Creating Inner Volume with Delete Face - Siemens NX 12.0

Use the Delete Face command to remove selected geometry or holes.
You can:
Automatically heal or retain the open area left in the model by the deleted faces.
Preserve adjacent blends.
Split a single body into multiple bodies.
After you delete a face, the delete face feature appears in the history of the model. You can edit or delete this like any other feature.
Delete Face is especially useful when modifying an imported model which has no feature history.

delete failed because the remaining faces cannot close the area left...".

Hello, probably your border faces are not planar surfaces. So it cannot close volume. If you want, you can send me the parasolid data and I can investigate. [e-mail]

Of course, it can be used creating mold components. But NX already contains applications for this, in order to create core and cavity you can use mold wizard.
