    Lovely!!! Baby/Nursery DIYs are the most rewarding for some reason. It’s like the most personal gift for your baby! I used a padded bumper for the first few months. Then changed to a mesh bumper when I noticed she would press her face into the side of the crib. I definitely think as long as you keep an eye on your baby and know their sleeping habits, a bumper can be totally safe!

    • @MsFrankenStitch
      @MsFrankenStitch  6 лет назад

      RunWhiteRabbit thank you! Yeah Grootie sleeps in my room with me so I know her every move. I agree the mesh ones are great-Grootie doesn’t press her face against it-if she does I’d switch immediately. But she kicks and hard! One night her legs were hanging outside of her crib and started crying because she was trying to roll as it was dangling there 😱. I freaked out right away and wanted to remedy it!! But I’m excited to start working on her nursery!!

    Tip: use a paper towel roll inside fabric to scrunch up fabric and then stuff it!

    Please read my description and my disclaimer....crib bumpers are not safe in cribs according to the AAP. Please advise when you decide to make one or buy one 😀.
    Do me a solid and check out my friend's DIY on Grootie's super cute quilt! Hey Whitney! I see you girl! ruclips.net/video/sV11eodG6J4/видео.html

    Just saw your vent post on Facebook and decided to drop a comment. I've watched your videos for years and loved watching you grow not only as a RUclipsr but with your personal life as well. You're an amazing creative person, and I'm sure you're an incredible mother as well. Baby Groot will grow up and see how much you love her with all the DIY projects and outfits. I hope that for every 1 negative comment, they'll be hundreds of positive comments in its place. Thank you for continuing with RUclips, even though I can only imagine how busy and hectic your personal life is at the moment!

      @MsFrankenStitch  6 лет назад +1

      silverstreamz awww thank you it’s really sweet of you! I’m normally pretty good about negative comments. I think it’s a new slap to get called a bad mommy when you work so hard and mean so well. Life is a crazy juggle but it’s so fulfilling especially when I get to do this in between naps which is a blessing ya know? It comes with it downside but-I try really hard to focus on these kinds of comments, the eggs!!! It’s so sweet and so nice for you to read my little rant and above and beyond to leave something so kind here. Thank you so much! Really turned my perspective around!!

      Ahhhh you responded to my comment!
      I'm so glad you saw my comment and it was able to brighten up your day (you definitely deserve it haha)! You're definitely a great mom, and I can tell Baby Groot is so loved. I'm sure you'll continue to be the best you can be for her. Stay strong!

    I wish I knew about this!!! Your idea is awesome!!! My daughter is almost 14 months old but when she was about 7 months, she'd wake up and adventure around her crib and get her legs stuck in between the bars. Then my hubs and I got a solid mesh sheet but sometimes she'll wake up still sleepy and lay back down and hit her head on the bars. I am totally ganna do this for her!!! Thank you!!! Btw, I have never commented on your videos before because I usually never have anything much to say, but I have been a long time fan/subscriber. Throw it back to the long red hair days where you taught us how to cut bangs :P

    Found this while making bumper pads for a grandbaby and it’s so cute. An excellent idea. Love your easy method of stuffing. That’s a great trick to know for many projects. Did you ever mention how long your tubes were to start with? And you said you take so much time with your baby...well don’t ever feel bad about that. As you know by now they grow and change so quickly. You don’t want her growing up remembering mommy always telling her to leave her alone cause she’s video taping! Enjoy and thanks for a great video.

    No baby to make this for, but I really want to make one extra wide and use it to block the gap between my wall and bed. And another that I can curl up in and hold like a preggy pillow. Lol. Not preggers either, but they're so comfy!!! Just to be cradled and cocooned in soft squishy stuff! And NO you're not irrelevant, like seriously your DIYs have helped me so much you have no idea! I learned how to go off pattern from you and now I own my a costume&design business! I was even the head costume designer for a dance studio for a few years!

    It looks really nice. I was also thinking after watching this that you could make velcro tubes that go around each individual plank in the crib. I still think braiding it around the planks could be cool but I'm not sure how you'd do it unless you maybe did a 4 strand braid. I don't have babies so I wouldn't know. Love the bow addition as well.

    • @MsFrankenStitch
      @MsFrankenStitch  6 лет назад +1

      Loo I need a blue print of this!!! I definitely think a 4 strand plait is better if we braid into the slates. Can you imagine that tangled mess though 😳😳😳 I think it would also be an issue of trying to clean it as well. Every time you wash it you have to unbraid it lol .

    @oOErdbeerkuchenOo 6 лет назад +3

    That‘s a really great idea :) thanks a lot for sharing! Maybe you said it in the video and I just missed it, but can you tell me how you roughly estimated how long your fabric needed to be in order to have it wrap around the crib once it is braided? Double the length when u lay it out flat? More? Less? Thanks :)

    • @MsFrankenStitch
      @MsFrankenStitch  6 лет назад +3

      oOErdbeerkuchenOo oh I am so sorry!! Can’t believe this important info left my brain!! So my crib measures 188” around and I made 255” tubes (tbh it was really cutting it closed should have made 265” tubes). A good eye ball amount would be 1 and a half half your crib measurement laying flat!! You can braid tighter or loose to compensate more or lack of inches!!

    • @oOErdbeerkuchenOo
      @oOErdbeerkuchenOo 6 лет назад +1

      No worries ;) That should be easy to fix with a little annotation, right? I'm sure the others would highly appreciate it :) Thanks for the quick answer!

    Hello. I read your disclaimer. I recently purchased two of these types of bumpers for my 1-year-old daughter's crib.
    I purchased them because my daughter has the tendency to knock her head into the vertical bars around the crib. It will cause her to wake up crying clearly from being in pain. I hated having to watch her go through that. So, I thought to myself, "There has to be a common sense/practical solution to this problem. What about some type of buffer, like padding?"
    As soon as I received the bumpers, my wife went all Google happy to show me how and why crib bumpers are said to be unsafe, according to the "experts" and various statistics. It seems everyone is an "expert" in today's world.
    Based solely on your experience, how did the bumper you made for your baby work out? What are the pros and cons? Is there any reason why you may regret using the bumper? If you were to have another baby, would you ever use the bumper again?
    Is there anything to suggest that your bumper was ever in any way, shape, or form dangerous for your baby? Did your baby suffer any signs of suffocation, strangulation, and/or use the bumper to stand on in order to try climbing out of the crib? These were the dangers that my wife found on Google and that, according to statistics, can happen to a baby if bumpers are in the crib.
    I'm not looking for you to persuade me one way versus the other. I'm just interested in knowing what your experience was. Thank you.

I guess the measurement plus a half of measurement is a good eyeball amount. You can braid tighter or looser to compensate as well!!
