They do stick the landing well but I feel Book 2 was overall better. There weren’t really any wasted episodes. Really the only truly weak one to me was the cave one. And Ba Sing Se arc was amazing with so many elements to it. Book 3 I felt had a very shaky first half. There were some really strong episodes in the first half but a lot of throwaway type ones that felt like we were back in season 1. But Day of the Black Sun to the end were a good run.
And here I prefer infinity war, half blood prince book (order of the Phoenix is best movie). I can see where ur coming from tho considering they all had good satisfying endings
Emo is the little crap which act as if nobody loved her/him and needs attention. Toph doesn't give a shit about that, she just acts as she wants, and the biggest difference with an emo is that she is a badass
Hugh Jass avatar is honestly the breaking bad of animation and yes I’m even including anime and this is coming from a guy that’s watched probably almost 100s of anime’s
I think its position of being right before the final episodes makes it less enjoyable, it was a very silly episode when it should have been building to the finale.
That was always one of my favorites as a kid! It might feel silly being surrounded by serious episodes before the finale but you have to remember this shows target demographic is kids (even though everyone loves it) so it makes sense to have some funny moments in book 3.
Actually, that was the episode before Day of the Black Sun. Ember Island Players was the episode before the finale, and I think it was needed. The finale was so intense that there had to be a buffer episode to ease things a little
@@houston3103 It was meant to be a more silly episode to show how Aang, a 12 year old child, was dealing with all the stress of leading an invasion on the most powerful nation in the world at that time. You also have to remember, that the plan for the invasion was to have Aang defeat the firelord, which would end the war. So, not only is he leading the invasion, but he also has the added weight of ending a 100 year long war. It makes sense that it was a silly and childish episode. Aang had so many reasons to be stressed and worried, and he's not even a teenager yet.
My 3 favorite things about Book 2 are probably 1. Zuko’s and Iroh’s development. We really get to learn about these characters, as they are my favorites. 2: Adding Toph and Azula 3. Like Movieflame said, the exploration of the world. I really enjoyed seeing Ba Sing Se. So yeah, I pretty much agree with everything he said.
100% agree. I also loved how this season really showed how close Appa and Aang are and how important Appa is. This season would’ve probably been only 15 episodes long if Appa was around.
Honestly I think both Nightmares episode and the painted lady episode are so underrated and underappreciated. The nightmares episode dealt with anxiety and stress, something we all have (albeit they did in a humorous way), and also we got a breather before several heavy episodes. The painted lady episode not only showed how not all people in the Fire nation are bad, but also that they're too are victims of the war. It showed how Firelord's invasion didn't only hurt those people he invaded, but also those people whom he's supposed to protect and take care of. It's really sad how many people miss the point and consider them as wasted episodes. :\
*MY TOP 5 FAVE EPISODES* (in no order) 1. The Headband 2. Nightmares and Daydreams 3. The Fortune-Teller 4. The Cave of Two Lovers 5. Appa's Lost Days *THE HEADBAND* I really liked this episode because Aang goes to the fire nation school, and gets the kids there to loosen up. Also, the dance scene was great and I love the new fire nation outfits! *NIGHTMARES AND DAYDREAMS* Ok, I might be the only one who likes this episode but it was HILARIOUS! Plus, I can relate to it! Whenever I'm having anxiety, It takes me longer to fall asleep and I start freaking out. But I don't have hallucinations.. XD *THE FORTUNE-TELLER* This is such a great episode! I think it's good because we get to see Aang starting to love Katara, And the ending was amazing. *THE CAVE OF TWO LOVERS* Again, since I'm a Kataang shipper, This episode had to be on my list. Also, _TWO LOVERS, FORBIDDEN FROM ONE ANOTHER~ A WAR DIVIDES THEIR PEOPLE~ AND A MOUNTAIN DIVIDES THEM APART~ BUILT A PATH TO BE TOGETHER......_ *SECRET TUNNEL!* *APPA'S LOST DAYS* This episode was so emotional for me, and it makes me cry every time I watch it. Especially when Appa flashes back to when Aang first got him. BABY APPA IS SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for reading! If you agree with me on some of these episodes, leave a like! If not... Then ignore me! I hate starting fights on youtube. Bye!
6:28, I don't agree with this statement, specially when it comes to daydreams and nightmares. It shows how deeply Aang's mind is torn for not knowing what to do with the fire Lord, it even helps at the finally when Aang still refuses to kill him. As for the painted Lady it shows world building as we learn how advenced and yet retrograde the fire nation is. But I think everyone will agree that the lion turtles should had been introduced earlier.
He was done with his dad and his past mistakes, so his scar meant to him as a symbol of his father's brutality and him standing up for it instead of a mark of dishonor and disgrace he thought of himself in book 1. That's why he was interested in healing the scar in book 2 while didn't care about it much even if he had the means later
I have to say, the next episode covering anything Avatar has to be a character study of Jong Jong, aka The Deserter. How he became involved in the White Lotus, how we escaped the Fire Nation each time, etc.
Zuko alone is just pure brilliance. I wish more TV series can have episodes like this where it focus on one character and we see their entire life story. Gives us more understanding to their character
I am so happy you have reached such a high level of youtube content as now. I was subscribed from 300,000 subs and you're getting better and better as time passes. You're amazing and I'm a huge fan of you and your content!😀 KEEP IT UP MORGAN!
