I know it’s a little hard to believe but I’m from Texas and spent 2 weeks in Cairns and Port Douglas a few years ago. I’m buying a catamaran soon and I hope to end up back there at some point in my travels. So beautiful there. I even took a drive out to Mount Surprise in the Savannah. The surprise was there wasn’t a mountain. lol

Ive been set on traveling to Australia since I was a kid. Did have 1 question though. First thing that caught my interest was a picture of an island I had seen in a "National geographic" book (Loved these as a kid in the 80's). Said to have been in Australia. The beach was entirely BLACK volcanic sand surrounded my emerald green waters. That picture was the beginning of my interest. Would anyone know of a place that looks like that there? It was amazing looking. But cant remember what the name of the island was.
