I... I never thought I'd watch a shirtless and bald man scream and wreak havoc on a recording studio while the instrumental to Such Great Heights plays.
I watched this a couple years ago before I knew who Marc Maron was and when I watched it the other week I laughed my ass off at his scene. He's my favorite part of this video, hands down.
Thoughts: 1. That performance was the polar opposite of what I expected from what I know about Moby 2. I never ever ever thought I would see Weird Al cover the Postal Service
This was GREAT! Loved it. I'm so cool music ignorant that I didn't get half the jokes. In all the time I was a "muso" I never did auditions, this video shows you why. I was in a band that was independent of the music industry & consequently got nowhere fast. Perversely that's a badge of honour to egotistical shits like me. As regards the vid, I was a bit worried to see Moby smashing his fist into the table. I think he'll regret doing that - it must have hurt. I saw Aimee Mann in Manchester years ago, with my mate Locky, we both agreed that it was 1 of the worst gigs (enjoyment wise) we'd ever been. The audience loved it. I think we were the only 2 there who didn't. No reflection on Aimee, we were both very lucky to have been so many gigs previously that were so fucking good. Locky went to infinitely more than me. But that was largely due to me being busy with my own shit (SHIT).
Awsome, I bet only a few would get the whole thing about it. For whatever reason they were my soundtrack to a long, long driving trip beguinning in LA and ending in central México.
How have i gone this long without this excellence?!? Tom Delonge? Duff? Weird Al?!?!?!?! Moby?? I'm ovewhelmed. So Outstanding! Love y'all.
I just discovered this today, so you're 6 months ahead of me!
Same!! HOW?!! Superb
Scharpling and Wurster are America’s best thing, ever.
10 months ahead of me.
I... I never thought I'd watch a shirtless and bald man scream and wreak havoc on a recording studio while the instrumental to Such Great Heights plays.
Because that instrumental is so great anything in front of it is made better by it.
hey man that not just a bald man, thats Moby
Learn some respect, Moby the theme to the Bourne movies
"I'm from sunny day real estate" "oh im more of a remax guy myself"
😂
I would still absolutely adore a full cover of Aimee Mann singing "Clark Gable". I think about this all the time.
Its a hilarious set up visually, but wow that blew me away. Super sad she doesn't have a full version
While we're at it, I'd love to hear her takes on some DCFC too... something like "sound of settling", or "heart is an empty room".
Aimee Mann makes Clark Gable sound so good acoustic. I WANT A COVER!
i think there is one
@@Dmyra If there is one, please share where it could be found. I've always wanted to hear a full cover from her.
have y'all seen this? egg-celent aimee mann video directed by the same person who did this ruclips.net/video/XA1cX-wgMdM/видео.html
the world needs an album with weird al covering the postal service
You mean Denny and the fun blasters
When Ben finally was up there & then started singing... Goosebumps instantly.
I have them right now
Just got back from the DCFC/The Postal Service show in New Haven, CT.
Fantastic.
Thanks to the bands and crew for a memorable experience!
"I don't need this indie.. fuckin... shit"
lmfao how have i never seen this
"kids like energy, they do. I've seen it" - Tom Delonge
A legend
I watched this a couple years ago before I knew who Marc Maron was and when I watched it the other week I laughed my ass off at his scene. He's my favorite part of this video, hands down.
Aimee Mann and Duff McKagan also appeared on Portlandia for essentially the same joke. Is there just a reserve of musicians on standby for cameo work?
Thoughts:
1. That performance was the polar opposite of what I expected from what I know about Moby
2. I never ever ever thought I would see Weird Al cover the Postal Service
I guess you've never seen Moby live then.
So much talent used for such short gags. Just amazed to be going to see the postal service live!
Cause like what even is music you know
This was hillarious....is it just me or does Ben Gibbard look like a different person every time I see him?
He looks like Gord Downie in this video
That’s the magic of a wig
Weird Al man! "Sure you don't want to go with the accordion guy, he rocked."
"He likes that! That's hilarious." Oh Marc Maron
The first guy that comes on stage is the drummer for The Mountain Goats and Superchunk. Freaking love him..
Weird Al killed it! Loved it.
For 7 years and change, I didn't know this existed. It's so good.
Tom Delonge & Moby made this video for me haha
YA BOI TOM DELONGE
Tom DeLonge keeps his cool! Yet the nicest one of all. Seriously, he's awesome.
I wish Tom DeLonge had a longer part.
a delonger part
Please, please tell me there's a full version of Aimee Mann covering Clark Gable. That sounded amazing.
"All that was on purpose." Marc Maron is a god.
