I love these bumper pads and am looking forward to making them! Just wondering, when you’re measuring the yarn, is each of the four strands actually 400 inches but then folded in half? If they’re only 200 inches each and then folded in half, I can’t see how the final bumper pads measure over 100 inches?
Good questions! Sorry for the confusion. You are correct that the total length of each strand is about 400” and then when folded in half should be about 200”. I apologize for the lack of clarity on that. I hope you enjoy making one! Stay cozy, Jessica
I will do my best :) A standard baby bed matress is 27"x51" = 156" perimeter. A queen mattress is 60"x80" = 280" perimeter - 26" opening = 254" perimeter. I would guess you could start with 4 strands at 680" long (fold in half to get your 8 strands to braid) to get this length, but this is just an estimate. I'm guessing you'd need 4-5 skeins of our yarn. If it were me, I would probably make a few smaller bumpers and then connect them, otherwise the braiding that long of yarn will get very cumbersome. I hope this is helpful! Stay cozy, Jessica
Hi there, found it very cool and wanted to try out, but from minute 2:53 to starting actually brading i don't get it! do you cut the strands, do you just fold them? would you mind telling me more about it? thank you in advance
Hi! Good questions. Fold the strands in half so that they are about 200” on each side (400” total). This will leave you with around 150” final bumper. Does that make sense? Sorry it took me over a week to respond. Let me know if you have other questions! Stay cozy, Jessica
Thank you! We currently do not ship internationally, but are looking to expand in the future. If you are unable to get this exact yarn in your country, you could also look for chenille yarn or merino wool. Stay cozy, Jessica
Hi Jessica...i found your tutorial most helpful. I would like to make these for both of my girls cribs. And i would like to use 3 or 4 different colors. How many skiens of each color would i need to purchase from your site?
I’m glad this was helpful! It’s been a while since I’ve made these, but I think you’d need 4 skeins per number for a standard crib, so 8 skeins total if you’re going to make two 👌🏼
It depends on the yarn. Some is chunkier/heavier so a bit shorter than our less chunky/lighter yarn. Our skeins = 0.5 kg / 1.1 lbs. Currently, our mauve and ivory yarns equal about 55 ft/skein and our eggplant and honey yarns equal about 68 ft/skein. All of our yarn options are available at StayCozyCo.com. I hope this is helpful! Love ur inspiration 🤣🤣🤣❤
Good job
Thank you!

Could you please help with measurements for a queen sized floor bed minus a 26 inch opening? TIA!

@@staycozycreativeco so I would need 2 skeins of each color I use?
@@angelastearns6731 correct, if you use 4 colors
How long is each skeins?
