You are a beast. I have to admit I do feel a little bad about giving you some grief in the following days about not wanting to ride more 😂 So glad you are ok and looking forward to our July ride!

Dude I had the same injury last year in Greece. But I also broke my left foot toe. Although it was a road bike and the road. I slipped riding like 10mph on a white line and the bike fell on my leg.
However, the worst part was we only had 2 more days in Greece and we needed to head back. The buddy tried convincing me to send the bike and travel by plane, but I'm insane apparently. Went to DR the night before we needed to go, gave the guy 20 euros to make me a cast so I can scoop my shifter with it so I can ride back. It's 500 mile single day trip back since I had to be back a day earlier due to work. Highways as much as we could though so I didn't have to shift as much. The first half of the day was extremely hot and my leg hurt, but the second half was the biggest storm in our country that year. I rode without a shoe in a cast that fell apart from pulling and stomping the shifter. Man what a relief that rain was. The roads were flooded, it was cold but but splashing the water on top of my leg it cooled it and made it 1000 times better. Worst ride of my life, but I always smile when I remember it due to the sheer amount of stupidity and bad decisions... :D

Bummer to hear man. I once cracked a few ribs and was out of commission for about 6 weeks during prime riding season. It was depressing. Hope you heal quickly and can get back on the bike soon!

If you ride long enough it'll happen. It's a matter when you'll have an off with a sustained injury, not if. Riding is a numbers game, eventually the house wins, we all just hope that when they do happen they are small off's with minor injuries only. I have ribs that hurt when it gets cold, a wrist that never stops clicking, a shoulder with limited rage of motion and a knee that crunches and pops like it has rice crispy's inside of it all thanks in full to different motor bike accidents/offs. Glad to hear that your break was minor, just make sure you get back on that bike once you're healed up and continue along with your journey on two wheels.

    Get well soon!
Do you think a steering damper would have helped?
I once went off the side of a cliff for a similar reason.. my KTM525 was hanging from a tree :D

Just found your channel 2 days ago. I don't suppose this would be a good time to ask if you wanted to go riding sometime? You're like my twin, same bikes, cars, same height lol. Well brother I will pray for a speedy recovery and hope to see you on the trails.

Honestly your ridding boot is probably the best splint in the field until you can get medical help. I did the same skiing. It seems its always the casual moments that get us injured and we escape the oh sh#* moments unscathed. Heal fast man!

The boot is as long as you don’t have a compound fracture, compartment syndrome, hemorrhaging etc. checked my capillary response time also. Glad it wasn’t any worse too, thanks man!

I've had my leg looking like that twice, but didn't have health insurance or really any extra money and so I never did get any kind of x-ray or whatever. It was fine after a few months. Just saying... If anyone hurts themselves like this, you can save the coin on the hospital bills and spend it on your bike. Unless you need a plate or screws don't bother.

I understand your situation but advocating for others to just let it ride is the worst advice you can give.
What happens if someone develops a blood clot? Well at least you got the new exhaust? Lots of things can go wrong best to not give that kind of advice.