I know him from Glow, and now seeing him here is hilarious
I have such strong amazing memories filled with happiness and love tied to this whole album. Thank you. ❤
years later..... and i just want a full album of Weird Al Postal Service Covers
I would do almost anything to have Aimee Mann actually sing that song or do covers of all of the Postal Service...
Bens hair.
If Weird Al made a Postal Service cover album, I'd buy it.
How the hell did they get all these greats together?! Such a great project and still fresh today.
"We comb through Myspace, Friendster, all the sites..."
Lol 2003
holy crap that acoustic Clark Gable sounded amazing
I need Aimee Mann doing acoustic versions of so many songs, including & ESPECIALLY Clark Gable. This belongs in my life.
Tom Delonge cracks me up!
so many good choices, 1)Moby.2) weid al 3) duff 4) mark marion
I come back and watch this once every other year or so
moby on that death grips sht
Moby is referencing the late great Kevin Allin, who had passed on.Show some respect, you munch.
on that death grips shit. made my day bro
TOM DELONGE!! :D
I dig Moby's music but I think this might be the coolest thing he's ever done!
I would put most of the money I've earned in this life into a Weird Al "Give Up" tribute album as a Kickstarter project.
HOLY SHIT I CAME HERE CAUSE THE POSTAL SERVICE BUT THEN TOM DELONGE COMES ONSTAGE AND WHAT?1//111//???
never get old... thank you
Weird Al was fire.
Aimee Mann would be a perfect person to work with Jimmy Tamborello
This is actually the greatest video on RUclips
Duff's shit was pure dry comedy...best part of the clip!
I don't need... this Indie fuckin *SHIT.*
Enjoyed this video! All the best!!
"It's Axle, Slash, the guy in the top hat and Buckethead." 😆😆😂😂
i personally loved weird Al on accordion!! great cover of Silhouettes! Also-was Ben wearing a wig?
I don't know how I missed this but it's f**king hilarious
Ben is wearing a wig because this is supposed to take place when postal service just started a few years back, and this is how he had his hair then.
the Weird Al part unironically slaps. I'm pretty sure there are more than a couple accordion parts on Give Up
I can hardly believe this video marking the 10th anniversary of Give Up is now 10 years old.
OMG i've watched this like a dozen times and am only just now getting that the keyboard that "needs to be smaller" is a microkorg lol
this is like the best thing i've seen all day. only better after seeing them play last night
Jimmy is the really shy guy in class. Then he just plops out albums that were 15 years ahead of their times
This video deserves a couple more million views. . .
the weird al cover is freakin awsome!
i like how jimmy's expression is the same the whole time! xD thank god the postal service is returning! now my life is once again complete
This was SO funny! The dude at 4:58 was insane! I'm so glad Ben won the auditions. Perfect match, them two.
This was GREAT! Loved it. I'm so cool music ignorant that I didn't get half the jokes. In all the time I was a "muso" I never did auditions, this video shows you why. THE MOBY SCENE HOLY SHIT
I've seen this a lot of times; it never gets old.
"I think we both hate bass" I died
Kids like energy.. Hahahah most of what I do is great. Too funny there
haha, that was so great, loved it
Moby ! When you laugh so hard you fart 🤣
The Moby bit was pure gold!
damn i wish rivers was in this
lol @ tom delonges face at the end of his part
Duff...best part in this whole bit!
OMG moby freaking out is classic!!!! awesome sauce
I GOT SO FUCKING HAPPY WHEN TOM DELONGE CAME UP
This is AMAZEBALLS!
Ben gibbard is an ever evolving russet potato human. He looks like he morphs just a lil bit everytime I see him.
“All that was on purpose”
Give Up turned 20 just a couple weeks ago !!! 😭
Moby ahead of the curve with the Confide version like 5 years early
TOM DELONGE from San Diego... Punk rock!!! \m/
now i kinda wanna hear aimee mann finish that cover
Tom Delonge earns title of UFO researcher of the year
Awsome, I bet only a few would get the whole thing about it. For whatever reason they were my soundtrack to a long, long driving trip beguinning in LA and ending in central México.
Tom was great
Marc Maron's bit is hilarious
One of the best videos.
Fumbling around on a palm pilot like it's 2002. Perfect.
Out of all the lyrics, Weird Al sang the perfect lyrics for him. I would so buy that album.
Haha Tom Delonge was on here.
When did Moby become the lead singer for Judas Priest? ;)
This is why I love RUclips.
Moby could honestly be in a harsh noise or power electronics act doing that bit.
I loved seeing Nate
Jon Daly is brilliant in this.
Got Nate up in the joint
If only it had really happened like this...
Jon knows the Peppers, hes one of the original Peppermen
TOM DELONGE!!!!!!
