    Thank you for putting this video together it was exactly what I was looking for. I completely agree that it is difficult to find a single source with all the information like you both have pooled together. I look forward to seeing more videos. I have just started bikejoring with my two Bouviers and we were struggling a bit with how to tie them together... very much looking forward to our next time out with neck lines.

    A few months back I bought my new Vizsla puppy and she loves to run. I’m 70 so I’m not much into running with her and recently started riding my MB with her. I quickly learned some do’s and don’ts about riding with dog on leash, but no accidents. I had never heard of bikejoring and found your video today. Great job and thanks for the video. I like my dog on my left and she naturally runs to the front left of me. I’m going to try the antenna and see if it will work. I’m also looking for a bungee leash to keep some constant tension for when she slows down. Again, Thanks for the video!!

    Very helpful video. I’m just getting into this as a way to exercise my dog who just loves to run. I started with a walking harness and a flexi lead attached to my hip belt pack. I had been teaching my dog to just run on my right side. I realize I totally had the wrong harness but my initial goal was not to have her pulling. Since she likes this so much, I’m now ordering all the equipment you recommended to transition to proper bikejoring. The part about how to easily put the x back harness on was really useful.

    I had always run with my Husky Max 🐺 and had just begun to take him out whilst on my bike and just sort of hashed together his long bungee lead with my bike with varying successes when he became ill and eventually we had to have him euthanized. Obviously as a family were devastated but we are now at a point where we're looking to rescue another dog and Bikejor is something I'm really keen to use as fun/exercise and this vid' has answered all of my questions and was so easy to follow. • @iversonmatthew
      @iversonmatthew 2 года назад

      @@kylanjuhl5294 ours don’t tear theirs up too much or at all really but there are products you can apply that help. Ours HATE booties but if yours don’t, that’s an option too. Mine are also trained to run in the grass on the right side when I say “stay right”.. it helps with lots of things like avoiding dogs and pedestrians, staying off hot blacktop, and staying safe when I need then too.
      Otherwise, I worked each of our up slowly so their pads would get callus and tough. We also check their paws regularly.. something like dried mud between their toes can get them too.
      Good luck! 🍀

      We plan to! We're already jotting down ideas, but if there's anything specific that you'd like to see or learn about, let us know! We also enjoy canicross with our pups so expect some videos on that as well. As far as the bike goes, I'd say it really depends on where you and your pup plan on going and how extreme you plan on getting. We started on our old 12 year old mountain bikes. They worked fine for quite a while until we started going down harder trails and reached their limits and decided to upgrade to more modern technology with disc brakes.

    • @airgunningcolorado78
      @airgunningcolorado78 4 года назад +2

      @@Spott10 i want and need to run a gsp and apbt. Both high energy and the pointer extremely so. I think I will definitely need the disc brakes lol. I have also had a ton of bad experiences with the box store bikes so would rather spend the $ up front then spend it afterwards with Dr bills.
      Ideas... toss in distance and time of run info in at the end of runs. Maybe a trail map too? I just love watching the dogs get to really let it out constructively and hope the sport/hobby/playing gets bigger here. It would be cool to see local meet up runs/ overnight trips/camping and even races.

    I started bikejoring with my GSD Malinois cross in December 2020 and I was given a good tip for removing her non stop freemotion harness that some others may not have picked up on yet. I found that she is fine getting into the harness as you show in this clip but really didnt like having her legs pulled out of the 'arm pits' as in a reversal of how you put it on. Someone suggested getting her to put her head down and just push the whole thing off her and let her just step away from it. Works very well, and if your dog is resistant to putting its head down just put a few treats on the floor.

    Honestly this video was great for me. I saw bike joring videos on tik tok a while back and thought it was quite cool. Then I was surprised with a German shepherd puppy for my 18 birthday and have been loving training her but I have learnt when wearing a harness she like to pull a lot and so I wanted to put that to good use. I bought a new bike got myself some protective gear but I’ve been looking for some real information on how to start this hobby/sport. My puppy is only 5 months old and still has a lot of growing to do yet so definitely not gonna get her to do full bike joring yet but I have been getting her used to being out with a bike and keeping her beside me while I ride and she really loves the exercise. I can’t wait to use the imformation from this video to get to bike joring in the future

    Great video and very clear explanation.
    I am new owner of 2 Huskies, there are now 7months and 11months old and so far we use to walk like 10-12 km at the mountains 2-3 days in the week (the rest days just small walks around) and I'm thinking to start ride a bike in order to have them running a little bit, not necessarily to pull me, just to take off their energy when we do shorter walks daily. Do you think we can try or there are too young for this ? Another question, how long has to be rope affront of the bicycle to the dogs? Greetings from Greece 🇬🇷💙

    • @Spott10
      @Spott10  3 года назад +2

      We routinely do 6-8 miles single dog. Their longest day was 23 miles, but we took it slow and took a long lunch break. I'd recommend starting around 2-3 miles and see how your dog responds. It's possible they'll be able to go 5 miles right away, but unless they're already a runner, their joints and muscles may not to build into those distances -- especially if they're going hard the whole time.
