That's a knit (stretchy) fabric and on a regular single stitch sewing maching you should have used a zig zag stitch. The seams on that dress are surely going to pull apart.

Not necessarily...if you want the clothing to look professional and not homemade and to also last more than 10 minutes then you will need other machines as well or invest in a really good inndustrial sewing machine.
