Americans have become accustomed to hearing Europeans deny them claims to Euro ancestry, which is bizarre. It would be nice to see that sentiment disapear, and this is very refreshing. I read somewhere recently that "the same Europeans who say that ethnically European Americans aren't related are the same ones who say a Somalian who has been in Ireland for a month is as Irish as a family who has been there for 50 generations. Stop listening to them."
Canadian here, and I'm proud always to be Mennonite who's grandparents came from Russia, and my husband's parents came from Poland. I agree the push to include non-whites as natives to Europe is anti-white agenda.
Italians love to do this as well. To them, "Italian-Americans" aren't Italian at all despite having the exact same ancestry. They will likewise accept some African migrant whose been there for a couple years as more "Italian" than "Italian-Americans". My great-grandfather is from the same place in Italy as my girlfriend and she maintains that I am not Italian at all lol
Yessir! I’m a 6th generation American, and my family on my dads side hails from rural KY. One of my cousins on his side did one of those detailed DNA tests, came back over 80% Scottish. I was astonished by that, and I came to learn that the community my dad and grandfather are from is almost purely Scottish in ancestry, with a handful of Irish and obviously some African and Native American. I love little isolated communities that naturally resist outbreeding. I’m glad to have a majority ancestry that I can celebrate, and that my blood remembers.

I am from NC, I have a teeny bit of German and a large amount of Noble Gothic Burgundian from the Marchant family from France, I have Irish and Scots as well as likeally Scotch-Irish and Welsh, and I know that I have English and as well I have 30 percent native American from the Chihuahua tribe (Mexico) and Sappony tribe (North Carolina) We are incredibally mixed here in America, but British blood certainly is more common than anything else

If you're speaking Irish, you say Gaeilge - pronounced gayl-geh. Scholars tell us to use the word "Irish." Which, like "Gaelic," is an English word. But Irish academics can be weird. They're the ones calling Irish people racists and xenophobes for wanting to keep Irish ground Irish. Thankfully, the world has had enough of them and is turning on them. @@bastian9693 They usually are though. The Irish are only concentrated in the Northeast. Scottish ancestry is even waaay lower, only 3% of Americans for e.g identifies as being of Scottish heritage. The pioneers and frontiersmen were mostly English. Famous pioneer men like Daniel Boone aand Jim Bridger were all English. The Founding Fathers were mostly English as were the Pilgrims before them and the Jamestown colonists.

My family, along with many, many others, are largely descended from German, and Scots Irish immigrants. I share this ancestry with President Trump. Many people of this region still maintain a fierce sense of loyalty to faith, family, and friends. Being born into poverty is seen as a badge of honor and rising out of this poverty is highly admired. Funny is it not, that President Trump was shot at in this very same Appalachian region of Pennsylvania. All the best to you good sir.

Mine as well but I wouldn’t put to much faith in these dna tests. My dna test says I’m 35 percent German but I’m not German,I’m English. And in case you’re wondering both parents took it too, so my parents are my parents.They compare your dna to modern populations in the area, Our ancestors left 400 years ago , lots of genetic changes in that time. My dna tests say I’m 52 percent English, 35 percent German and the rest Scandinavian. They really can’t differentiate Germanic dna in different populations very well on these sites.
This is something my mom and I have talked about a lot because we have deep Celtic roots as well as Germanic tribes so it’s nice to see someone else acknowledge trumps heritage because it absolutely shows to me.
I can't help but consider that it may be because The Donald's ancestry is so recently American that he is so viscerally American; while other presidents of founding stock have fallen comfortably and terribly into what America has unfortunately become, The Donald rises directly from that blood which originally built America in colonial and revolutionary times.

My family on my mother's father's (born in 1899) side descended from the Picts and was almost all Scott. They were forced out of Scottland and went to Canada. From Canada my great grandfather who spoke little English came to America and made his fortune in coal. They continued to marry other Scotts, and we are connected to the Wallaces. This Scotts became lawyers and dealt in the energy industry, and land development in California when land was cheap, so they quietly acquired wealth. They tried their hand at politics but realized they were better at working behind the scenes. My grandfather was a great man and my hero. He was a concert level pianist at the age of 12, he played the bagpipes, he could speak 7 different languages, he fought in WWI and WWII, he could fly a bi plane, expert horseman, a trained theater actor, and singer. During the depression when no one could find work he made big bucks working for the ultra-rich in the US as an entertainer at private estates around the US. I love trump's sense of humor and quick wit.
Really enjoyed this, as an American I have some of these ancestry too but not as concentrated (one side of my family does go back to the Dutch ship arriving after the Mayflower so I have some other ancestry in the mix.) Like a lot of Americans, my biggest heritage is German and British, it’s a good mix between the Anglo English, Irish and a bit of Scottish. So the fact that Trump’s a nice concentration of German and Scottish relates to a lot of American heritage, as well as some of the other Anglosphere countries ancestry is very relatable. Both have a culture of work ethics that has at least helped our nation prosper greatly and advanced very well. Many Americans have this deep love for the Scottish too, one of the few countries that has been so warm to us it’s refreshing. We also recognize such strength in both the culture and the people that is awe inspiring, definitely a trait Trump exhibiting at Butler Pennsylvania.

