Fire Towers are an amazing part of our National Forest's history. I doubt i'll pull it off, but I want to try and go to all 176 of them that are left in Idaho. I still can't believe you can actually book them and stay with your friends. Talk about a view... every single one is uniquely positioned to see a long way. If you have been wondering what to do for your next adventure, or first overland trip... go check out a fire lookout.

One of my accomplishments. I became a paid lookout in SW Oregon. I worked in four different towers over the years.
Thats awesome... I bet you have some stories from that time.
That's fantastic, basically my dream job. Some of the older Rangers I work with used to do that, but they've pretty much all been shut down.
Damn thats the dream, how did u make it happen?
Anybody want to go to a fire lookout now?
We do!
Yes please!
Can’t believe you made this video! 😂👌. My friend and I have had an expedition planned for the one out by Mt. Baker soon. Was supposed to leave for it this Summer but it got postponed… 😔. One of the coolest adventures! Can’t wait.
Just visited a fire lookout this weekend (Boucher Hill Lookout Tower). Not as remote as yours but still awesome!
Im off to America in 4 days from england and i think im going to have to go there do you have coordants for the mountain and do you know how long a drive from Richmond t9 ohio
My son and I are slowly making it to the Idaho fire towers. Always a great adventure.
Thats awesome... I want to try and go to all of them... but it seems like a crazy goal..... So I guess I better get started 🤷♂️
Much success and health to all. It's great you have 3 kids and your partner.
Love this! I really appreciate your approach to these videos and for showing us Idaho! I’ve spent some time in McCall and the CDA area and every time the state just wow’s me!
I am constantly in awe of the Northwest… so many amazing places
Knew it was my home, love Idaho!
This is now one of my goals once I get to America. It looks absoluetly AMAZING!!!
It is one of my favorite views...
Totally bananas man. What an awesome lookout. Let’s go find some cool stuff together.
I’m in!
You. Are. A. Legend.
Trinity Mountain. Been there several times. Awesome place.
That is just amazing
Beautiful scenery My Man. Thank You
Thanks for watching. I really was blown away. It is beautiful up there.
Great video.
Thanks for the gorgeous video.
I've only been in the dirt and trees in Ellenville NY, where we went as kids. Our parents rented a bungalow in a bungalow community for a few years. My dad's friends had bungalows there.
I never went major hiking like you. Just walking in a nature preserve or local park short trail.
Wow! Beautiful video and it's soo soo Awesome that you can have an experience like that with your family. Your yardstick & soul quote had the hook set deep & pulling on my heart. I live in Wisconsin & I'm starting to put together an extended trip to the NW US next summer with my truck camper & UTV, covering Oregon, Washington, & Idaho. Thank you for bringing the fire lookout towers to my attention as a destination.
Hope you have a great trip. If you're going to Washington coast go to kalaloch in onp to camp on the beach. Olympic national park is stunning make sure to book your spot 6 months in advance if fills up quickly.
@@collinbean2253 Thank you & I will definitely check those locations out.
We have gone to several fire towers in Virginia and West Virginia. They are definitely cool. Going to have to check out where on the east coast ou can stay in one.
Been to a couple on the good old XT250. Very fun and worthwhile trips.
Was a fire lookout years ago. Palomar Mtn. Ca.
Most beautiful post here at RUclips 👍💯👍
It is a beautiful place 🙌
Great video I really enjoyed it. My daughter is in Washington state at Mount Rainier teaching biology. I sent her this video so that she could get the book and the reservation information. I’m sure she will put this on her bucket list. Again thanks for the video. I love seeing little ones out in nature with their parents. We live on the east coast and took our daughters a few years ago to the black foothills of South Dakota and we took the Can-Am out to custards overlook.
I have been wanting to got to the black hills for a while… it looks amazing.
And I thought they grew potatoes in Idaho.
We do that too
Care for Alan!
Oh, I've been there. must have been 8, 10 years ago now. Took a couple of moments to be sure I wasn't crazy lol
Drone Shots definitely give a different perspective than walking up. Didn't think of it but it is also probably confusing because the shots from inside a lookout are from a different one in Northern Idaho. They were just the only shots I have close up of a Fire finder...
I need these coordinates please and thank you
Dad I saw you kinda stumble with the daughter on your shoulders could be a good crash helmet would be a good idea. I say this because it happened to my son while on my shoulders it lift a scare on his forehead he had to carry the rest of his life . Things like that make adad feel like a worm the rest of there lives trust me .Happy trails we do enjoy the travels looking forward to more in the snow.
The blue Honda Fit was awesome, probably has more dirt miles on it than most built rigs. Although I have a Taco with some modern gadgets I honestly miss my old ratty XJ, that’s why I’ll be building up a 93 Explorer for wheeling and overlanding. It’s quirky, different…plus why not? It’s hard to not want more or the next shiny thing but my best times were in my white 87 XJ with brown tweed interior. All I took was some basic tools/recovery gear and my backpacking stuff to “car camp”. I felt like a million bucks when I could carry an ice chest and normal camp stove. There are some cool rigs out there but I feel like people tend lose track of their goals too. It’s kind of fun to do more with less.
I was pretty happy when I saw that car. It's just a good reminder, like you said. I have a few friends that still run XJs... actually have two on the property... still love how those look.
They’re a great size and they definitely look sweet, an early 90s one would be nice but I probably wouldn’t buy a 87-89 RENIX again. JEEP…just everybody else’s parts! And that’s definitely true with the 80s stuff lol. The H.O. 4.0 and AX15 is hard to beat.
Hi man. Nice video.
So why is RUclips not blocking the comments section on your channel?
Like the outdoors boys Channel ( I recommend it) ? You know ... If you have children in video , you get blocked comments.
I have custody of,my youngest daughter who is defiant to the T.
Thumbs up👆👆👆👆
Where in Idaho?
My dad was an auto mechanic for many well known race drivers. I drove a quarter midget from age 8 to 14.
The can am looks like it would great fun to drive.
I only drove a scooter for a few hours in 1993 in Jamaica.
I sadly life in a really flat country
I'm Sorry.
Cool video but cmon man if ya went out there why not go inside of it!
Depends on the towers. Some you can... some you cant. If you watch the full video I have shots from inside a different one we have been to. it still had the c "Fire Finder" tool that they use for figuring out exactly where the fire is. ruclips.net/video/eVdNJAffMDw/видео.html
