Boost would be too much. Leave it as is, an under $10K lean and mean budget build.

You took a great car and made it greater! A fellow in our PCA San Diego club did the conversion with a base 944 and lost the transaxle immediately, put in a 968 trans which holds it. He had a lot of cooling issues due to the engine taking up the whole bay so airflow through the radiator was very restricted, he put in a custom tank and radiator and has it worked out now.

Thats the perfect car to put a widebody on and a set of bbs wheels, just dont slam it to the fking floor, the actual height is low enough

Are t56’s feesable in a transaxle?
944 Turbo transaxle can take more horsepower than you currently are pushing so you can low boost it. There’s 944 owners making 600+ crank horsepower with that transaxle on 2.85/3.0 motors. I wonder why they removed the abs system as it was available on that year most still use the 944 Turbo brakes or switch to 928 or 911 setups and most v8 944’s will use hydroboost for power steering or some will de-power the rack or hunt down the 83 manual NA rack. Any who good looking car, I had two 951’s with over 425hp on the stock motor and trans (m-tune, 80lb injectors, exhaust, larger turbo, fpr etc) they are excellent cars to mod. Considering getting another and doing a v8 swap as well.

My son just got a 83 944. I am arguing with my son he wants to put an LS in it. (I had a supercharged Corvette when he was young I was putting down 650Rwhp) BUT the Porsche is perfect with the red rims nothing is missing. I think it is worth more stock. I only paid $1500 for the 944 :) :) . (friend of mine sold it to him Got the deal of the century) Now I have a lot of people I could help him out with the swap I could even get him a ProCharger for it. BUT I think he should leave it a 944.
if you are on the East Coast and you want to Supercharge it Look at East Coast Supercharging they are in New Jersey. Did great work on my vette but they have also supercharged a smart car lol

Damn under 10k. If you can do all the work yourself thats a W for sure. Seems very cheap for a LS engine
Procharge it.😆 That would push the h.p. near 500 and you already have good interals. I really believe the original turbo transaxle could handle it. I definitely think you guys should take this car to the next level with either some pressure, or maybe a fogger system.
What I wanna know is how do you get it to pass state inspection

No. The transaxle from the turbo is good for a bit over 500 hp if not abused.
really liking this setup! Turbo seems hard to find in my area CA. Would this setup work with 944S? I mean is the tranny and suspension on the S comparible to turbo?

I had an Alpine White 1988 Porsche 944, and it is absolutely my favorite car that I ever owned. Sadly it wasn't the Turbo, but it was such an aesthetically gorgeous car. I bought it used when I was in my early 20's and had it for 10 years before I totaled it. The steering radius was so tight, and precise. I have since owned a Saab 900 convertible, a Dodge Durango, a Cadillac El Dorado, a 2003 500 SL AMG hardtop convertible, Mercedes Benz ML320, a Jeep Cherokee Limited, and now I have a Porsche Boxster S. While the AMG and the Boxster are fast for sure, the 944 was my favorite car that I have ever owned. I just loved the styling and the pop up lights. Maybe someday I'll get a chance to own another one. Great video guys and well done. It's a beauty.

Ls swap takes this 165 hp to 440 hp...that car is def death trap for real. I owned one in 1997 haven't thought about that car in 20 years but make no mistake about bnb it I will be doing this swap in the near future.

I have a 88 944 that I swapped a bmw m50 turbo, zf trans and a 210mm diff from a v12 740. Custom drive shaft and axles, I decided to go this route as the original rear transaxle and torque tube weighs as much as a zf and traditional bmw large case diff, roll cage Yada, Yada. 607 hp and not worried about sending original driveline down the street

Hey guys Those sparco belts look mounted a little low. Y'all look super tall but in a wreck those belts are gonna really really gonna mess your backs up. I could be wrong. Love the car. Sounds awesome.

Good job but do not weld that differential you will hate it . put a real locking differential in don't screw it up. if you really want some fun do like some of the rest of us, explore some of the track events on the road race course near your home. Good luck
