Konami announced Suikoden I & II at Tokyo Game Show in 2022 and ever since, the information surrounding this remaster of Suikoden 1 and 2 has been very minimal. A lot of Suikoden fans are wondering, where is Suikoden I & II HD remaster? Why don’t we have a release date 2 years after the original reveal. Is Suikoden I & II HD remaster cancelled? I've heard rumors that one of the programmers lost his key so they can't get in to the office.
I hope we see a release date at TGS next month, maybe December, or early 2025🤧

Officially we've waited a lot. We can't say things like: "it's a dead game, it'll be cancelled". The official website that announces Suikoden I & II is still live. We know that both games are gold, so I'll be one of those who will wait the necessary time, mainly because I want to have a good game in terms of the remastered graphics and the technical section (I don't want a game with many bugs like Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes).

While not a fan myself I do hope it comes out eventually for the fans of the series. There are so many games that deserve to be on current systems for players both new and old to play.

Throwing a WILD curveball...what IF, they'll include all 5 games plus the Tactics (sadly the only 1 I still own on ps2) in one HUGE collection. Why the delay and a lot of hush hush with Konami.

I don't think it's canceled. To me the most likely scenario seems like there's almost no one working on it. Which indicates that it is in a priority. Which indicates that they don't really believe in the project. So while I don't think it's canceled, this situation often leads to cancellations.
As far as steamdb, Just because it looks like there's work being done doesn't mean there's useful work being done. They could be making any number of insignificant changes that are having no real effect on getting the game closer to release.
Hell, For all we know they could be making insignificant changes just so it shows up because they know people are watching.
Bosses in this game were comically easy except Luca Blight. They better address this with Tales style difficulty settings from Easy all the way to Chaotic. Stats arent hard to program. Fuck the casuals if they think its hard on normal mode.

My worry is that Konami gonna deemed the development become too lengthy, cost is bleeding, and stop the gaming development altogether again to focusing back on Pachinko and printing more yugioh cards
The original team was helping with the remaster, yeas, the ones that made the other Suikoden Wannabe 100 heroes.

Konami kills me with this stuff. They have tons of great IPs and they continue to do dumb stuff with them.
My guess they will add voice acting to it like modern games that is way it took more time

You only need to know one thing: That konami has dropped the f*cking ball with these & there is a very good chance that they may NEVER release. The steam DB updates for the PC version mean nothing. There have been MANY games that previously had tons of updates on steam & were then inexplicably cancelled w/o notice. The sad truth is that konami does not give a rat's butt about suikoden. It does not make them money.

Not nit-picking, but it's pronounced soo-koh-den, just so you know. There's an interview with one of the people involved in the development of the game, an artist, I believe, who says the name. I'm sure if you dig deep enough, you might be able to find it here on YT.
That's incorrect. Broken down by Japanese syllables, the word is SU-I-KO-DE-N /soo-ee-ko-den. the shortening of pronunciation of Sui from Soo-ee to Swee is very common. When I first got Suikoden II back in 2001, I also pronounced the series "Soo-koh-den" but I had no knowledge of the Japanese language at that point. Japanese words have a tendency to be localised in the west in a weird way - i.e. Karaoke. Which doesn't offer much of a base to go off of in terms of aiding folks with pronunciation.

@@Futchums - OK, just tried to locate the original video, and ended up finding a Japanese Konami Suikoden commercial. In this commercial, the narrator actually pronounces it as "See-koh-den", so there's that. In another video, an interview with two people involved in the translation/localization of Suikoden II, one of them actually pronounces it as "Swee-koh-den". So, yeah. I've also learned that it can be pronounced as "Soo-E-koh-den", depending on the speed of the pronunciation. Seeing that the commercial come directly from Konami, I believe the proper way to say it is "See-koh-den", but who knows for sure.

@@BolognaDemon Do you got any evidence that they actually work on it? Because a whole Year with not even a single mentioning makes it pretty clear. We talk about a Remaster. Not a Remake or a completely new Game. It should not take that long to make. At least a Twitter Post every now and then would take no time at all.

Ive lived long enough to know that when developers do not talk about a game they announced and refuse to even address it means this game aint coming out. Its stuck in development hell and won't release because it doesn't have a profitable audience... People forget this franchise died because people weren't buying it in the first place... Which means this game was already being made for a minority.

How much did Eiyuden chronicle raise as a kick starter again? I’m pretty sure there is an audience. Not to mention most AAA titles that come out are completely lackluster.
