Love Within Temptation. Not a fan of Rap.
    But God Damn, this works.
One of my favorite tracks on the album.

Some rap is good. I personally like songs such ans "Stan" and "Beautiful." But Gangster rap is low. Most rap fans don't listen to the introspective, philosophical stuff, or they don't care.

Early MNM stuff is fine but today it all seems to be about money, cars, bitches etc. which is so boring and repetitive and the videos for much of mainstream music (not just rap) is over sexualized which also gets wearing. I tend to hunt out more obscure artists who are in it for the music.

My wife started getting sick several years ago. The doctors said her kidneys were too badly damaged, and she could not survive a transplant. After years, she passed away in May of this year. I had slowly started to put myself in that dark place Xzibit seems to be in in the main video for this song... but recently... I have changed...This song is one of a few that helped pull me from that place... And we run~

I usually stay away from today's rap genre... But I'm a huge fan of mixed styles. And holy hell, this song is quite nice. The high contrast of the voices, rhythm and beats are what makes things like this so good.

All the people saying they hate rap make the same mistake I used to. Rap isn't all bad, when it started out it was about real people facing struggles, and there's good songs that happen to be by rap artists and have a positive message.
But rap music that's about ego and hoes and money? Yeah, that's bullshit, I agree.

    • @Blueglitter73
      @Blueglitter73 9 лет назад +5

+Mikihara I absolutely agree with you. I listen to songs with rap that seems like a poem or has a meaning. That's the kind of rap I like.
Popular rap that's about ego and hoes and money like you said, is pointless to me. I don't listen to that kind of rap, because it irks me how selfish and vulgar they sound.

    • @FeministCatwoman
      @FeministCatwoman 9 лет назад +3

Starfire★Uchiha I tend to get especially turned off by all the racist slurs in that particular genre of rap. Not to mention the plethora of rappers, male and female, who talk about abuse and rape and assault in their music like it's all a joke.

    • @Blueglitter73
      @Blueglitter73 9 лет назад +3

I don't know why that genre of rap is popular. I don't know why people like to listen to that stuff. Maybe they are influenced in wanting to become those kind of rappers, thinking that it's "cool". Just wondering.

When I first saw that Xzibit would be featured in this song, I knew that it would be fantastic, and it is, but I also knew that it would really bring out all of the people that strictly listen to metal and anything rap or even close to it is pure evil. People seem to (somehow) not understand why this album is called Hydra. Hydras have several heads - and this album has several styles off music. Only a few songs on Hydra would I actually consider "metal," but the diversity is why I really love this album. Featuring Xzibit on the album was an excellent decision and "And We Run" is one of my favorite songs on the album (with Silver Moonlight, Let Us Burn, Tell Me Why, Paradise, and Dog Days). It isn't my #1 favorite Within Temptation album, but I definitely love it and its diversity.

    • @AAAbattery726
      @AAAbattery726 10 лет назад +2

completely agree with this comment/analysis. Loved the fact that you connected the Hydra's heads to the diversity of featured vocalists in this album. Agreed, it isn't my favorite WT album (simply because it doesn't flow as well as other albums), but the songs on the album and the diversity WT brings out just goes to show that they are true musicians. Yes, there are genres in music, but to simply say that two genres cannot mesh together is simply shallow-minded. This is a beautiful track and easily one of my favorite songs ever written by them. Thank you for your insight!

Normally, I turn my nose up to any kind of hip-hop or rap with disdain...normally. What WT has done here, I find to be utterly amazing! There are people out there who hate metal and that is worshiping evil. There are people who hate rap/hip-hop and think that they rap about b!tches and drugs. We have to learn to respect each other. We cannot be stereotypical about a certain genre. I like many different genres and I love when artists come together and create something new. For those of you who hate a certain genre go give them a chance it's not going to hurt.

all those metal heads who complain about rapping being in a metal song, should really be ashamed of themselves. that´s one of the things what´s wrong with society - being stuck in a box, too damn stubborn to try something different and ignorant towards other genres.
it´s ok to not like a particular rap, but it´s not ok to diss the entire genre, and saying it has no place in metal.
go listen to rage against the machine and stop being so damn close-minded.

In truth, I agree whole heartedly (Dunno iffen that's the right wording, but meh). In fact, the song is beautiful on it's own, but the rapping from Xzibit fits the song and the tempo quite well. I tip my hat to ye, FruityHachi. It gives me hope to see that there is still people out there that take a step back and look at the whole picture =D. Once more, I tip my hat to ye, good person. XD

After listening to the whole entire album, I must say it works. I, at first, was like, "Wha...?" Then I listened to it in the context of the album and I must say it's a good song. Music may be presented in a box but, it does not always have to follow what's in the box and be confined to it. Music is free flowing.

I've been WT's fan for about 10 years, i know they've changed but I'm so proud of how far they've come. I actually like the rap. You need to do stuff different if you want to set yourself apart from the rest. The fact that a lot of goth-oriented people are as conservative and narowminded as fuck, doesn;t mean it's a bad choice.
However, the orchestral part doesn't come through enough. Especially in the part where Xzibit's voice is leading. It just doesn't fit. It the chorus it's ok. But they should only have done it towards the end of the song...

