Please see other two videos for corrections. Most importantly, I had the placement of the anchor peg backwards in this video. I corrected it here: • Correction for marking...
Note that the biggest difference is that I’ve cut the cords long enough that they stay in the loom “permanently”. When changing drafts, I only need to move the anchor peg to the correct position/lamm. I don’t have to thread it through the treadle and lamms again after this set up.
When I tried it the first time, I used the arrow pegs. I'm going to use the anchor pins from now on. In the video I have an anchor pin in the top of every cord in the top lamm. I just did that to hold the cords neatly so I could put the dowel in the top of the treadle. I'm going to keep the arrow pegs in a container at the ready when I do a new tie up and not have any in unused treadles/lamms. I hope that makes sense.
Full credit goes to Katie Meeks (Oct 2017 Complex Weavers Journal) about a tie up system that you do on top of the lamms instead of under the treadles. Katie gives credit to Kay Faulkner, Sara von Tresckow and Paula Williams. And thank you to Bing Crosby for a fun little title for the method. lol
Jean, this is VERY helpful! I keep switching things around on my Glimakra to keep my back happy, but never hit on making a single cord work for both Lamms with the "top" tie up. Excellent! Can't thank you enough!!
My pleasure. I learned it from others just thought I'd document it further to hopefully help others.
Thank you, Jean! This looks a bit easier to do your tie-up from the tops than underneath. This is really great stuff!
You're very welcome. SO much easier.
Hi, Jean! I'd really like to give this a try, but I need more details on exactly how it's done. Thanks so much!
@@jonlilley9161 It's all here and on my blog. The link is in the description. Hope that helps.
Thank you for making this video! I have been doing this but wasn’t sure if it is correct or not.
lol... I'm not sure I am, but it works, so I figure it's right. You are most welcome. Just paying it forward...
Hi, what type of loom do you have? I have an older Toika Liisa, so I'm going to be seeing it up soon. I am gonna bookmark toss so I can come back to it.
fantastic...thank you..very clear.
Very welcome. Glad it helps
How does the tension get tighten on the treadles between the lamms
Hi Bill, I'm not understanding your question. Have you watched all of my videos on the subject and checked out the blog post? jeanelizabethfiberstudio.com/top-o-the-lamms-tie-up/
I seem to know how to tie up my bergman loom. It’s warping the loom itself that I’m having trouble. Do you have any tips?
I can try. Can you be more specific on what in the warping process you're having difficulty with?
No matter how carefully I make my warp, I always get crossed threads which ,of course, haunt me latter as I weave.
@@judyhalter1147 I'm sorry. I think that just comes with practice, but I still occasionally get crossed threads. That problem usually happen when sleying the reed or threading and just grabbing the wrong thread off of the lease sticks.
