I had the pleasure of taking a few classes with Danielle Polanco. She is undeniably talented and a true lover of dance. Her success is the result of soaking up, mastering, and incorporating EVERYTHING: ballet, jazz, tap, vogue (old and new way), hip hop, crunk, zouk, salsa, bachata, etc. She has a rare range and versatility that you don't get in many teachers.
And yes, she's born and bred from the Bronx so she is blunt and honest with her critiques. It's nothing to take personal. It's funny seeing the Azealia Banks clip, because to me they are cut from the same cloth.

Yes, but if you express that opinion, then you can't cry about the consequences of it. Consequence is no coincidence. People really want to say anything without considering how it'll affect them and those around them. I'm all for free speech, but accountability is another side of that coin. If you're edgy and saying things out there, then you have to understand that there may be backlash, and you have to be prepared to deal with it.

Danielle is one of the best dancers of this generations. Her ability to shift between styles is undeniable. In addition to being able to choreograph. People don't respect technique and thats her foundation. Not to mention, technique is the foundation to longevity. I hate how her legacy's being tainted, due to what seems like a lack of self-awareness, BUT what I cant do is deny the art, gift and talent. She is a VERY gifted dancer that [many] cannot compete with. Some can, but then fall short in technique, and cant compete across styles which is what makes her special. I miss her style of teaching in the dance world. The lack of it is why I left. It sucks when people's careers harden them. I hope she softens up and continues to shine!

I, too, had dance teachers to Danielle Polanco. It made me a strong dancer and individual but it also increase anxiety, stress and a toxic work space for dancers which I still don’t understand because we’re not getting the fruits of our labor. This is the most demanding but underpaid profession there is so I never understand the messy drama that comes with being a dancer when you don’t benefit from it. I have seen videos where she shades American dancers saying we’re not disciplined and technique is bad but won’t permanently teach in Europe. Her comment about Beyoncé was unnecessary too.

I love seeing the way dancers feed off each other's energy. Always loved dancing with people who had the same passion I did for dance. You can feel the chemistry without even touching. That's what makes it fun. When you get caught up in the music not realizing the hours that have gone by. Amazing feeling!

I don't understand why someone isn't allowed to speak their truth unfiltered. Yall put these celebs on a pedestal like they're above having someone publicly dislike them 😑

Facts, celebrity worship is what keeps people blind to constructive criticism of their faves. The yes men that works for them all because they are desperate to be close to a celebrity is what fuels the celeb’s narcissism even more

Beyoncé for some reason is protected half of her shit she literally copied off of people for the older generation. Doesn’t have a inch of originality 😒 she is a great singer and good dancer but I hate when people call her a genius she ain’t no Prince, MJ , Whitney , Mariah those people could Produce and Wright. Beyoncé doesn’t have Album where she truly showed herself . Lemonade only big Bc of the reasoning behind it (the songs are good ofc but her faking like she wrote that ish irritates me) Her music now is bland asf

@@marilyn1984 Nobody ever said she’s MJ, Whitney, prince lmao. In fact all those people you named have ALL said that Beyoncé is an amazing artist and that they love her. You sound so bitter just like that choreographer. You obviously haven’t listened to her last three albums to sit here and say she doesn’t show her “true self”. FYI Beyoncé has written and produced MAJORITY of DESTINY’S CHILDS and HER OWN music

Omg I swear I was wondering wtf ever happened to Danielle! Before Aliyah Janelle there was Danielle Polanco! She’s from my city, Bronx, NY, she was one of Beyoncé dancers too back in the early ‘00s! That’s why I love this channel you alwayz highlight the best stories!
