    Hi Jane My challenge is at the end of a piece - I can't seem to turn things around and anchor properly....just saw your pdf which should help - thank you :) BTW had I seen this video many years ago I could have saved many hours of frustration...everyone that sees this is very fortunate to get it right right from the start!

    im looking for a way to anchor my weft so i can go back and machine stitch for kitchen towels. can i use this hemstitch if i don't want to leave a fringe?

    • @JaneStaffordTextilesChannel
      @JaneStaffordTextilesChannel  4 года назад

      Hi Nicole, you don't need to do this hemstitch if you'll be machine stitching the towels when they are off the loom. What you can do is throw 2 picks of a thicker yarn or different colour to separate your towels while you're weaving. Once off the loom, you can machine stitch these 'towel separator' picks that separate each towel and cut between. That will secure your weft threads until you're ready to do the final hemstitching. We have a video on Hemstitching towels on our channel. Have you had a chance to look it up? Here's the link ruclips.net/video/_ecj0BdbjVo/видео.html

    That's rather different to the hem stitch I've seen in books/videos/classes. I have never seen it done this way.

  • @sharonmurrell9291

    This looks very different than other instructions. The others seem to lock the stitch. Am I mistaken?? Did I miss something? I'm doing my second dish towel on my rigid heddle. I must say, I have much to learn. It's not as easy as I thought.

      Hi Sharon, there are many different ways to hem on the loom. This is a simple yet effective stitch that will hold our weaving in place. If you'd like to view a video where Jane demonstrates hemstitching tea towels off the loom, check out the video here on our channel: ruclips.net/video/_ecj0BdbjVo/видео.html

      @amandaw26475 Год назад

      Yes, i thought that too. This is not the hem stitch i've seen everyone else doing.
      As you say, the others 'lock' the stitch in place.

    Can I do the same to end off my weaving?

    • @JaneStaffordTextilesChannel
      @JaneStaffordTextilesChannel  3 года назад +1

      Hi Nia, in our video description we added a link for a hemstitching document that demonstrates how to do the other end of your weaving. You can download the PDF. The other end is slightly different where you insert the needle at the top of your 2 picks as opposed to the bottom when you begin your weaving.

      Hi Sylvie, if you go to the link in the description above and download a copy of JST Simple Hemstitching PDF, we have the 'how to' for the end of the weaving.
