When Metal Machine is the least good song on your album, you know you are delivering gold! What a masterpiece!
But it's so good live , and was EVER oh SO GOOD Live on that Machina tour too how the instrumental bits that began ½ way through would be not only epic but change their riffs and melodic leads night to night. Really, watch some performances of HMM on the tour (RUclips is hosting full length shows from 2000) and you'll appreciate the nightly improvisations like Billy and Jimmy and bouncing off of James and Billy and then Melissa and Billy and everyone and every shredding riff in-between!!
And I'm aware you're not dissing it, simply stating a fact, however most people I feel think Virex is the weakest link or whatever it wound up getting renamed as
The "eat your piece of cosmic cake" song... Oh yeah the imploding voice. Does it even still have that lyric? I miss the silliness of "my babys got three eyes! 👁️" On cash car star pre-machina (both examples I gave are from the arising! Tour. Dross' lyrics got changed up to be more serious too, something about them letting you eat their razor blades/ dance around in yer charade- AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL... 😂
SOMETIMES I think someone needs to pinch Billy to remind him rock and roll is SUPPOSED to be a little stupid. But obviously he knows , since he even penned those original lyrics to begin with!! Anyway, I might agree with you about Heavy Metal Machine. It was my bathroom break song on that tour, unfortunately now I realized how wrong I was and wish I had paid more attention to the instrumental breakdowns on that tour when I was there at those shows in person. Ahhh, regrets
