    More on the course.....
    TRADING MISTAKES:
I’ve noticed with both new and old traders alike, the propensity for them to cut out of trades far too early and regret their actions as they see the trade move in the direction they first sort to a much bigger degree. The reverse can also be said for setting stop limits and pulling them too tight and again being forced out of a potentially winning trade unnecessarily.
‘AMATEURS WANT TO BE RIGHT. PROFESSIONALS WANT TO MAKE MONEY!’
This trait is most prevalent (and understandably so) in new traders. I put this down to new traders falling into the trap that ‘Amateurs want to be right. Professionals want to make money!’ Due to inexperience they force trades to a conclusion rather than sticking to their original mental trading model strategy.
AS WE START TO WIN WE BECOME MORE RISK AVERSE AND AS WE START TO LOSE WE BECOME BIGGER RISK TAKERS!
Another major psychological problem is that as we start to win we become more risk averse and as we start to lose we become bigger risk takers! The old adage that you must let your profits run is very true!
Of course, that is what makes trading fun and also very difficult! Pareto’s 80/20 rule is very relevant here. I believe trading is 80% psychological, using the other 20% to store your trading knowledge and skills.
    TRADING IS 80% PSYCHOLOGICAL
Having a clearly defined trading plan and strategy would aid this process but I have noticed whilst teaching and mentoring many of my students that they simply like to tinker.
They struggle with the psychological movement of the price of any given asset and get too absorbed in the now and become clouded when trying to decipher the current trend: adjusting stop losses, pulling in limit orders and making irrational decisions.
So even with the best laid plans the actual trade can go horribly wrong!
So you may now be asking: “What has this got to do with Japanese Candlestick charting methods?” Quite simply, I introduce traders I see having these issues to the world of Heikin Ashi candles as a method of smoothing out some of the noise that impacts their decision making processes - it makes them more 'robust' and 'disciplined' traders.
Heikin Ashi candles I use quite considerably in my own trading and technical analysis. They are also a fantastic charting method for creating highly effective, automatable trading strategies, which can be adapted to many trading styles: swing, trend, scalping etc and work across all trading timeframes. So what are they and now can they be used to better your trading? You can find out within the course!!
    IN SUMMARY
This is a course for all levels of ability - beginners through to the more experienced interested in learning about another unique concept from the world of Japanese technical analysis.
It is relevant to many different styles of trading e.g. day, scalping, trend following, swing trading etc.
It would be very useful for any trader struggling with the 'psychology' of chart trading.
You will learn how to master this chart type, be able to enhance it further and be able to construct your own trading strategies around the Heikin Ashi concept.

Warning to unfamiliar traders. HA candles make it look super easy to trade, but if you compare them side by side to regular candles, sometimes what looks like profit isn't there. A Heikin-Ashi candle might show a big green candle going up, but the actual price might have gone down. I remember trying to trade in real time looking at a HA candle chart, confused as hell as to why I was losing money when the candles were "going up."

Hi Jarret - you make a very good point.
Heikin Ashi is something you have to fully understand before rolling it out in your trading. It is a fantastic tool for smoothing things out but like with anything in life you'll get the best out of it if you put the time in to learn it (and it will also save you money spending a bit of time learning upfront)!! Users must remember it is a combination of two bars and will give different results to traditional candlesticks - which can be an advantage and disadvantage especially if you moved on from Bar or Candlestick charts. I was like you when I first used Heikin Ashi until I took it to pieces and fully understood it. In my charts still when using Heikin Ashi charts for example using Trading View, I always have 'real' prices on my chart scales rather than Heikin Ashi prices (for those that dont know just go into chart settings / symbol and click the obvious box).
Thanks again for your comments and good luck with your trading.
      Regards
      Stephen

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I am an a beginner at trading and I really appreciate how you simplified a difficult topic so effortlessly. There were many topics that really spoke out to me were:
    1. Using RSI with a line at the 50 for (buys/sells)
    2. The timeframe table( I probably watched over 30-50 videos on Heikin Aishi but not one has touched upon this.)
    3. AO , Darvas Box & DMI indicator ( super awesome perspective! Hopefully TOS platform has it)
    4. Pivot Points as Support and Resistance.
Please make more videos on using HA CANDLES for support and resistance. It would also be nice to learn where to set stop losses below the support line. In short, is it possible to trade solely off support and resistance?
Thank you once again. I can tell this video must have taken a lot of time as it was meticulous.

