I still remember commercials and advertisements on thr TV and i think news outlets talking about the movie before its release. I was in an all-Boys boarding high school and every weekend night we would watch Movies or Football (Soccer) if there was a live match. We watched almost exclusively Action, Horror and Fantasy Violence movies. Someone brought After Earth and we were conflicted. He said that it has Will Smith and Jaden Smith and we were all on board. After the movie ended, we walked out Unanimously agreeing that the movie was garbage. We never watched another Sci-Fi Movie again apart from Interceptor Force 2 but that was because it had Horror elements lol

After earth was good I watched it after everyone said it was trash and was wondering why, if they dropped the animated stuff first it might’ve hit better. The only people in the film was them and I don’t think people liked that. The story and quality of the movie was overshadowed by everything else that was going on. I feel really bad for Jaden because I feel like I relate a LOT to these talented kids like Macaulay Culkin and Jaden but my parents were smart enough to NOT make me a star and put me in a huge light at a young age to traumatize me. My dad was great at sports and I ended up being slightly better and taking martial arts young. I found it hard to make friends growing up but I realized it wasn't me and the others are only lost but not intentionally mean to me. They were only scared and ignorant. My parents saw early I had the physical prowess of my dad and the intelligence of my mother and it scared them!