Scots are some of the most influential people in history like that of the Romans. Adam Smith the father of all capitalism was Scottish for example during these enlightenments described in the book. His thinkings were used in early debates of the forefathers in the US and such too as they'd referenced his book for helping construct the economics of the country. The Scots are ridiculously influential. I just want a return to the days when kids were enthusiastic to discover their roots and ancestors. This wasn't even that long ago. We used to have ethnic festivals in America for all the various European settlers who founded and built this country. That has gone away in the past 40 years and been replaced with Cinco De Mayo, Black Heritage and Asian Feativals. White Americans are the only people who can fix this and the first step is to embrace our heritage and culture and return to a time when we openly revered our ancestors.

I was astonished by that, and I came to learn that the community my dad and grandfather are from is almost purely Scottish in ancestry, with a handful of Irish and obviously some African and Native American. I love little isolated communities that naturally resist outbreeding. I’m glad to have a majority ancestry that I can celebrate, and that my blood remembers.

My family, along with many, many others, are largely descended from German, and Scots Irish immigrants. I share this ancestry with President Trump. Many people of this region still maintain a fierce sense of loyalty to faith, family, and friends. Being born into poverty is seen as a badge of honor and rising out of this poverty is highly admired. Mine as well but I wouldn’t put to much faith in these dna tests. My dna test says I’m 35 percent German but I’m not German,I’m English. And in case you’re wondering both parents took it too, so my parents are my parents.They compare your dna to modern populations in the area, Our ancestors left 400 years ago , lots of genetic changes in that time. My dna tests say I’m 52 percent English, 35 percent German and the rest Scandinavian. They really can’t differentiate Germanic dna in different populations very well on these sites.

My family on my mother's father's (born in 1899) side descended from the Picts and was almost all Scott. They were forced out of Scottland and went to Canada. From Canada my great grandfather who spoke little English came to America and made his fortune in coal. They continued to marry other Scotts, and we are connected to the Wallaces. This Scotts became lawyers and dealt in the energy industry, and land development in California when land was cheap, so they quietly acquired wealth. They tried their hand at politics but realized they were better at working behind the scenes. My grandfather was a great man and my hero. He was a concert level pianist at the age of 12, he played the bagpipes, he could speak 7 different languages, he fought in WWI and WWII, he could fly a bi plane, expert horseman, a trained theater actor, and singer. During the depression when no one could find work he made big bucks working for the ultra-rich in the US as an entertainer at private estates around the US.

Really enjoyed this, as an American I have some of these ancestry too but not as concentrated (one side of my family does go back to the Dutch ship arriving after the Mayflower so I have some other ancestry in the mix.) Like a lot of Americans, my biggest heritage is German and British, it’s a good mix between the Anglo English, Irish and a bit of Scottish. So the fact that Trump’s a nice concentration of German and Scottish relates to a lot of American heritage, as well as some of the other Anglosphere countries ancestry is very relatable. Both have a culture of work ethics that has at least helped our nation prosper greatly and advanced very well.
Many Americans have this deep love for the Scottish too, one of the few countries that has been so warm to us it’s refreshing. We also recognize such strength in both the culture and the people that is awe inspiring, definitely a trait Trump exhibiting at Butler Pennsylvania.

I'll add outside of the book I'm sure people here won't like it but even Freemasonry lodges started in Scotland by the Scots which had huge impacts obviously to the modern world. Scots are some of the most influential people in history like that of the Romans.
Adam Smith the father of all capitalism was Scottish for example during these enlightenments described in the book. His thinkings were used in early debates of the forefathers in the US and such too as they'd referenced his book for helping construct the economics of the country. The Scots are ridiculously influential. Awesome you have German too, I don't have to mention the influence of that bloodline obviously as it's vast and known but the Scots less known (or less pointed out?). Enjoy. :)

I'll summarize. Scots are very influential much like the Romans. Consider the first Free Mason lodges came from Scotland and have massive influence on civilization. You also have the works of Adam Smith who is the father of all capitalism. Adam Smith was even referenced/quoted when the founding fathers of the US debated on how to setup the economy. So on and so forth. You have every right to be proud of being Scottish, people have the idea of Scots but don't realize how intelligent and powerful they were on the upper echelons of society and the peak of civilization. Germans get a lot of credit for obvious reason, but the Scots are up there with civilization constructors.
Outside of that I said my ancestry is similar to yours, about half Welsh,Scot,Irish(?) with about half German and some other European bits and parts to fill of the remainder.

