    Everything about this video is so amazing Eric. Maybe your best video yet when it comes to the grand scheme of things for singers who know what they are doing, but could use a reminder of the vastness of their instrument when it comes to style and intention and specific goals in different types of vocal opportunities. Thank You. Wow.

      To offer “…a reminder of the vastness of their instrument” was precisely my goal. So well said! And thank you! 🙏🏽

    Eric! You should take it to the streets! Meet decent singing people record your interactions and in a 15min-20min session teach them what their voice can do! (On hand honey, lemon, hot water/tea)
    My daughter sings beautifully & sounds magical... but when it comes to expressing anger or frustration she does NOT think she can. If she had 20mins. with someone like you she'd be belting those lyrics like they're meant to be conveyed.
    It could be the start of a new creation for you. You are very capable & friendly. Your sub count is awesome, built in audience!
    Keep teaching & learning! Love your work🗣️

    You are so awesome! I think I keep saying this, but I can’t help but be blown away by your explanations and your lessons. I am a singer with a beautiful tone…I’m told. My journey is to become a better singer and keep touching people with my music. I’m with a jazz band in SF (Bay Area)at the moment and am very open to learn. Thank you, Eric for being on RUclips🙌🏾❤️

    I feel like when i bring my tone forward (because people say im blocking it by singing from the back of my throat), i lose support. Maybe this is a support issue i need to work on, and it's separate from where we place our voice.
    At this point my brain is mush by trying to incorporate good breath support,lower larynx, trying to decide where to place my voice, play the guitar at the same time and have people expect me to be able to harmonize on the spot 💀
    I am thankful for you shining light on so many questions and complications ive come across when it comes to singing ❤

    Hey Eric is it possible to develop a tone like Mariah Carey’s? It seems like that would be extremely difficult to attain.

    • @ericarceneaux
      @ericarceneaux  3 месяца назад +11

      It’s possible. But I never encourage singers to copy someone else’s signature tone, unless they’re specifically doing so for an acting role. As magnificent as Mariah’s instrument is, let’s not rob the world of your unique voice 🙏🏽🥹

      @@ericarceneaux thank you. I have learned pretty much everything from you for about 10 years now. I remember the leg stretch breathing exercises. I even breathe differently now thanks to you. My stomach no longer expands when inhaling all thanks to your extremely helpful exercises.

    Eric ,how much of this is really just going to the right place emotionally when you perform? Seems like your psychology takes you where you need to go at least 50? 100? %

    • @ericarceneaux
      @ericarceneaux  3 месяца назад +1

      Your psychology definitely takes there at the time of performance. We call it “The Reflex to Express”-your body naturally adjusts to your emotional intent in communicating. As a professional singer though, this emotional accessibility has to be supported by a solid technique, for the sake of *healthily* producing the tones in a way that you can replicate on command. Also, as is the case with my Broadway clients who do the same show every day for months on end, sometimes you’re just not authentically feeling that emotion; but you still have to be able to utilize a mechanical understanding to give the audience a great show (and to keep your job 😅).

    I don't think either example (the churchy voice vs the other voice) u gave are bad. I think their are just different vocal styles. But it's more about how u r using it. I think that's also what you're saying

    • @ericarceneaux
      @ericarceneaux  3 месяца назад +2

      That’s exactly what I’m saying; I personally don’t believe in “bad” tones. There are unhealthily produced tones and stylistically inappropriate tones, but what’s palatable to the ears of any individual listener will vary greatly from person to 🤷🏽‍♂️

    I’m having problem with my nasally voice do you any suggestion for it ?

    Hey Eric, I have a question. My problem is that I can usually go to a E4 or F4 (chest voice) but I feel like i am really straining up there and I don’t really know how to get rid of unwanted throat tension and I also don’t know when or how to enter my mixed voice. I’ve watched your video on tension under chin but I am not sure if I fully managed to get rid of it and I am not sure if I am supporting my breath correctly although I feel my lower abs and the solar plexus activating. Do you have any tips, will everything become better with consistency or should I see a vocal coach? Thanks :)

    • @ericarceneaux
      @ericarceneaux  3 месяца назад +1

      While those notes should certainly remain quite “chesty”, there definitely needs to be some mixing happening. Otherwise, strain is likely to occur-no matter how good you are. Also, you’re missing some elements in your understanding of support. It’s hard to break down everything in a RUclips comment section 😅, which is why I teach one-on-one lessons and have a Patreon with much more detailed videos on all this. But, for now, at least check out this video; I think it’ll help 👉🏽 ruclips.net/video/tDesMYfNopE/видео.htmlsi=PgbsBy5HkQ0hUp6h