In Zuko is alone I went from enjoying the series to thinking "Yeah, this is a damn good series" and then I got to Tales of Ba Sin Sae and thought "Oh my God, I love this show. Ita making me feel things".
Avatar was masterful in subverting expectations in the right way. Every time you thought you knew what was going to happen you turned out to be wrong, but it was always so much better than what you had thought and added depth and realism to the story. Truly one of the best shows of all time.
Appa getting captured was also great because it broke some of the repetitiveness in book 1's formula while impacting both Aang and the audience emotionally.
Why Book 2 Is The Best: - Ba Sing Se - Toph - Azula - Zuko's Character Arc - Lightning Bending - The Ba Sing Se Goverment and its secrets - Story Telling - Mai and Ty Lee - Iroh's Advice - All places (The desert, The Library, Ba Sing Se, etc.) - Appa - The Library and the desert - Sokka's Cactus Juice - The Drill Episode - Metal Bending Comment if you think I missed something and I'll add it to the list! :D
Wow I truly love your video essays. I can actually tell you put energy in them and that you actually took a lot of time to make sure you did your research. Also thank you for these videos, they make my day.
Ba Sing Se was my favorite place that the group stayed in because i remember being so hopeful as a child because it was “safe” and then we get there and Long Feng is like “it is the strict policy that the war not be mentioned within the walls”
I watched this show in my 30's when Netflix had it around 2010. A friend of mine told me about it because his son watched it and he watched it with him. I don't watch Nickelodeon and I don't watch kiddy shows. I said screw it, let's give it try. Make a long story short, this show is in my top 5 favorite tv shows of all time and the only animated show in my top 20. Book 2 is also my favorite book. This is not just a kid show!
The dreems episode was needed and a good episode since it showed how Ang had PTSD from his failing at ba sing say and how he was stressed for the rematch
Just love the Star Wars reference. I've never thought of that before, or how great book two is compared to the rest of the show. However, I do love the dynamic between the characters after Zuko joins the group.
In my opinion, season 3 was the best because it had so much to do just like what he said. Season 3 isn’t dragged down just because they had to do all this stuff, these episodes in season 3 are really fantastic
In my opinion Toph is my favorite character in the whole series She is just sooo incredible she created metal bending, she’s blind and is the best earth bending She’s just amazing
I agree with you for the most part about Book II. The quality of the stories that were introduced were extraordinary. However, one of my favorite episode's was "The Puppetmaster" where the gang were still in the Fire Nation and they were introduced to Hama who was from the Southern Water Tribe, like Katara and Soka. We were introduced to Bloodending and taught it to Katara, only to have Katara use it on her to stop Hama's revenge on The Fire Nation town she was living in, undercover. Maybe Hama was the creator of Bloodbending and was an ancestor of Amon who was Korra's first nemesis in Korra's avatar series. I am assuming, this episode was in Book III. This series is just one of the most incredible of all time.
I liked the episode Nightmares and Daydreams, it had many references to other media like how Aang was dressed as Goku from Dragonball Z, Vash the Stampede and how Momo was dressed as Miyamoto Usagi. Momo and Appa's fight was just so cool and funny at the same time, hearing them talk was also cool as Dee Bradley Baker used Spidermonkey voice for Momo and Cannonbolt voice for Appa from Ben 10 series. Also this episode pays homages to several movies such as The Lord of the Rings, The Ring, The Grudge, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and several other fantasy and dream-related movies. Aang even did the Naruto run. That episode was very good for those purposes and for conquering fear and anxiety.
I mean not rlly it was a good ending but everything kinda just worked out. Aang won, Zuko became Fire Lord, All the relationships worked out, the Earth nation was saved, etc... The Fire Lord was defeated but alive. The only rlly good part was Azula’s mental breakdown. I prefer an ending like FMAB where Al got his body back, but Ed lost his alchemy. Father was defeated, but Hohenheim had a fitting but also quite sad death. Ling leant then secret of immortality, but lost Greed. In addition, we really get to see what Ed and Al learned about science and Alchemy and how the journey changed not only their current state but their actual views on the world. That doesn’t even include the great buildup to the finale or the satisfying endings for Scar, Mustang, the Armstrongs, and even Selim. TL;DR: Avatar’s ending was great but was a bit too basic for me, which keeps it short of a perfect ending
Turtle Ex Machina lol. Seriously, though, it's just too convenient in the way that Aang almost doesn't have to do anything to figure out the way to deal with Ozai. This is partly a matter of preference, but I also don't like how it turned out well for all. Like what Arjuna Bazaz said, I would've preferred a bittersweet ending, though I understand that since this is a (Western) kid show, a happy-ever-after ending is expected. Don't get me wrong, ATLA is still a great show, but the ending isn't the best part of it IMO.
Can we PLEASE get a “life of Aang” video!!!! I refuse to watch LOK lmao update: I watched it and it’s hated on too much haha but still want a life of Aang video
Its crazy, I was thinking about this an hour before watching this. I was stuck between season 2 and 3. Thanks for reminding me why season 2 was my favorite season!
I absolutely love the Ba Sing Se arc. Always been my favorite part of the series with the mystery and action. First bit has some good episodes like the Return to Omashu. But really become perfect from the Library episode onward. Like season 3 a lot and all the big events but feel the Ba Sing Se arc was the peak of the series.
Book 1: Introducing the characters, world and goal
Book 2: Developing the world, characters and stakes. Dealing with the complexity of the story

