depreciation is already baked in. Whatever you choose I'm sure it'll be great so enjoy!

    Great video, I’ve been trying to decide on which one myself between the 38m Mechanical with the black face, the Murph and an auto with the day date. I need to just stumble on like 3 grand so I can get all of them😒

    Lorus lumibrite, beats the khaki king field and day. Everything is better on the lorus and its about 380€ cheaper 😀 these Hamilton's are over hyped and overpriced.