Hi Fi and a Happy New year to you. Thanks for your kind comments and much appreciated. I'm glad you have found the course useful. Most of the detail of the content on the channel comes from trading and using technical analysis for the last 25 years in a professional environment - so I know it works! :) Much, much more content coming out in 2022 so watch this space! Hopefully some of that will answer your other questions. To answer your specific question on can you trade solely off support & resistance - some do but it can be tricky and you have to be very aware of the stop hunters out there! I like to use it more for trade management - stop levels and targets, range trading in combination with other indicators / sentiment/ fundamentals. Wishing you all the best for your trading & investing in 2022! Regards Stephen

brilliant video! have really started to get interested about trading, been on demo for a year or so now and still havent found that plan i feel comfortable with, HA is definetely something that keeps popping up for me and working, and understanding risk management has completely changed the way i view the markets, its showed me that i dont need that holly grail 100% working strategy (that doesnt exist and never will) and that there could be a 20% working strategy yet still have good returns due to the risk management and letting your winners run and cutting losses early. still early in my trading career as i have only just turned 18 so hopefully i can get comfortable with this in the demo and go live soon, i seem to enjoy and have more passion for trading than my college course so hopefully in the long term i can get to the point where i can rely on trading and investments to make a living. once again thank you for this video it has really helped me!

Thanks Casey for the kind words - glad you enjoyed the video. Definitely get those college qualifications first as that will open doors for you and build up the trading skills as an aside! Where are you at College /what are you studying?
Heikin Ashi is a great chart type and I use it all the time.
Theres no such thing as a Holy Grail strategy and anyone tries to sell you something like that is just wrong.
Trading is a profession and to get on and be successful you need to learn the business inside out, become an expert, learn where your strengths and weaknesses are, develop the necessary skills, you need to be consistent, resilient, disciplined, adaptable, a smart thinker (think outside the box), be able to deal with the psychological element of trading which as you get more experience in a live trading arena you will find out about, you need to apply common sense thinking, most importantly have a trading edge, and a passion for it and think of your trading like if you were running your own business - so not much to learn!! :)
Sounds to me though like you're on the right tracks, stick with it and you'll get there.
      Good Luck
      Regards
      Stephen
PS Dont forget the college work - that comes first!! :)

@@TheStopHunter Hi thanks for your your reply i will definitely buy your heiken ashi course, from your main site , because of all the heiken tuts on youtube its hard to know which heiken strategy is best to go with for best results without spending a life time back testing Thanks Russ Weaver Bournemouth uk

    • @TheStopHunter
      @TheStopHunter  Год назад

Hi Russ - no need to purchase the Udemy version of the course. Its only slightly different to the RUclips version - few more exercises / trading plan stuff. Im trying to move all my courses from Udemy onto RUclips. Unfortunately Udemy wont let me mark my courses as free and they wont let me take them off - Im working on sorting that out.
You are correct - there is so much Heiken Ashi on RUclips its hard to know what is worth looking at. All I can say about my stuff is that it is tried and tested in the professional world and in the UK as part of The Society of Technical Analysts I am on their teaching panel to teach this sort of content, so hopefully that gives you some comfort in my knowledge on the subject.
If you have any suggestions on any new content around Heikin Ashi or whatever else you'd like to see in this space, let me know and I will see what I can do. Kind regards Stephen

For the awesome oscillator being used on a daily chart, would i just keep it on the default setting? I saw you had two different settings for the swing example.
