    Back when parking was free at the Venetian, I was parked in the garage and they stole the catalytic converter from my truck. The only argument I can come up with for pay garages, is that the bad guys are not paying a fee to go in and steal. They'll take their considerable talents elsewhere.

    I'm staying at the Fontainebleau August 20-23 and am genuinely excited! I'll film and give a thorough, sincere review of my experience: not only as far as what it offers and my individual takes on some of its restaurants, lounges, nightlife and pool complex, but also how the resort makes me FEEL. I do think with the one-two punch of Tropicana and Mirage closing, that suddenly reverses the net surplus of new rooms Fontainebleau's opening last December on the Strip provided..................and with that I think more people are going to be weighing alternatives to both for their next stay and if Fontainebleau continues to offer deals as they have been doing beginning two months ago, they can win over more people that way.
    I'll need to see the new Rio carpet up close to get a most accurate gauge of it, but I do love that they're doubling down on its theme at the very least. When Lapa Lounge opens around the Fourth of July it's only going to further enhance the Brazilian theming. I actually briefly visited the Rio on the way to Chef Kenny's Vegan Dim Sum (on West Flamingo Road just west of Decatur)..............and my eyes honestly welled up from how many people were in there. It was a dramatic 180 degree shift from what it was like the previous time I was there back in April 2022 which honestly left me feeling depressed at the time. As you both already know Rio has the most emotional resonance of any mega-resort in Vegas, and it joys my heart to see a feel-good comeback story in the making. 🥰

      @Milestomemories  4 месяца назад +1

      Yeah I think Mirage closing could help them a lot. I imagine a decent chunk of people who are used to staying a bit further north might be willing to give the new casino a shot. Could help RW as well. Looking forward to staying at FB this Summer myself!

    • @MACMAMI
      @MACMAMI 4 месяца назад

      @@Milestomemories Right, and I also feel the Mirage's three-year closure will leave a notable gap in the slightly-north-of-central-Strip for quite a while not dissimilar to that of the north Strip between Sahara and Fontainebleau/Circus Circus and Resorts World/Encore in the meantime: which would further incentivize more who usually don't stay on the north Strip to give it a try as a mind over matter exercise.
      Like I know Harrahs is directly across the street from the Mirage, but 1) when you're walking on the west side of Las Vegas Boulevard between the Caesars Palace Forum Shops and Treasure Island, it feels like quite the stroll in its own right, and 2) Harrahs is hardly a destination resort anyway so even though you do feel like you're in the heart of the action strolling on the east side of Las Vegas Boulevard outside of Harrahs, distance-wise it really isn't THAT different from walking between Encore and Resorts World but only FEELS like a lengthier stroll because there aren't currently mega-resorts on both sides of Las Vegas Boulevard in that specific area.

The room prices for what you get were very good. The spa was great too. I am not sure if its because its new, quiet or if they have better air systems but the air quality on the casino floor was much better than other hotels. I struggle with all of the vaping in vegas. The problem with Atomic Golf, is that it is Far North on the strip and walking there is not only a little dangerous at certain times but it is a long ways to walk. That means you need to have a car. Strat decided to charge for parking, even for hotel guests, which is just beyond stupid considering location. Free parking was one of the few reasons to go all the way down to the Strat. So think about wanting to go to Atomic Golf, and having to pay $20 just to park your car, at a casino with few other reasons to go there. Charging for parking was a terrible decision by the Strat. I used to stay there a lot because I always have a car, and the parking was free and you could get a decent room for an OK price. But that is not longer true.

    Was at Fontainebleau last Friday night and it was pretty dead. Venetian/Palazzo, by comparison, were packed.
    I think you nailed the problem. They are not doing enough to get people in the door. I matched to their Royal status from Venetian diamond. My current Venetian offers are 3-4 days comped, $950 slot credit, and $50 food credit. Fontainebleau is offering 30% off plus $50 slot credit. I have issues with the changes to Venetian Rewards making tiers more difficult to obtain, but if I’m choosing between offers, it’s a no-brainer.

Under the old system, with what I just spent, I would easily be at the third tier and in sight of the fourth. MTM, Fontainebleau's numbers make sense based on other examples. When The Mirage opened in November 1989, Steve Wynn had to have revenue of $1 million per day to make his interest payments on the approx. $700 million in junk-bond debt. The revenue the first month was $50 million and that didn't include the casino as I remember it. Fontainebleau has conventional financing from what I've heard so lower interest rates but on a ton more in construction costs. And I don't see near the traffic that The Mirage had when it opened. As to Atomic Golf, when they first opened it was 12 Noon to 12 Midnight M-W with longer hours for Th, F, Sat, etc. So with 100 golf stations plus food service can understand needing a bunch of people but now on weekdays they are 4PM - 12 Midnight with longer weekend hours. Would like both them and Top Golf to succeed but given AG's high prices they are in the wrong location.

