Mujin did such a great job setting up the Painted On Moonlight moment, and Miyeon being very open and honest about how she felt after the poor performance is really impressive. My favorite thing about Miyeon is how she is unapologetically herself. She's silly, she's pretty, if she messes up she owns it; she's not fake trying to be a perfect idol or anything. She's just Cho Miyeon, and that's wonderful.
Miyeon's vocals are something else. She has this incredible way of conveying emotion, especially with soulful lyrics like Because of You by 윤미래. And yes finally! We get to hear her sing To. X by the incredible vocalist herself Taeyeon (태연). It's like she burrows right into the heart of the song. She sounds catchy when she sings pop music which is why it makes sense for her to sing the pre-chorus and/or the chorus, but there's a certain rawness in R&B, ballads, and even pop-rock that lets her voice truly shine. Songs like 'The Painted On The Moonlight' ( 달빛에 그려지는) and 'Fate' (나는 아픈 건 딱 질색이니까) - those were a turning point to seeing how she can sing outside of what we're familiar with. It felt like she unlocked a whole new level in her vocal delivery. Great song choice for a duet! Leemujin's airy tone offers this beautiful counterpoint to Miyeon's powerful tone. They create this incredible dynamic tension, this sense of striving towards something together. I felt the urgency when they were singing it together.
