- Amar Bhushan, once the number 2 man of R&AW, handling the counter espionage unit of the intelligence agency began to suspect that a member of the agency was passing information to the CIA. The suspect was a former army major who rose to head the south East Asia desk. Rumours spread in the agency that the suspect - Rabinder Singh, had begun to get curious about the other operations that the agency was involved in. Determined to get to the bottom of it, Amar Bhushan led a surveillance team to monitor the suspect, at times even risking his job for national security.

Somewhere I felt that bhushan ji was defending the minute incompetencies of the finest of institutions have in our country. I think we have to accept them and try to work out how to reduce such incompetent people from reputed and highly sensitive institutions.
there is need for a science of spycraft. it would probably come in the form of applied mathematics, robotics, etc. Then there could be spycraft schools, and people could do BSc(Spy), MSc(Spy), PhD(Spy), etc. Till that happens, it will remain in the domain of personal judgement and subjective reasons.

That's what came to my mind in last few minutes, but you know people are mot ready to take blame and just find excuses. He is a top level officer doesn't mean he can think widely or out of the box. Mostly government employees are like this, they're not appreciated for their creativity and are praised to be a good boy who government give biscuit.

rabindra escaped but later killed in foreign nation , most probably CIA themselves dropped him or RAW gave him sweet pill

This actually clearly episode shows the incompetence of raw and our intelligence.
The retd.RAW officer actually said that you can say anything from a civilians perspective but from their perspective they have a perfect system and they have investigate according to their perfect system, note he also added how he(Rabindr Singh) got in to such big position through a political connection and both the narrators shyed away from saying under whose government this spy espionage happened, sad reality is this is actually what happens when doors are opened from inside lots of people carrier get destroyed wether they are involved directly or indirectly...

As it was UPA's government during which this espionage and failure had happened, it is not so surprising. It clearly looks like a well planned and deliberate effort to make all this happen. How a mediocre major from the army reaches to the position of joint secretary that even in RA&W! This explains everything. They have left no opportunity to sell/loot this country. But there is certainly some "POWER" which is protecting Bharat from the evils of the world!🙏

Oh really... UPA came into power in May 2004. Do u mean to say he was a mole only from May to December when he fled the country? Don't just politicize the issue. They were also caught sleeping at the time of Kargil.

@@wreckhomedeck8456 Rabinder Singh joined RAW in early 1990. INC was in power from 91 to 96. 1996 to 2004 BJP was in power. So it cannot be said he got support from his political masters INC or UPA. My whole point is it was a failure of intelligence agencies.

I don't understand how rabinder singh went away even when he was being watched, I personally think this was the biggest failure. I don't blame Amar bhusan but I am of the opinion he speaks and reason well. Another thing, Amar bhusan ji told he never went to IB because he had enough resource, I don't agree with him.