Prisoner of Azkaban is the best HP movie
Len Walker many think so and I agree it’s a masterpiece but it’s just not my favorite
@@atribecalledlen3567 My favorite always has been The Goblet of Fire, but PoA is really good too
Bruh toph ain't emo. She's more of a tomb boy
Emo is the little crap which act as if nobody loved her/him and needs attention. Toph doesn't give a shit about that, she just acts as she wants, and the biggest difference with an emo is that she is a badass
Lmaooooo “tomb boy”
So she is a mummy????
She’s a tomb boy she really does look like a mummy
Facts 💯💯
My favorite episode was Tales of Ba Sing Se. I cried when Iroh sing to his son 😭😭
I could watch this show so many times!!!
It's on Netflix now so you can.

When Appa went missing I felt like I lost a family member
How Nightmares and Day Dreams is a weak episode?!? It has the best fight in any animation in history! Momo vs Appa
I think its position of being right before the final episodes makes it less enjoyable, it was a very silly episode when it should have been building to the finale.
I guess Morgan wasn't prepared for maths exam.
My 3 favorite things about Book 2 are probably
1. Zuko’s and Iroh’s development. We really get to learn about these characters, as they are my favorites.
2: Adding Toph and Azula
3. Like Movieflame said, the exploration of the world. I really enjoyed seeing Ba Sing Se.
So yeah, I pretty much agree with everything he said.
I agree with all who you say.
100% agree. I also loved how this season really showed how close Appa and Aang are and how important Appa is. This season would’ve probably been only 15 episodes long if Appa was around.
Anyone: mentions zuko's redemption
Me: starts crying
Honestly I think both Nightmares episode and the painted lady episode are so underrated and underappreciated. The nightmares episode dealt with anxiety and stress, something we all have (albeit they did in a humorous way), and also we got a breather before several heavy episodes. The painted lady episode not only showed how not all people in the Fire nation are bad, but also that they're too are victims of the war. It showed how Firelord's invasion didn't only hurt those people he invaded, but also those people whom he's supposed to protect and take care of.
It's really sad how many people miss the point and consider them as wasted episodes. :\
Tales of Ba Sing Se, Crossroads of Destiny, Zuko Alone, The Blind Bandit. So many good episodes
After this rewatch I was just saying that book 2 became my favorite. Even thou my favorite episode is in Book 3. (avatar & the fire lord)
Arah Davis Avatar and the Firelord is one of my absolute favorite episodes. It’s so underrated imo
Same, but I still prefer book 3
... did this dude just call Toph's personality "emo-like"
Yeah snarky maybe but not emo 😂😂

I just finished rewatching the series again. And now I’m searching all of RUclips for these quality video essays about it.
*MY TOP 5 FAVE EPISODES* (in no order)
1. The Headband
2. Nightmares and Daydreams
3. The Fortune-Teller
4. The Cave of Two Lovers
5. Appa's Lost Days
*THE HEADBAND*
I really liked this episode because Aang goes to the fire nation school, and gets the kids there to loosen up. Also, the dance scene was great and I love the new fire nation outfits!
*NIGHTMARES AND DAYDREAMS*
Ok, I might be the only one who likes this episode but it was HILARIOUS! Plus, I can relate to it! Whenever I'm having anxiety, It takes me longer to fall asleep and I start freaking out. But I don't have hallucinations.. XD
*THE FORTUNE-TELLER*
This is such a great episode! I think it's good because we get to see Aang starting to love Katara, And the ending was amazing.
*THE CAVE OF TWO LOVERS*
Again, since I'm a Kataang shipper, This episode had to be on my list. Also,
_TWO LOVERS, FORBIDDEN FROM ONE ANOTHER~ A WAR DIVIDES THEIR PEOPLE~ AND A MOUNTAIN DIVIDES THEM APART~ BUILT A PATH TO BE TOGETHER......_ *SECRET TUNNEL!*
*APPA'S LOST DAYS*
This episode was so emotional for me, and it makes me cry every time I watch it. Especially when Appa flashes back to when Aang first got him. BABY APPA IS SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for reading! If you agree with me on some of these episodes, leave a like! If not... Then ignore me! I hate starting fights on youtube. Bye!