All the butthurt people whining about rap are really pathetic but also funny in their idiocy.
The whole Hydra album is about the different faces of WT's music (Hydra = creature with several heads, just like their music have various influences). This album has songs with strong gothic vibes as well as modern, even fusion songs. They have 4 duets: with a metalcore singer, with a rock singer, with a lyric/symphonic metal singer and with a rapper.
This album shows the band's passion for MUSIC and not just for a category.
Jesus Christ broaden your minds people; I'm not asking you to like this song but you should respect the band's originality and work and inspiration to propose something different while retaining their essence (Hydra has way more old WT influences than The Unforgiving) instead of criticizing them because "they changed", "they included rap", etc.

One of the most amazing collaborations that had everything to go wrong. I know, I know, it kinda sucks to have them get a rapper on a song (and I love rap as much as I love metal) but this? It flows so well, it's so damn powerful, it grows and it's actually something only Within Temptation would pull off. Because honestly, what we need in this genre isn't collabs with other singers from the same genre. We need diversity, and WT are giving it to us in the best way possible. This is a true piece of musical art, as most of their albuns are. But hey. Opinions, right?

    • @Jemalacane0
      @Jemalacane0 10 лет назад +4

Honestly, this has cost Within Temptation a fan in me; at least for a while. Rap is not music nor has it ever been. I don't give a shit what anyone says. I used to like rap until I realized it's not music. Even if it is music, it is the lowest, shittiest form of music. My love for metal, especially symphonic metal burns very hot, Symphonic metal is the best genre of modern music whereas rap is the worst. Putting rap together with symphonic metal is like putting matter and antimatter together; they will destroy each other. Seriously, Within Temptation, you don't need to sell out to make your music more popular or the be more relevant.

      Jemalacane0
      Definition of Music:
: sounds that are sung by voices or played on musical instruments
: written or printed symbols showing how music should be played or sung
: the art or skill of creating or performing music
Don't be dissing a genre by calling it "Not Music". That's like a retro gamer saying farmville isn't a game.

    • @diogoRibeirinha
      @diogoRibeirinha 10 лет назад +3

Well, Jemalacane0 , Rap is the worst for you. Probably not for others. I still think this track in particular is brilliant. I still think that merging different genres of music is great when done properly, and I think WT did not sell out. Being creative is not selling out.

I love this song. Why are people getting so upset about rap in this song? It's pretty closed minded IMO to be upset about incorporating different genres. I don't like modern radio rap but there's some good real rap music out there.

Rap that speaks of shooting people, women, and money know that's what sells. sure there is rap out there that speaks about struggle and valid points but more often than not it is about sex, violence and drugs. I am not a big fan of rap because often I've found negative messages in some of them. I don't look or seek out the bad side of rap because that makes me bias and that is wrong. all music that everyone makes is good for someone to hear. you have to listen to the lyrics or like me see the written lyrics to truly begin to understand how or why the song plays as it does. because at least for me the way some singers sing makes it difficult for me to understand what they are saying. lyrics truly help me really enjoy the music.

I am a fan of some rap, i.e Eminem, Hollywood Undead, Linkin Park etc. A lot of it is terrible, especially popular rap music, but rap like the rap in these verses is amazing. Like you've said, lyrics help me enjoy music too.

    Lyrics:
    It burns into your heart
    The darkness that you fear
    You were never free
    And you never realized
    And love is a word
    You never heard
Your heart ain't cold, 'cause it burns
A desire to leave the mire
    Take your breath
    'Till nothing's left
    Scars of life
    Upon your chest
    And I know
    Wherever it goes
    [Chorus:]
    And we run
    With a lonely heart
And we run, for this killing love
And we run, 'till the heavens above
    Yeah we run
    Running in the dark
And we run, 'till we fall apart
And we run, 'till the heavens above
    Don't blink, you'll miss it
    Lift up your head
    We gotta get gone
    Yeah, we outta here!
    Don't blink, you'll miss it
    Lift up your head
    Too late, we gone
    Yeah, we outta here!
    And we run
    With a lonely heart
    And we run
    For this killing love
And we long for a heavenly heart
    I'm a break these chains
    Ran thru the rain
    Never look back, never quit
    Work thru the pain
This blood in my veins runs cold
When I think it'll never be the same
    But I never lose hope
    This is MY time now!
    No time for tears
    Celebrate
Put it in the air right now!
    Never back down
You could never wear my crown
    Cause it weighs too much
    And I crush
    Every muthafuckin thing I touch
    This is love
    I've never loved so much!
    Get involved
    Make the world stand up!
    Give my life
    Before I ever give up
"Name in lights" you lost all my trust
Now it's time to face all of us
Get in line cause they callin' us
    And it feels so marvelous
Just take my hand and RUN!
    [Chorus:]
    And we run
    With a lonely heart
And we run, for this killing love
And we run, 'till the heavens above
    Yeah we run
    Running in the dark
And we run, 'till we fall apart
And we run, 'till the heavens above
    Yeah! We outta here!
    Don't blink, you'll miss it
    Lift up your head
    We gotta get gone
    Yeah, we outta here!
    Don't blink, you'll miss it
    Lift up your head
    Too late, we gone
    Yeah, we outta here!
    And we run
    With a lonely heart
    And we run
    For this killing love
And we long for a heavenly heart
    Don't blink, you'll miss it
    Lift up your head
    We gotta get gone
    Yeah, we outta here!
    Don't blink, you'll miss it
    Lift up your head
    Too late, we gone
    Yeah, we outta here!
    Too late we're gone
    Yeah, we outta here!

Normally I would point out how pointless it is to put the lyrics in the comments of a video that has the lyrics, but the font choice is so abysmal that for once I'm glad for you.
