Charlotte was (a bit nasal) mezzo-soprano. And with all the respect for her, Diana is imo most talented.
@@falseflaag I don't think She is a mezzo based on everything I know and the pitches and tones used on Delain. I also not dare to speak about talent once it's not right to compare
@@augustohenrique547 As for me she had lower voice while Diana's is higher - and most of sites call her "mezzo".
Of course, vocal range is often difficult to determine by ear only and a lot depends on how someone uses the voice - maybe Charlotte is somewhere on the border. Just recently saw the discussion of people arguing whether Sharon den Adel is a soprano and many claimed that she's... a mezzo !! (for me a lyric soprano - and comparing to her, Charlotte is mezzo for sure).
Not to diminish Diana Leah in any way (YOU GO, GIRLFRIEND!), yet even if he had tried for years on end, Martijn Westerholt could not have found any other singer on the planet who obviously sounds so much like Charlotte Wessels, stylistic vocal inflections, the nature of her vibrato, clarity, elocution, enunciation & all (plus Diana seems to have just a lil' more range & resonance also, & with just a discernible smidgen of something Sharon den Adel in there too). That puts (Ms.?) Leah in very good (& iconic) company, & is high praise from me, as she assuredly does compare quite favorably with both of these lyric (mezzo-?)sopranos & living musical legends...(I knew I wasn't the only set of ears who'd noticed this, surely! Then again, maybe it's somewhat just the way the soundman mixes it? /me shrugs)....Indeed, "I wish the band good fortune and can't wait to hear more from Diana! She is a star!"....
Lol I like WT but to be honest Charlotte is often out of tune. Diana is much accurate in singing and her tone is amasing.
New Delain are similar to the previous band, only better. The new members- including Diana - are absolutely top notch.
I was, and will continue to be, a huge fan of Charlotte. It looks as if the same will also be true of Diana! Delain just keeps on delivering.

Yeah these are good! I would like to hear her versions of some of the older stuff too. Particularly songs like Start Swimming or Come Closer.

Amazing how a small change in delivery took a song I always thought was annoying and generic, and made it good.
This was amazing! Diana is so talented and being honest, even though there's some resemblance to her voice and Charlotte's, I don't think they're as much alike as I did when I first heard Diana singing. I absolutely love her version of all these songs and can't wait for the new album!
Also, seriously? 2 minutes? Who thought that was enough? We need like at least a whole hour haha specially those of us who still couldn't make it to the live show!!!

Diana has a beautiful voice and I can understand why they chose her as their new singer. At the same time, it is also a very safe choice as her voice is very similar to Charlotte's.
Very good audition! I would have chosen her after this as well. Having someone who can sing the older songs is essential.
She sings with such an easiness, just like breathing... amazing, and pure talent

Ok, thank you very much for these samples, now we can start to feel how Diana takes Delain's materials for her own style. For me, it is completely validated and I understand how she was able to conquer your hearts. I particularly appreciate the right sobriety in the way she sings. She doesn't try to play any games, nor trying to hide herself behind useless stuff: it's her, her raw voice, and her tiny left upper lip tick only :-). We don't need anything else as she is talented enough. We are now looking forward to see her on stage, where she'll have to deal with endurance.
Definitely hearing a more distinctive sound from Diana, she really made these songs her own. Lovely clear and crisp voice and I can actually hear the lyrics through her pronunciation. To be honest I would like to hear the full covers cuz that was just fantastic. 👍
I agree Diana's Engish diction is far clearer. Her voice also sits slightly higher than Wessels. I feel it's more in the vein of Sharon den Adel. This is not a bad thing. Diana's voice is gorgeous.
Right! Both of the times I heard Charlotte sing in concert were incredible, but now I have no doubt that hearing Diana would be just as wonderful.
I thought it was just me who hear some Sharon's vibes in Diana's voice.
And I know Charlotte's fans will eat me alive for saying that, but someone has to do it: Diana's voice way more powerfull and suits Delain' songs better thn Charlotte.
I wish they had met Diana much sooner. Her voice is pure gold, stronger, louder, brighter and lighter. That's exactly what delain sounded like in the beginning. Infinitely glad that they finally found Diana. Can't wait to hear them live.

It's clearly her own identity in the voice, but at the same time really close to the old Delain - really good. Hope they will be able to create many new songs as good as d´the known ones. Goodluck Diana and the others🤘

I had given up a bit on Delain because I didn't really enjoy their last album. Most songs were missing the identity and originality of the first 4 or 5 albums. But with Diana they get something new and fresh, so I'm hopeful. She has a powerful and clean voice and they need to bring the most out of it.

I don't understand why people insist on bringing looks into this. A singer shouldn't be more valued because of looks, it shouldn't have to matter. Voice and charisma only.

This was kind of expected to happen. I have heard Leah since last year. And Delain was one of only two bands i could see her in. Either collaborsting with or becoming a member of.