Guys chill out I was trying to generalise the duration lol
It makes me emotional when I think about how good this show is
Same
6:28, I don't agree with this statement, specially when it comes to daydreams and nightmares.
That's why I think book 3 is the best
I want to ask why zuko didnt heal his scar after the series ended?
While he can heal it with the magic spirit water?
I’d like to think he kept the scar to remind himself of how far he’s come
He was done with his dad and his past mistakes, so his scar meant to him as a symbol of his father's brutality and him standing up for it instead of a mark of dishonor and disgrace he thought of himself in book 1. That's why he was interested in healing the scar in book 2 while didn't care about it much even if he had the means later

Can you make a video of the life of prince Zuko
I have to say, the next episode covering anything Avatar has to be a character study of Jong Jong, aka The Deserter. How he became involved in the White Lotus, how we escaped the Fire Nation each time, etc.
Zuko alone is just pure brilliance. I wish more TV series can have episodes like this where it focus on one character and we see their entire life story. Gives us more understanding to their character
Is it weird that i'm a 30 year old guy and still watches this show and loves it's more every time?

I love your Avatar videos. They are the best (in my opinion) keep up the good work.
That’s why I like book 2 the most. Book 3 became too predictable after the Black Sun invasion
The Boulder is grateful a fan made a video about the season he made his first glorious appearance.
"Leaves of the vine" from iroh is enough reason for me
Season one episode x (any episode) begins:
Sokka: In terms of *food* we have no *food*
Underrated comment
Appa getting captured was also great because it broke some of the repetitiveness in book 1's formula while impacting both Aang and the audience emotionally.
I can agree with this but when book 3 first started airing man that was a moment unparalleled
I'm so glad people make essays I'd just be stuck waiting months and years for new shows
I finished rewatching the Series yesterday and i can only agree that Book 2 is the best😁
Why Book 2 Is The Best:
- Ba Sing Se
- Toph
- Azula
- Zuko's Character Arc
- Lightning Bending
- The Ba Sing Se Goverment and its secrets
- Story Telling
- Mai and Ty Lee
- Iroh's Advice
- All places (The desert, The Library, Ba Sing Se, etc.)
- Appa
- The Library and the desert
- Sokka's Cactus Juice
- The Drill Episode
- Metal Bending
Comment if you think I missed something and I'll add it to the list! :D
-That cliffhanger at the end
-The Chase
What happened to the Aang as a father video? :(
Great job with the videos my man, always enjoy hearing your viewpoints on the show!
I still want them to animate book 4 where Zuko & Azula find their mom
Love your vids can't stop watching your channel is so good ✋👍😃
In my opinion Toph is my favorite character in the whole series
She is just sooo incredible she created metal bending, she’s blind and is the best earth bending
She’s just amazing
Avatar is such a great show
I like the whole overall series in general. For me I like season one. The whole introduction to the overall series was incredible
Toph was WAY to charismatic to be considered "Emo-Like", the rest of the video is spot on tho.
If only netflix made a HD remake of avatar instead of a live action
Another great analysis video MovieFlame.
I appreciate these videos man.
Good point but idk book 3 will always be the best for me 🔥🔥

Your channel is amazing keep up the good work
I liked the episode Nightmares and Daydreams, it had many references to other media like how Aang was dressed as Goku from Dragonball Z, Vash the Stampede and how Momo was dressed as Miyamoto Usagi.
BOOK 3 US MY FAVORETE
Oh how I wish they would being this show back either continue on the avatar cycle or return to aang
I haven’t watched you since Harry Potter videos from 2 years ago. Good on you for reaching 1 mil bro. Well deserved
Its insane, how good this show is!
How can you call it a “solid ending?” That finale was by far the best show finale ever!! P.S. Great Vid!!!
Wonderful insight! MovieFlame, you've done it again!
Book 2 is also my favourite season
And Zuko alone is my favourite episode
I like book 3 cause awkward zuko there...
Hello zuko here 👋
He is so cute when he is awkward xD
I absolutely love the Ba Sing Se arc. Always been my favorite part of the series with the mystery and action. First bit has some good episodes like the Return to Omashu. But really become perfect from the Library episode onward. Like season 3 a lot and all the big events but feel the Ba Sing Se arc was the peak of the series.
“Because with the new characters, it’s fresh and new”