You have to use a proxy (someone locally that you communicate your picks to and they put the picks in for you. And yes there is an additional charge for that. Couple years ago when I looked into it the Circa Proxy service was $225 for the entire year/season. And you'll have to meet with your proxy to fill out paperwork and go through specifics re communication of picks, how much % to give your proxy should you cash (although I'm pretty sure most are fine with a tipping system) The proxy I met with mentioned 3 to 10% of winnings is pretty standard when you cash on any type of gaming in Vegas.

    In NYC, Parm is great fast food Italian. I was disappointed to see they didn't add Eggplant parm sandwich or pasta to this menu - so few options for non meat eaters 😢. And yeah Vegas is more pricey than NYC in most cases - I just paid $18 for a HALF of an 8" sandwich the other day at Capriotti's... unreal! Might as well just eat at real restaurants, but late night options are few these days.

      Based on my visits it seems to be busier every time I go compared to the last. But I have seen some people share it being very empty during the week/day time. But it's not like every casino is hopping during that time. I think the occupancy rate will make a huge difference and if they can get up near where Resorts World has been I think it will be fine.

    I did a quick pass through FB my last trip to check it out. Got my MGM Pearl Tier match, dropped in $50, walked out with $300. Nice looking casino, in my opinion, didn't seem all that busy on a Wed afternoon. Bounced from there to Slots A Fun, Resorts World and Wynn/Encore. I actually enjoyed spending some time on that part of the Strip, which I haven't been since I checked out RW after it opened. I took the tram up to Sahara and walked over to FB, easy walk. I probably wouldn't have gone into Slots A Fun or RW if I didn't got to FB. I never used my $100 dining credit either, so I guess I'll have to pop back in during my next trip.

    Just got back from Vegas. First thing I saw on RUclips as a video by Jacob saying the odds on the slot machines are getting worse. I can say my experience in this last trip was in line with that. Could be I just had some extremely bad luck but I could not win on anything in any strip casino: penny slots, quarter slots, dollar slots. Hardly hit any bonus features and when I did, the payout was minimal. Been going to Vegas a long time but this trip was rough. Also noticed that machines with 20 cent and 30 cent minimum bets were pretty much gone in every casino. Might be time for me to kiss the slots goodbye.

      I don’t gamble as much as you, more like $2k limit over a 3 day weekend of quarter and dollar video poker. My last trip at Green Valley Ranch I got wiped out quick. When I asked what comps I earned with my players card, they told me nothing. Not even a cup of coffee. I will never go back to any Station Casino. I’m also questioning how much I will be visiting Vegas at all as cheap as they have gotten and gouging for everything.

      I’m in agreement with you. All these years and the “host’s” at MGM will look you in the eye and insinuate that you didn’t gamble enough for the “comped” room. Data point, I was in a MGM property in April, with the MGM tier accelerator, I passed 115,000 points, more than half way to Platinum in a 3 day stay, I asked for a limo to the airport and was denied! Spent $48 over my $300 Food and Beverage comp and they refused to “comp” the $48! The “host” said that I should use my personal MGM points! I said, no, I think I earned it. That’s why, MGM platinums should use the free comp’ed rooms and not gamble after hitting status.

Everybody I know that’s local has been going to the Sahara or Tropicana for their free parking and walking up or down the strip from there. Free parking is a huge draw but sadly it’s almost gone now. If Virgin was on the strip or closer to it the free parking would have been a draw.

    I have stayed at Rio a number of times and I always felt it is way too dark and dead in there. Rio is supposed to be "Carnival" year round... that means bright colors, music, colorful tropical birds, and a party atmosphere. I thought the new carpet shown adds to that theme and is a step in the right direction, and I hope it means they intend to brighten the place up and make it a more lively vibe on the casino floor. Dealers and waitresses should be wearing colorful carnival headdresses and outfits, things that enhance the theme of the place.

Where I live- outside of Chicago, we have a similar famous Italian place called Portillos. I just looked at both menus. For an Italian Sandwich at Parms in Vegas- its $18. Here in Illinois at our Portillos- pretty much the same sandwich is $6. Need I say more. Vegas is a rip off today. No thanks. We have a Hard Rock Casino here in Illinois if I feel the need. I don't think flying to Vegas to pay $25 for the privilege to park where I'm going to lose money gambling and then have to pay 300% more for a sandwich is something that I wish to do. I'll let others "enjoy" all that.