My mom came from the Isle of Barra and was of Norse-Gael ancestry. My dad came from Ayreshire. He was of Anglo-Norman ancestry. Scotland is indeed a Celto-Germanic nation.

That was great! Coming from the United States. I did my DNA several times from different companies! My father side had Mostly Irish DNA with some English And a little bit of Norse! My mother side with southern Italian and she had quite a bit of northern Italian in her genetics, although her family came from the south and she had quite a bit east Mediterranean, DNA, especially from Greece, which I’d love too. Love your shows! My dream is to win the lottery and research full time our genetics and history especially of my own because I cannot get enough of learning more about it! I just want a return to the days when kids were enthusiastic to discover their roots and ancestors. This wasn't even that long ago.
We used to have ethnic festivals in America for all the various European settlers who founded and built this country.
That has gone away in the past 40 years and been replaced with Cinco De Mayo, Black Heritage and Asian Feativals.
White Americans are the only people who can fix this and the first step is to embrace our heritage and culture and return to a time when we openly revered our ancestors.
Caring about genealogy and our Northern European roots seems genetic in my family at least. Ten generations removed from Germany and still very much connected

I really enjoyed this video, being that my father's parents & oldest sister immigrated to America from Dundee, Scotland back in the early 1920's. So I am very interested in my Scottish heritage.

It’s also the American spirit, which could be partly connected to the kinds of people who chose to brave the oceans and take wilderness in the new world. And I think it also emerged in the fighting for all that and overcoming immense odds to even be a country and then tame wilderness and land on the moon and become a manufacturing giant which will hopefully also be restored to some degree. Definitely can’t keep relying on enemies for manufacturing critical stuff.
We should be independent, but not isolationist which is another political enemy talking point. America is not and will not be that closed off. People should stop worrying, until 2028. Then, choose wisely.

@ Switzerland did not exist at that time, even when Switzerland was formed the Swiss Nobles were called „Swabian Nobles“ in documents such as the „Siebmachers Wappenrolle“ well into the early 16th century.
Its a whole complicated thing, cause Swiss isn’t Swiss. Being Swiss can mean several things: German, Italian, French.
When being a German Swiss, you are a „Alemanni“ the only problem with that Term is, that the „Alemanni“, of whom the Alsatians, the Voralberger in further Austria as well as the Swabians in modern day Baden-Wuerttemberg, are part of historically NEVER called themselves „Alemanni“ they called them selves after the „Suebi“ later „Swabians“.
So if we want to be very exact, the Habsburgs are Swabians, its not surprising, as after the downfall of the Hohenstaufen, the Habsburgs tried to reestablish the crumbling Duchy pf Swabia and tried to become the leading force in the German South-West. (Which several Houses, like the Counts of Württemberg as well as the Swiss confederation tried to deny them/stop them).
But the Swabian Title was so important to the Habsburgs, because they saw them selves as direct Heirs to the Hohenstaufen, as the Staufer Emperor Frederick II had been Rudolf of Habsburgs (the First Habsburg King) God-Father. And since now the Hohenstaufen were no more, the Habsburgs though it was their turn, so the Swabian Identity would definitely have played a big role for them.
We can see that reflect, in things such as the Habsburg Emperors denying the Counts of Württemberg the Title of „Duke of Swabia“ and „Duke in Swabia“ even though the Count basically held all the land of the former duchy and was as powerful as a Duke. Moreover Habsburg Rulers such as Frederick III ans Maximilian I held, among many other titles, the title of „Prince of Swabia“ or „Prince in Swabia“.
From a modern perspective, it is correct to assume they were Swiss, but historically, they would not have thought of themselves as such, especially because the Swiss confederation were one of their biggest enemies.

My father’s family came to America in 1730. My mother from England. My DNA reads 66% Scottish, 38% English. I have such strong Scottish DNA even after 300 years. Amazing. BTW my son is an Engineer, my father an Architect as was my grandfather. Totally agree it gets passed down.

My wife’s ancestors didn’t come on the Mayflower, they came on the next ship after. My ancestors came from the Netherlands in 1847 so I’m a newcomer according to her😅
