- In Focus: Little Matters profiles the lives of “Little People” and their families residing in Simcoe County. The challenges of people is highlighted, while giving way to the myths and misconceptions often associated with dwarfism. In this documentary you will be introduced to Community Producer Kevin Kistler from Thornton, Ontario. Kevin’s family believes that small or tall, love is unconditional. The newly married Rutte family of Orillia is also an inspiration. They believe despite their small stature anything is possible.“It has been a heartwarming experience producing In Focus: Little Matters”, says Rogers TV Producer Steve McEown. “I have come to know the families in this documentary very well and admire their conviction. Small statured people are just that - people living their lives like all of us complete with the trials and tribulations we all face on a daily basis.”
Great story. Wonderful parents. Average sized daughter loves and respects her family and wouldn't trade them for the world
I don't have dwarfism, but I am only 4'10". I just come from a family of very short people. I've been asked a lot if I am a little person. My husband is 6'5" and we often get stared at in public. But most people are staring because of how tall he is, not how short I am. One of my best friends is a little person, as are most of her family members. I LOVE their houses because everything is the right size for me too. I always feel very at home with them.
💖💖💖
4-10' is considered dwarfism
4-10' is considered A dwarf
@@yock889 that's under 4'10''
@yock889 But not dwarfism. She is very short with no medical condition
Wow I am 5ft and my man is 6’5 too😩he is so tall sometimes I feel so insecure because this is a new relationship. Like how do you guys kiss and all, doesn’t it get uncomfortable? So if it’s too personal 🥺
Beautiful people come in different shape and sizes. It's the beauty inside that matters, because that what God sees.
Because of the way RUclips works, this is the second video I've watched on Little People. What strikes me (average size) is how kind and gentle those interviewed have been.
Great video we need more of this.I am 4"8 and i get people's BS all the time.
I feel you I'm short to.
I just loved this story. Well done. To the families, thanks for sharing 🙂
This is the right content for youtube reaching the four corner of the world, better than a textbook
Hard to watch when your eyes are full of tears. I was very moved.
Great video. Thank you for sharing
Size doesn't matter . That is not the person as it's what's inside that counts . I've only recently met a little person at the grocery store who asked me to help her reach some frozen food . Well , I'm just 5 foot tall and the item wanted was on the top shelf of the standing frozen food cabinet . There were only 4 packages left which were at the very back of the cabinet which I couldn't reach either , so I tried to climb up and still couldn't reach . Sharon and I both broke out laughing because I could only reach the one package and since she wanted 2 we needed to ask the stock boy in the next aisle for assistance . We started to chat a bit and after completing our shopping we went out for coffee together . We enjoyed each other's company so much that we made a future date for coffee and now we share a lovely friendship .
I love seeing them, they are so motivated
I love your documtries Steve!
i enjoyed this. lovely people
The dad should be a real host for shows he did great.
i admirer little people because they show that they can do the same things like us everaged sized people can do
I admire little people as well they inspire me so much.
Nice video, short and sweet.
Great documentary.
Thanks! We're glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for letting us (suppost to be normal) to know people like you guys, they're amazing people, not matter is they are tall, ittle or average. They have values, they are smart, they posses talents like every other person in the world.
Please treat them with respect, teach your kids never call them midget, that's too ofensive. Be respectable, never stop to look up them like if they were from another planet. Remember you never know, be afraid of the karma.
GOD BLESS THANKS FOR SHARING
Canadian's Great Documentary well spoken
gotta love ms. Gilpin
you're really insightful!
Kevin has a nice voice for a documentary.
beautiful people x
I am a six feet tall woman. I have a friend in a wheelchair and she prefers for us to sit when talking to her. That way she can be an active part of conversation. Is that something we should do with conversing with little people? Thanks and great video.
Carol Morter I’m in a wheelchair and that is a really ignorant comment.
@@HighTen_Melanie I don't see her comment as ignorant. She was only stating what HER FRIEND in a wheelchair preferred. And she followed up with a question that she was genuinely interested in finding out what the proper way would be to communicate with a smaller person "at eye level". That's someone who cares, even though you may not have liked how she asked. But asking is the beginning of educating. She shouldn't be insulted or shot down because she wants to be respectful or thoughful. If anything, YOUR comment is ignorant. My father has been in wheelchairs all his life and he, unless he's conversing to someone in passing, will always say, "Please...have a seat" so he can conversate comfortably without having to have his head looking up the whole time.
Hello my name is Roget I'm from New Jersey I'm an average size person but I accept others no matter how they look like on the outside wether if they are tall or short or if their hair is straight curly short or long we are all unique.
Lovely people.
you are beautiful people.
It's really interesting to see how different cultures have different meanings for words. In germany, for example, the equivalent for "Dwarf", Zwerg, would be a terrible insult to little people and i can't imagine anybody using the word. Unthinkable, almost as insulting as the n-word for black people. Whenever i'm in the US hearing the term "dwarfism" makes me totally uncomfortable.
that's what I thought while watching. really the only way to address the condition is using the term kleinwüchsig
This would have been groundbreaking if it wasnt for "Little People,Big World"
I think that show was so popular bc it was the first of uts kind . demonstrating LP can live normal life's.
I have a question about the term midget. If a midget is a person who is short but proportional, then why is it a derogatory term for a dwarf? Personally, I would be more offended to be called a dwarf because of its use in literature or movies. If a dwarf hates being called a midget, does that mean a midget should feel inferior because that's a derogatory word?
It's derogatory because of its origin. Freaks shows for example. Trust me you wouldn't be more offended being called dwarf. Dwarf is a medical term. That would should not be used under any circumstances. Not even if it's a "correct" term to use.
@@pixiebile9663 What do you mean I don't get it?
@@MyAlvaro777 Which part?
@@pixiebile9663 Everything and the part about you wouldn't be more offended being called a dwarf?
@@MyAlvaro777 That's me personally. Little person is the preferred term if you absolutely need to use a term. Other than that the person name is obviously best. I personally don't mind "dwarf". It's just a shortening of dwarfism so it doesn't bother me. It does bother other with dwarfism however
Midget is derogatory. So I would obviously be less offended by dwarf
I get a lot of bs from being short and I understand the reason why I get told I look like a kid and I’m 21
I totally understand you, I hate that people publicly make jokes about being short and think that it’s not offensive 💔
wheres opie & anthony & Jim when we need them?!
Talking about little matters, who can help me find shoes for A man with small feet? Like size 39 eu or 7 us ???
Try shopping in China (AliExpress) for shoes where the average person is smaller. Never mind the prices being better too. I once ordered an Extra Large goose down coat....when it came, it was about the size of an average 10 year old. I wound up keeping it because the price was so low....then, I gave it away to a suitably sized child.
All the peoples spirits are the same size !
I'm 4'3",became a Jockey and Won 1001 Races My Name William Klinke
Are u a midget?
Are you 2 midgets in an overcoat pretending to be a regular sized person??
Sarah very pretty
I m also very short and 5”3
I’m little but I don’t like little person or dwarf....

The same people who call this a gift are the same people preaching about jesus. Its not a gift its a mutation and so is religion for that matter a really bad one.
The only mutant I find is you.
Ooo soo edgy!
@@elspethdarkbrooke997 Who the fuck cares about what you think? Im just stating the oblivious facts, let me guess.... facts offend you?
Go tell one of these people that to their face then and see how you like the feeling it creates in the air. It _is_ a gift, adversity of any kind makes for a kinder more empathetic soul.
Who said that being a midget is a good thing
