I am very impressed! I couldn’t understand how you were going to remove and replace those boards. I get it now!!! So much work. I give you tons of credit.
I can see how difficult replacing the floor joists is. The art of carpentry has always intrigued me. I've watched my daddy and helped (5 year old😮) him build cupboards etc when I was a little girl. Seeing the work you are doing Nate brings back great memories. This home will bring you and Katie years of pleasure and memories. Job well done 😊
Nate, I'm so proud of you. You will do anything you need to do to get this done and done properly. Keep safe and keep up the excellent work. Let's eliminate ER next time if possible. Thanks, Katie, for being there in Nates' time of need Love you both
My dad replaced a bottom plate once on our house. I remember something similar to what your doing. I think he also put up a false wall to help support some of the weight and then banged that plate in. Lots of hard work for sure. If you have any lying around, my dad uses old galvanized pipe for an bar extension. 😊
A lot of people would have given up by now. So much work you didn’t know that had to be done. You ARE getting it done though so take your time and don’t worry about how long it’s taking. Much respect!
This old grandma really appreciates the thoughtful intelligence Nate applies to the house project. You two are going to have a masterpiece to be very proud of. You’re going to know every single thing in that house and you will have confidence everything is done in the correct way. When it’s completed, I would be first in line to buy that house if you were going to sell it. Excellent work Nate❤
Boy if you don’t move into this house after all your work I don’t know? So happy I click on this post now finally figured out why your removing everything that mold is still there after all your de-molding after you moved there!!
Well done Nate! It's not just the actual work to be done is complex but the sequencing of each element is to be right too! That and the sheer scale of the project is an awesome burden for you to carry in your mind. You deserve a lot of praise for your approach and your skills. And Health and Safety have just been underlined in the eye incident. Keep going, we are so appreciating the work you are doing.
If you have to cut out the beams, try cutting at an angle so they don't drop on you. The top is wider and as it tapers this holds the beam up. Your really doing amazing.
When my husband and I remodeled all of our houses we had a motto and it was "take out what isn't a nice house." Sometimes it's more than we bargain for but soldier on Nate. Luckily you'll probably always live there, we get it done and move.
Omg Nate so sorry about your eyes .. Omg ear and eye protection is super IMPORTANT.. even in the garden make sure you tell Katie when the garden is really full and full force to wear air protections last year. I had my garden so flush and stuff and I think something had gotten into my ear like a bug and when I went to bed, I could hear it. I could not sleep so I end up getting up and getting hot water or warm water with peroxide and had to flush my ear out till it went away and it worked I didn’t catch what was in there because I was doing this while I was still sleepy in the middle of the night. I didn’t wanna wake anybody up, but from now on I’m gonna be having air protection when I go out into the garden when it gets very full.🌱🌱🌱🌱
Nate you are a hard working dude. I don’t know anything about construction nor understand what you’re doing, but I’m always fascinated and cheering you on.
What a job and then some..........mercy, mercy me! Please stay safe and take care of yourself. I wish you had someone to help you with that and also for safety sake. I know you will get it done, but what a job. You are going to enjoy that home when it's done......you have so much time and caring into this. God bless and stay safe!!!
WOW! That is quite the task, Nate! Good on you for your perseverance! Unreal how many hiding spots that mold has been. Thank goodness you are getting into every nook and cranny.
Have been in Morristown for the past few days, I’ve visited Dutch Bros everyday. I think that is where you said you like coffee. Was hoping to meet you and buy you a couple of cups. Maybe next time.
Nate is great that you are handy and know how to do alot of stuff and also wanting to keep cost down but when it come to structuaral things maybe you should have a contractor take care of this. I would be terrified that the house would fall.
You might want to see a RUclipsr Cole the Cornstar. He’s a young farmer that is restoring an old farm mansion. You might get some tips from them. Just a thought.
Nate, Is it really worth all this if youre going to build anyway? Mold is never completely gone. Can a piecemeal sill plate still hold the load it needs to support? I dont see how it can in pieces. Its only as strong as its weakest link, its fasteners. At the minimum get an expert foundation company to do this and incur some debt. Build once, not twice and youre not getting any younger, as amazing a job as youre doing...and it is amazing!
That's some serious determination.....well done!

That is some HARD work! I admire your determination. The final product will be worth it, hang in there
I see the vision! You can do it. 🎉
Amazing diligence is paying off!
Put a pipe over end of wrench to get more leverage putting less strain on your lower back
Tedious but really impressive work! It will be so worth it. Well done👏🏻
Glad to see your eye will be fine. You are doing a great job.
I’m exhausted. But excited for when you complete this challenging project, knowing that it’s now cleaned up and done right! Way to go, Nate!
Wow, lot of sweat-equity in this house!! Thanks for taking us along. Little by little you're getting it done!

It will be like a holiday for them when they get to move in.🙂🙂🙂

Yes, this will be our home.
Great job Nate , I hear that you can take borax mixed with boiling water an brush onto wood will prevent any molde from growing.

You've really learned a lot during this process. You should be proud of yourselves. Thanks for the video!

Good job Nate!
I've been watching cornstar on yt they have been doing this to!
You’re doing a Great job..
I like the way to see things ..not sure if you do some research..but it looks great
If you drop the floor height down and remove some of the joists you should be able to replace the bottom plate to.
I would definitely replace all the sill plates.
Have been in Morristown for the past few days, I’ve visited Dutch Bros everyday. I think that is where you said you like coffee. Was hoping to meet you and buy you a couple of cups. Maybe next time.
anytime marrying lumber together for support i would advise gluing and screwing it together!
If it's not too difficult, I suggest removing the glass door before jacking it up further. Glass shards are no fun.

Did you correct the cause of the water damage to the bottom plates before replacing them?

Can't you get a longer blade on your Saws-all to be more effecient?
You should show us the completed floor when you get it done in six months
Yep, it's taking a long time.
